Would love to see a video of you cooking on this thing! Sure the welds are sub par for the trained eye, but it’s an absolutely beautiful grill overall and if cooks as good as it looks then it is well worth the investment.

CAN you please do a short UP DATE video on this unit ? (It doesn't have to be as long, .. just 45 seconds or so ...) Just so us potential purchasers can see how the unit has stood up to the test of time and heating / cooling down. ... It would be interesting to see if the door etc has got any sort of discolouration after many times of use ... and so this may make me change my mind and order a typical / conventional black painted steel/ iron version. I still have this video as my reference video (on what unit I am going to order from Sunterra) so please don't take this video down. It seems to be the ONLY review of a stainless steel version unit of BBQ Pit Boys / Sunterra that exists on the net. I have the room for a brasero at the back of the 36" unit as my bbq station isn't finished yet.

I need to get a video up. Cooks great. A few more quirks. The bottom swole up the first time and made the fire bricks compress and bulge on the floor. They stayed that way. I eventually need to remove them and see if its just the bricks or if the floor is swollen still. The stainless has also warped a touch on the door to the point where I have to jiggle it a little to get it open. Its catching on a latch and I just need to grind the latch down a bit. Nothing disastrous, just mildly frustrating. But overall still looks good and definitely cooks well. All grills have their quirks, and I work in metal and grill manufacturing, so I'm probably more understanding than most because I have realistic expectations.

Looks awesome! I was having the same issue not able to find the built in videos and how it looks in stainless steel. Thanks for posting! Looking forward to a video of your finished outdoor kitchen and a video on how you like it when you cook. I’m waiting for our deck to be built then going to do outdoor kitchen with one of these hopefully! Also any regrets not getting the firebox (Brasero)

I’ll get another video done about it. Overall really happy. A few quirks but overall no real complaints. I love the idea of the brassero but i never have enough time to burn coals down before I start, so I’m content starting with charcoal and moving to wood. Would definitely buy this again though. It’s an awesome centerpiece

@@Nickcooksbbq GREAT VIDEO ....!! THIS is the EXACT unit that I am going to somehow obtain. I live in western Canada which can be an issue since there are retailers / distributors ONLY in eastern canada. My TWO Questions to you are: Q1. What are your thoughts on me ordering the exact same item as yours EXCEPT asking for a RED WHEEL and shaft? I think that would accent it soooo nicely! Q#2. If i specifically ask the Sunterra company that I want CLEANER welds ... is that being a jerk? I have a friend in the metal fab business and he has done some welding for me ... using a stainless steel and his welds are AMAZING ... and he laughed at the welds that you showed in your video. He thinks that that is just barely acceptable .. and that it is obviously a "junior" metal fab welder at Sunterra that performed your welds. Also ... Q #3: will the surface of the front start to patina undesirably ...? ... like a SoloStove firepit? ..b/c i am not tooo crazy for this patina / excessive heat fire stain, type of thing

I soooo want to email you / private message you to obtain more information. I could show you the stainless steel job that my friend performed for a cool outdoor fireplace project he did and .. I must say ... I NOW KNOW the difference of a GREAT welder ... and a so-so welder .... (As in your case) just by watching your video ... and comparing. Also, you got the drop down (single) door and apparently there is the two opening doors version (like a car, except they open a lot wider). Do you know if THAT is an option with the SS unit?

oh ... and I certainly like your comment about the BBQ Pit Boys badge. I also only like the Sunterra badge on the upper left, .. as the BBQ pit boys plaque is a bit cheesy. I would specifically order it WITHOUT that badge on the upper right. The way that I see it ... .if I am going to pay five grand ... i want what I want ... cleaner welds, red wheel & shaft, and one less badge. Do you think this would be asking tooo much before placing the order ?

@@bmwrulesforeternity5218 man I would definitely ask for it. Send them a link to the video to show them what you don’t want! Haha. I think the red would be cool. I work in fab so I definitely see some great welding. For the price, I agree, it’s a bit bush league. But it’s heavy duty so I can’t complain too much. We’ll see how it wears

It looks like the grill was stick welded with stainless steel rods instead of being tig welded. Did the grill come with the bricks?

You’re correct. It’s not tig-welded. Tig would have been much prettier. It did come with the firebrick.

Nice video, but that grill is like 4 grand those welds are totally not accepted and those wire handles are gonna rust. If I was you I'd reach out to them.

Handles are easy enough to swap out. Agreed, they look nickel plated. Definitely think the welds are subpar. Material is decent but they have some QC issues for sure

From your feedback on your evaluation process (lack of videos) and the hideous welds (MIG instead of TIG) it’s clear SS must be a very low % of their business.

There’s an update video posted now, but I agree, I believe their stainless line is likely not their big sellers. Price point is probably the reason. It should have been TIG’d, but the welds aside, it’s a solid unit with good design and materials. I would buy again.

@@Nickcooksbbq I’ve got the double barrel (2x24”) Argentine, rear- brasero. It’s sucking excellent. Center piece of any evening with friends over. It’s tough to pull out a $4k bill for it, but (if I couldn’t weld and wasn’t handy) I’d probably pay 3x that. You cook your foods on it and then it just turns into a beastly (and elevated) raging fire pit to congregate around all evening ❤️❤️❤️🥃🥃🥃⛷️❄️⛷️❄️🍆🍆 Hell yeah
