Honest Review: Sunterra Stainless Santa Maria Grill Update (3 yrs later)
It's been 3 years with this @sunterraoutdoor6919 Santa Maria Grill. Time to do an update, an upgrade, and some maintenance.
For those who don't want to watch the whole thing (TL;DR):
1. I still love it. It's beautiful and solid. I would recommend it (4.5/5 stars).
2. It should be tig welded instead of mig. For the price point, this is a major cut-corner by Sunterra.
3. Sunterra is awesome to work with if any issues arise
4. Unless you're sold on the V-grates, just get the round bar grates. They are SO much less maintenance and IMHO cook better.
5. Order a spare set of cables from the beginning.
6. The market is beginning to get flooded with cheap, crappy stainless Santa Marias. Always look at the shipping weight and gauge/thickness of steel. These have to be heavy to work well and last.

I also have a 3 year old Sunterra Santa Maria... you absolutely mirrored my thoughts on this grill and the v-grills especially! I just ordered the round bar grills from Sunterra based on your video. Thanks for a solution! Much appreciated. Oh, and when I ordered the round bar grills... at your suggestions, I also ordered some replacement cables. A lot of what you said here really hit home for me. If I lived around your home town... we would be friends. 🤣
Great follow-up video Nick!!

Absolutely!
Are you happy with the size or would you recommend 48”? I’d like to try and do some whole hogs on it.
"i work in steel, 3/16 1/2'" ?
I've never been a fan of the v grate. I see no point in having one. I love it when the grease falls down onto the coals and flavor comes back up and hits the meat. Also, I don't consider the v grate a "santa maria" style BBQ.....it more of an Argentina style.
