I would watch Rodney Dangerfield's great grandson go back to school.
If there's diminishing box office returns In your multiplex Who you gonna call? REF-RENCES!
Yes Lon, the characters of Ghostbusters Afterlife exist in a world where the existence of a supernatural attack (2 honestly if this film weren't trying to completely ignore the events of the second film) on New York can be easily Googled/KZreadd and you'd THINK that people wouldn't dismiss those events out-of-hand. But you have to remember that we live in the real world where there's footage from every possible angle and thousands of eye-witness accounts of the 2001 terror attacks and the planes used to carry them out and there are still "911 Truthers" who believe that it was a duo of missile attacks launched by our own government. We live in a world where there exists millions of hours of footage, billions of words of text written about and countless images of our world from space not to mention living astronauts, thousands of interviews and the ENTIRE INSTITUTION OF NASA to support the fact that the Earth is round, yet Flat Earthers are a thing. Never ever EVER underestimate the ignorance/stupidity/obliviousness/insanity of Human-kind.
This felt like younger reitman worshiping his father and I'm sincerely glad his father got to see it and the fan reaction even though it was not for me. Gonna rewatch Dave instead

I enjoyed the movie personally. It was pretty fun. But then I'm not super attached to the originals so I didn't really have expectations going in. Having said that I don't disagree with the criticisms either.
I don't like getting nostalgia shoved at me either, but this seems unwarrantedly grumpy.
I actually found the original two not only funny, but very scary. This new one was too stylish and by the numbers.

Loved the first 1 and had the proton pack and trap and suit that I wore until I ripped it by getting too big for it, but I hated the 2nd movie
Because of the Superbowl ad, could do a Cable Guy sequel
Trying to figure out where the first time I heard the term Member Berries for the last couple of days. So Danielle's legacy will be Member Berries, Meat Cannon, *AND TWINS!*
Honestly, I loved this movie. The jokes all landed for me and I was successfully charmed by the cast. I did feel like Egon lingered a bit too long, but they also kinda wrote themselves into a corner where he HAD to linger so he could say goodbye to his daughter. I also felt like this was a really good passing the torch movie. Like, yeah. It’s real samesies and a bit too referential at times. But I love this new cast. I’m fully invested in seeing where they go and what they do after this. Maybe just without the references.
Always love a Celery Man reference

I liked the film except, ironically, the appearance of the original ghostbusters. I thought that scene was flat and not funny. Action, tension, action and STOP! "Hey Everybody, LOOK, its THEM!.....just standing there being awkward, saying stuff that I don't even remember. yea

- I JUST got the "Casita!" joke in the STARRING segment 😄 - Also, strongly suggest that future commentary videos increase the size of the commenters' squares a little more so we can see their reactions better. I think you can just assume that most folx came to this video from the honest trailer itself, so the trailer within THIS video doesn't have to be super big. - A SICKENING number of easter eggs... for a MOVIE. If this was a limited streaming series on Netflix, then the number would've made sense. - Wasted WolfRam Hart, or whatever his name is. Honestly, wish the lead actress acted more like Paige from YOUNG SHELDON and less like Young Sheldon from YOUNG SHELDON. She did a great job with what she was given, but if the director & script allowed her to be more charismatic, I think this could've been great.
I thought this movie was pretty good save for the third act which was just kinda meh sans the Egon stuff.
@hugh-jasole

the Egon stuff was terrible
Egon easily could have heard that bible quote in another setting or just knew it himself, hell, maybe he taught it to the other two, so, that's a stretch to complain ab that
I think the movie was quite nice. I really liked the music and the atmosphere they created. And the family legacy aspect was nice, too. But I would've liked another ghost villian instead of Gozer. Does anyone see a reason why they couldn't have used another villian aside from callback phrases for the OG Ghostbusters to feed us? In that way it was a bit repetetive and cheap. But anyway, overall I thought it was a good movie.
Personally I really enjoyed the movie it kept my attention and entertained me
what happened to the Arcane commentary?
This movie was great! I'm a casual GB fan and went in with really low expectations. I ended up being fully on board with the third act and almost got choked up at the egon stuff. I left satisfied for sure and excited for the OGs to come back again (based on the after credits).
Actually, the family moves in the summer. Phoebe is just sent to Summer School for something to do. Paul Rudd's character basically drew the short straw to get stuck with the Summer School kids.
24:41 I enjoyed this movie even though I agree with so much of what y'all said about it. The over emphasized, nauseating level of fan service and the lack of SNL worthy comedy, in particular are big misses. But if I were to write a nostalgia laden soft reboot for the 5-6 yo me that was sitting in that theater all those years ago? The kid who didn't even know what SNL was and at least 80% of the jokes went right over his head? That kid thought the original Ghostbusters was the perfect balance of fun, adventure, funny, and terrifying. This movie is the soft reboot that kid would've wanted.
Did Spencer just said John Frusciante at some point during this video?
Something that bothered me was that the apocalypse almost happens because they find the ghost trap, realize it has a ghost in it, and are like”hey let’s open it” Dr Evil: “....how ‘bout NO”

Can you talk About Kaitou Joker?
I expected Lon to hate this. He hates almost everything good. But why do sooo many critics hate this movie? Is it a lore vs comedy thing? I don't care that this wasn't a comedy. I really like the lore of GB and I liked the kids-adventure film that it was. I found it fun and charming and I'm getting tired of all these fuddy duddys that poo poo over everything fun.

Ideas for a Female ensemble film re-done with men: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants or the Joy Luck Club
Sorry I liked this movie a lot.
I’m so surprised that not one of these people is a Ghostbusters fan.
You guys are totally missing the point of this movie. It's a passing of the torch film - it's for the kids, not us. It's THEIR version of 80's nostalgia. Most of us who were kids in the 80's have kids of our own now & we've shown them Ghostbusters (and Back to the Futures, Goonies, Gremlins, etc) so now going forward if there are more of these films, they will be for them. If it didn't resonate with you, that may be because you weren't the target audience
That shot of Harold - cool. Them having him linger for way too long? O.K. It's creepy. Also, I wonder what happened to Gozer's original actress? That and - if you're gonna bring Gozer back, why couldn't they have a twist where her body is in the form of a dorky comedic relief-type girl? Like, say, Gozer returns - but because everyone thinks she's a hot lady they've just expected that...until - wham, she isn't. Instead she's like, Susan Boyle-adorable for Ghostbusters 2134.
I feel like this movie made me feel kinda like how Mortal Engines made Danielle feel. There’s parts I really liked, there’s also parts where I wanted to punch this movie in the face. The overindexing on nostalgia and callbacks just wore me out.
Afterlife was way better than the infamous 2016 one. Actually kinda hope for more
I gotta be honest. The timing of this honest trailer…really awkward. There’s a lot of snark in the honest trailer and in the commentary and it comes out 48 hours after Ivan Reitman’s passing (which I’m relieved that y’all acknowledged it respectfully)? I mean, this could’ve waited. “House of Gucci” was ripe for a ripping. Right then and there.
I love the original 2. So freaking funny. But I hated this. So much. But everyone around me loves it so much that I literally haven't said a word. Side note, Paul Rudd was creepy not charming. I "eweed" a few times
