Now this is the number Fox insiders have confirmed with as well as seen here: variety.com/2019/film/box-office/alita-battle-angel-box-office-disaster-1203141963/ As shown, "insiders at Fox say the break-even number is closer to $350 million" while "executives at rival studios estimate “Alita: Battle Angel” will need to gross roughly $500 million globally to get out of the red." Furthermore, the movie is actually making quite a bit of money via physical DvD sales. Not only is it number 1 in chart sales, but it also holds quite a large portion of the DvD sales market currently, with around a million purchases already! However, I would like you to consider the movie from a slightly different perspective from what you are seeing the movie at currently. Sure, Alita never defeats the "big, bad guy" Nova. And sure, she never goes to Zalem. These are legitimate concerns. However, you should also consider this: Maybe the movie isn't about defeating and accomplishing everything there is to do in their universe. Maybe this movie is instead about Alita herself. Alita starts off as a young and innocent girl. She doesn't even know how to properly eat an orange. As the story progresses, we follow Alita and see the world through her eyes. We see her enemies through her eyes. And eventually, we see her fully develop as a character who becomes a warrior, ready to fight. By the end, Alita's arc of character developement is practically done. And that is why the movie ends where it does. The movie is about Alita's developement, and it ends when that development finishes, making for a pretty satisfying conclusion in a different way that from what you would expect. Lastly, those extra bits about Nova and Zalem are laid out in the case that this movie does get a sequel (which I hope for so badly). Anyways thanks for reading. TL; DR: There is actually quite a lot of possibility and potential for a sequel to this movie. Do not give up hope! Read above for evidence. Also, buying an Alita blu ray would increase this movie's chances for a sequel too and I encourage you to do so. Lastly, while it can be seen to have a cliffhanger, I would recommend seeing the movie from a different perspective as I explain above to Matthew Agonoy. Thanks!

While some people here obviously didn't like the movie, I absolutely loved it. I can definitely see why some people wouldn't like this movie as it is pretty different from mainstream films these years. However, for me personally, those differences hit right at home and this movie was an absolute favorite of mine. From the amazing visuals to the interesting characters, I found very little to dislike. I really hope that James Cameron decides on doing a sequel for this film as not only would it tie up some ends such as what Zalem actually looks like, but it would also be a great piece of art in the film industry in general, with bigger stars having a bigger role such as Edward Norton, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jai Courtney. Thanks for reading.

Really enjoyed this movie on a 6 hour flight dispite the tiny screen and having no idea about the manga. Probably gonna watch it again later on a proper TV.

Loved this movie. Really hoping for a sequel. CGI looks amazing. Story follows the Manga great, but adapts as best you can to a movie. Heart, action, & pretty much everything I want in a new Franchise. I think with Robert Rodriguez’s and James Cameron’s pull, they can make anything they want, including a sequel.

Got to admit I loved this excellent film.

As far as Hollywood big budget manga adaptations go this movies was pretty good. Yeh it does try to stuff multiple archs into one movie, and much of the laughable stuff is also in the manga. I actually do hope they make the sequel. This movie has a story worth seeing all the way through.

WETA was contracted for the moon sequences in “Ad Astra” too - you can see their particle and lighting work in its trailer and its similarities to those used in Alita

That Mr Burns impression was surprisingly good lol

Some of your best "Starring" work ever right here. Droid Rage and Optimus Crime had me in stitches.

Panzerkunst is german, so of course it sounds a bit off when someone not natively speaking german says it. It's exactly the same with Doppelgänger and Zweihänder^^

Think so too. It definitely has it's flaws and is far from perfect, but overall it's is so well entertaining and i would really loose it, if they would decide not to do the sequel, because of the open end. And of course, because i need to watch Edward Norton doing that character.

Such a underrated film. As a reader of the manga, I was quite impressed by it. I hope anime/manga film adaptions in the future are at least this good, if not better ❤️

@@havoren Edge of Tomorrow's quality aside (tastes may differ), I would not name it in the same breath as Alita, ever. (...I guess, I just did, tho :| Dang.) While Alita was a surprisingly true adaptation (albeit with a few directorial story and character choices, to squeeze 2++ manga volumes packed with storylines and plotbeats into the movie) and Christopher Waltz was obviously born to play Ido, it felt they took All You Need Is Kill's premise and overall story and wrapped it around Tom Cruise for his fame to push the production... All You Need Is Kill was a 2004 novel that got adapted into a manga of the same name in 2014, when the american movie Edge Of Tomorrow inspired by it was released (there was no anime), for promotional reasons novel and manga re-releases were afterwards occassionally/regionally named after the movie.

Nice touch with the Optimus Prime voice when you said Optimus Crime.

@@nethmiperera6353 YESSSSSSSSSSS. my whole family is waiting for it. and they didn't even understand english when they watched the first one. just the visual and emotions displayed on the screen was a compelling enough to watch and wait for part 2.

To call a martial art, specifically for cyborgs, "tank art", is actually quite cool.

LOVED this movie! There were definitely a lot of blades now that I think about it.

The reason for all the blades is because guns and other projectiles have been outlawed by Zalem for drone use only, so melee weapons are the only choices.

@@12jswilson Jotaro is only any good in Parts 4 and 6. In Part 3 he's a boring bland, edgelord with almost no character development and very limited relationships with anyone apart from old Joseph. Joseph is much funnier, much more entertaining, more likeable, and more complex. Part 3 Jotaro is not a deep character, no matter what people say. He's a cliche.

The blade reference is amazing

Well... this movie was a beat-for-beat adaptation of the anime movie that was half the length of the live-action movie (so technically the manga-adaption process had already been done for them).

A Jojo reference on Honest Trailers. And not just any Jojo, but Joseph Joestar. And not just any Joseph Joestar, but YOUNG Joseph Joestar. (aka best Jojo) Now I've seen everything on this channel
