been using my lonestar grill santa maria for several months now. i went with the upgrade for thicker steel box and firebrick, but i think i may have liked the grates without firebrick. firebrick seems to reduce airflow where as expanded metal for the coals would likely allow a cleaner fire. but man, its fun cooking on it that is for sure.
My eldorado is being delivered to the dealer on the 22nd pretty excited to pick up!!
Very informative
I'm in the market...hopefully making a purchase in the next year or so. Currently leaning Lone Star Grillz though b/c of the accessory options/flexibility.

@@bigvisk1125 what size did you end up going with? Would you do anything differently?

@@RajahJi got the 60", its not much more $$$ for the size, so if you have the space id do it. i got the folding door, it is handy, and good at increasing air flow. i would prefer some sort of adjustable vents i think but that wasnt an option. i hot the 8" wheels, not sure how much better they are over the 5" wheels, but i was able to move it by myself, with some grunts. I got the firebrick bottom, and i dont think i would do that again, i dont think its worth the cost. I got the brassero which comes in handy sometimes, but only during huge cooks, otherwise the main grill is large enough you can cook on one section and have a fire on the other. I got the griddle which i love, but i love griddle cooking. ive done smashburgers, eggs, pancakes, and various veggies on the griddle. I guess the main thing i wouldnt do is the fire brick. of course i dont have experience with the regular expanded metal grate option so i dont know for sure, but the firebrick likes to smoke a lot from lack of air (is my guess) and i think the expanded metal would allow a cleaner fire, but likely a faster burn. thats probably the one thing i would do differently, especially considering the cost of it.

Very informative video, I'm in the market for one. I was looking at Tagwood bbq. But I didn't see any kind of reviews for the Tagwood

Check out my original Santa Maria Episode. I talk about Tagwood there. kzread.info/dash/bejne/iaOjt7GTY5zffaQ.html
this design of Santa Maria grill (cantilever). prevents the use of a rotisserie. Go with the Lone Star Grill
I much prefer the look and maintenance of the linseed oil finish. …Never been a fan of any black paint finish. If I was in the market for a SM pit, I’d be going with the TMG…
