If stamina were consumed when furling and unfurling sails, for instance, that could sort of make sense. Clambering around the rigging and moving ropes around would gradually tire out the sailors, one must presume. But I'm assuming it's not that, and instead just a dash stamina bar or similar... in which case, bleh.

I think it was kick from studio to studio within Ubi. Everytime the scope and vision for the project changed. In the end it was probably only the deal with the Singaporean government, who underwrote some of the cost in exchange for making it there (they are probably trying to kick off a local games industry), that even saw the project released.

I still wonder how Ubisoft screwed this up when Black Flag already gave them the blueprint for this game, & Black Flag came out over 10 years ago!

Dear Narrator, Ever since I heard your epic voice years ago, I knew im gonna be hooked to this channel. I love your voice.

Man, 6 years ago people would've laughed if the genuine reaction was "Just play Sea of Thieves". Amazing how the tides have turned.

Sea of Thieves walked, ran, and soared, all so Skull and Bones could trip and fall down a comedically long staircase

There was more content in the closed beta than there is currently on the live game. Also, once you finish with the first guy you get to do it all over again with another NPC that is moderately cool. Then there's the fact that you can get to the best ship/best build within 1-2 days of gameplay. Oh and the fact that the dhow is completely useless and last I heard was removed from the game. Also also, there's tons of ways to exploit all of the pvp events including taking over an entire server so you never lose a helm wager or cutthroat cargo event. Also also also, the hardest content in the game can be solo'd with one weapon from 2km away (twin winch ballista) by simply preventing the enemy from becoming hostile.

Nah, the Dhow is still there and is actually required to be used for some of the missions and to get to some locations, since the passageways are too narrow to use the "normal" ships.

I keep thinking the idea of two ships packed with real players manning cannons racing to see who boards the other first should have been a feature of Star Wars Battlefront 3...

The only reason Ubisoft didn't cancel this years ago was that they took too much money from the Singaporean government to fund development. They had to release something, or else be forced to repay them.

How about an honest trailer on that new Princess Peach game?

The fact that Yves "I Still Have Yet To Take Any Kind Of Accountability Over The Fact That My Company Actively Protected Sexual Predators In Its Ranks" Guillemot had the gall to call this pile of crap a AAAA game is just insulting, especially since the only reason this game actually saw the light of day is because if they didn't release it the government of Singapore would sue Ubisoft into oblivion. Even more mind-blowing is how they managed to screw up such an easy game to make. This was an absolute layup. Here's what they had to do: Step 1: Take AC: Black Flag. Step 2: Remove all references to Assassins and Templars. Step 3: Ship the game. Would have likely had a GotY contender.

This has more use as a case study into product development than a form of entertainment

So ten years ago they made an excellent open world pirate game. Instead of taking that, expanding it, and reskinning it from AC to general piracy, they spent a fortune to make a game that does less than a ten year old game, and a feature in several of the recent AC games. How? Why?

I didn't get into gaming to hangout with other people. Glad someone said it

Was so happy I had time to play the free trial weekend, as I got to the largest ship in that time, and really got a feel for why not to buy it, and just play Black Flag instead.

The only live service game I'm truly enjoying right now is Helldivers 2

That skelly cat is so cute i'm tempted to just yar harr the game, yoink those assets, and then delete all the other unnecessary files off my computer.

Skull and bones is terrible so im not defending it but my god is Helldivers 2 overrated , its a good game but its the same thing over and over i have played about 20 hrs i dont see how its getting so much praise , gues people are just happy to have a decent game for a change after so many dissapointments

This game was made to take singapore's subsidy money. Money was game industry promotion in singapore but they used it as holiday destination for executives

They could have spent all that time and money rebuilding Black Flag in the Origin/Odyssey/Valhalla engine and adding multiplayer support. That would be an infinitely better game.

'Black Flag without the stuff that made it fun' is the best summary of this game I've heard. Probably because it's what everyone is saying XD

I love how this game showcases and proves everything Sea of Thieves insisted they were right about. Example: Players: We want unlockable and configurable cannon types and arrangements. Sea of Thieves: No you don't, we want to keep this game balanced so that everyone has an equal shot in a fight Skull and Bones: _We_ have unlockable cannon types and arrangements. Players: I cannot sink anyone who is exactly one level higher than me.

Sea of Thieves so much infinitely better.

The idea of a ship combat game thats a lot like black flag, is a really good idea! But NO BOARDING!? NO SWASHBUCKLING!? What the hell!?

Skull and Bones managed something no game did before. I read the review from Die Zeit about it. Why? They had actual employees from Ubisoft Mainz trying to explain this mess. Which was funny as heck because they kept repeating that their Studio wasn't directly involved in any of the development of this title as they were busy with their ~8000th Anno.

When i saw it, i was like "Grand theft auto, but with pirates?!?" And then they told me it was essentially a naval combat sim. You scurvy dogs! AVAST!

It's pretty ridiculous that everybody super praised Black Flag and all it offered, and then Ubisoft asked all of us if we'd want a non assassins creed pirate game. And so of course we wanted it! But then, they eliminated soooo much of what made black flag fun. Including the boarding and hand to hand combat. It's wild that they made that decision.

I would like to have a suggestion for you to say at the end of the next video, from battlefront, two 2005: “watch those wrist rockets” or maybe, “that’s a point for the CIS.”

Whats worse is that they literally took Black Flag and took the cool parts out and made a new map, but there's nothing to do. Hell I even went through the season challenges and got all my marks in a week.
