    Jaden was terrible, but I think alot of people misunderstand the character Wiill Smith played. The trait of his character was to lack fear and emotions, since that's how the monsters hunted you. Will Smith's acting wasn't bad, he just played his character. Now everything else was pretty bleh, I agree.

    One thing that I still don't get about this is Why has everything evolved to kill humans if humans haven't lived there for millions of years

  • @bananian

    @bananian

    8 жыл бұрын

    +James Lawson-Donnachie I was thinking that too. Also, the movie didn't show much of anything that is hostile to humans aside from the stupid slug and the cold, lol. Their colony on their home planet seems a lot more hostile with the alien monsters. A lot of inconsistencies in the story. I don't know what the theme is. Is Katai trying to get over the guilt of his sister dying? How does overcoming guilt make him able to kill the beast that senses FEAR? Is he trying to overcome fear throughout the movie? But he didn't show any fear from beginning to end... The editing is also terrible but I am too lazy to list out everything.

  • @NielsenSam7

    @NielsenSam7

    8 жыл бұрын

    +James Lawson-Donnachie Pretty late to the party but I have an idea. Maybe the reason they evacuated earth was because animals started evolving to kill humans and with earth's harsh new conditions which humans could barely survive in they became even stronger and better at surviving than humans. Movie still makes literally zero sense though.

  • @jameslawson-donnachie9248

    @jameslawson-donnachie9248

    But what I'm saying is they would have lost the reason and then ability to kill humans in the 500,000 odd years it took for them to come back. And secondly why would you send only a man and his son did they have no prisoners. I feel I need to say now the only things I know about it are whats in the official trailer this one and it's rubbish.

    I watched it yesterday for the first time. It's awful. My biggest concern, aside from the night freezing, was: why the heck does he have limited oxygen with all those trees? Why the eagles, snakes, monkeys and tigers don't have a problem with the lack of oxygen? There is no way the trees "evolved" to kill humans by "not making enough oxygen". That would have killed all of the other animals too. What a load of crap.

    Most people love jumping on the Hate M Night bandwagon, but in this case, Will Smith is largely to blame. He was a producer AND is credited for the writing of the story for this one. He has a lot of power in Hollywood so i bet he had a lot of say in this.

    Not to mention his child is the main goddamn character. I don't want to bash Jaden Smith unfairly. He could very well become a decent actor. As Harry Dean Stanton said, 'Anyone can be a movie actor.' He can learn to act. He can then find roles that suit his abilities. He's also a kid. We all did embarrassing shit when we were young and didn't have the added trauma of it being captured on film to be archived and mocked for all eternity. He deserves a chance. We all did when we were young. That said, he does come across as an entitled, self-absorbed and delusional rich kid who has been sheltered from the honest ass-kickings and harsh criticisms of everyday life which are essential to becoming a normal, non-douchebag adult. He needs someone to sit him down, tell him he doesn't know what he's talking about, has no observable talent and that he has to work hard and think critically about himself and the surrounding world if he ever wants to stand a chance of not being insufferable for the rest of his life. I swear, being raised rich and famous could almost be considered child abuse. When (or if) he becomes self-aware, the resulting cringe-shock may very well send him into convulsions. All of this is his parent's fault. Oh, and someone should tell him to quit using social media. Just stop. Completely.

    Will Smith actually was responsible for directing his son in this movie. M. Night handled blocking, composition, camera placement, color etc. Will Smith is entirely to blame for the terrible performances and script, since Smith hired M. Night to direct this movie, not the other way around.

    How can they evolve while not being exposed to that species? I'm not a science major or anything but I know a prime example of evolution is how modern roaches are growing immune to common pesticides by being exposed to them for so long which pushed them to a rapid evolution, weakening/voiding the effects of pesticides and insecticides. They were presented with an enemy and built a resistance to that. These animals however, were not presented with enough humans for the whole planet to evolve towards specifically being designed to kill that one species. The whole concept sounds ludicrous. Did they just ignore the other species of animals they need to evolve and build resistance against or did the whole planet and its inhabitants decide "Hey, lets grow towards killing humans because fuck humans?". It just doesn't make sense in any logical way.

    the movie makes no logical sense, BUT... it is trying to say that animals hate humans for what we do to their habitats. also the movie is actually brilliant and i have no idea why people rate it so low. it is sci-fi and therefore logic shouldn't really apply. i like the fact that it's saying that we don't own earth and we shouldn't forget that. the whole climate change thing is saying that we are f*cking up earth's nature so now takes it's own back (logically it should be a massive heat wave and not a freeze but i guess they had to do that to fit the storyline) and finally he didn't mention the f*cking amazing fight scenes on earth

    You do realize it's in the script he's reading off of to rage quit, right? It's not like he was given an actual continuing script of dialogue beyond the rage, but decided to go against it.

    Scott Morales I know. But the fact that the rage quit itself was scripted shows just how much they hate the film.

    Mike Algiers true, but is there a trailer on a film they do like? They hate everything. Which is good. Just don't decide weather to watch a movie based off of their trailer. you'd never watch a movie.

    The one thing i do like about this film, aside from good effects. Is the fact that this is the first of M Nights films to not to end with a twist.
