And it was not a good trailer. IMO.

New Vegas is one of those old school RPG's where the bullet originates not from the barrel of your weapon but from the center of your player character. Understanding this makes accuracy much better!

All bullets in 3 and NV veer to 2 o'clock. This was incredibly useful knowledge to have while sniping long distances. It's not as bad on NV. In 3 you would score a max distance head shot by aiming just left of the bottom rib.

Maybe it's that plethora of mods I've installed but that doesn't seem the case for me

I never had a problem with the combat personally. There is a huge accuracy debuff at the start of the game, but once you invest some skill points it actually feels like your character is improving as they go. I also liked how unarmed builds were given a lot of love, with martial arts moves you can learn from teachers throughout the wastes. I think the biggest downside to this fallout was only getting perk points every second level; the very first mod I ever got for the game reverted it to FO3 style leveling.

I think the biggest downside of _Fallout: New Vegas_ was all the stuff that had to be cut due to time/console/engine constraints. I really wish the game had been made after _Fallout 4_ rather than _Fallout 3,_ not that the engine is much improved but everything else is.

The Dev team was constrained by Bathesda was a lot of the feeling I got from the game, great story telling, locations, characters, vibe etc but.... They had to build it with Bathesda's pre-existing Fallout 3 engine which was the old fallout turn based top down system in some ungodly marriage with 1st person shooters. Great for games like Fallout 1, 2 and tactics but really bad in a 1st person shooter. If I remember it was the original team or lead by the creators of the series but since they had changed their system already in tactics in a wildly fun to play way I feel they would have created their own system for 1st person if they had the chance to.

@@nathanlevesque7812 Modding Fallout 4 is easier than modding Fallout 3/New Vegas, I should know having made and used many mods with both. You are completely right in saying that Fallout 4 lacks the mechanical depth of New Vegas, it is a terribly simplified game even after survival mode added some complexity back in, but Fallout 3 also lacks that depth and Obsidian still managed to add it in excellently. I firmly believe that the right team, with sufficient passion and skill, could not only make an excellent New Vegas in the Fallout 4 engine but do so better than Obsidian did with the Fallout 3 engine.

You know a game is really good when it has 4 DLC expansions & all of them are great. Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, & Lonesome Road are all so good!

I mean people debate wich one is best on Fallout 4 it sold more got better reviews on release aka before moded, has better mods, better mod support. And NV fanboys are still like "well I liked this one better after I crammed it full of so many mods I almost broke the game!"

FNV is unique among fallouts in that not only are all 4 dlcs good, but they all connect with each other into an epic saga, and even ties right back into the main game itself. That's almost unheard of in popular video game franchises. Meanwhile you get to play with custom-designed robots in Fallout 4.

New Vegas is so special to me. Its probably my most replayed game ever.

Please do one on the DLC's. They're practically their own games!

I did a full one punch man run (before he was a thing), skilled in stealth and melee and I would just crouch and one shot everything with pneumatic fists. With exploding meatbag perk equipped, everything was just flying flesh afterwards.

It's not the best of the series, it's extremely dated with bare bones mechanics and is incredibly, unbelievably, boring by modern standards. You can like whatever you want but just know it's literally impossible for you to like that game without nostalgia blinding you. No offense.

if you are on PC explore modding that fixes most known issues. And make sure to make a different make a different save every 5 minutes there are game breaking bugs and glitches.

Still love this game. I'm a little sad that he didn't mention spending 6 hours threatening Chet during the tutorial to start the game at max level on console.

Tips for Caravan: -make a deck of cards with values 6 and up, and all face cards besides Queens. -The Caravan AI's are simple, and can be predicted. -Nobark has the highest cash, making him the best source of large early game income. The next best is the merchant at the fort. You will need to be allowed in legion territory, but since he's a merchant with unlimited games, he's good.

I once visited a whole city based on Fallout. Turns out it was just Cleveland.

The best part of the combat was unironically the levergun, that game gave me a hard-on for Winchester repeaters in what turned out to be a very formative experience.

That "New Game Plus" joke hit me. I loved this game but I'm still salty cause I lost my backup saves when the ApocalyPS3 shutdown happened, and the only one that remained was after the final mission started so I can't even go back and do anything. I was hoping for some post-game DLC to continue the story (with Caesar's wicked sword) like Fallout 3 did, but it never came.

Damn…am I gonna have to go replay New Vegas AGAIN?

@@clothar23 You're right. 4 didn't have Strength and Skill Requirements. But I want them back in the new Fallout games. With the reward for meeting those requirements being the improved gunplay animations from Fallout 4.

One of the best games of all time. I still play it every once in a while. It's so fun.

I figured you would bring up this survivor mode where even bullets have weight and it was one of the first games to try and make the game feel more realistic.

We still want Fallout New Vegas 2

Still my favorite immersive RPG of all times. Of course need it heavily modded to play these days. Been hoping for a remake of it using the latest graphics and with all the bugs fixed.

The game sure has many familiar voice actors in it. For instance, Craig Boone was voiced by Jason Marsden, known for voicing Max Goof in Disney media.

the only real issue with the combat is that the bullets are given a % chance to hit, so even if you KNOW you got a hit, it's all up to the math to decide...

People just don't understand how to play it, guns are super satisfying most of the time, and with melee weapons I do 360s and smack NPCs across the room. I honestly don't like any other games combat as much, Skyrim is close tho.

Only mechanics from 4 I'd want in a New Vegas Remake are: >Quick looting. >Power Armor. But heavily tweaked in FNVR where there's no fusion core mechanic and Power Armor Training gets multiple levels to limit power armor's usefulness. You can still use power armor without training, you just suck at it. >Improved gunplay. But only if you meet the weapon's Skill and Strength requirements. >Item animations. I'd like all Aid Items to play an animation when consuming them. Stimpaks being injected, Jet being huffed, food being eaten, bottles being drunk from, etc. The rest can rot with 4.

@@DJWeapon8 I'd keep the base building as an optional feature, create your own outpost for personal use. Or when you help/ liberate an area, give you the ability to fix it up and get people to move back in. Just the building part, automate everything else.

@@DJWeapon8 I personally liked the base building cause it felt like I was making a noticeable impact on not just the people in the wasteland, but the environment itself. I wish that was more heavily featured in the fallout games, like as you help settlements they get bigger, have more npcs that give you quests and services. Like help Novac with the ghoul infestation and several new junk traders with better quality goods appear after a few weeks with some new homes built.

Caravan isn't really all that complicated, it's just stupid that the face cards don't have tooltips to remind you what they do.

Just replaced my old Alienware R11 with the newest R15 last week and the first game I started up was FNV just to make sure it works. It was an unmodded version so when I get around to actually doing another playthrough (have well over 1k hours in this game) I'll need to re-install the graphic and bug fix mods. Surprised to see this review of my favorite RPG of all times. FYI - ShoddyCast vids on YT do a great job of going over the FNV lore for any that are interested in the story.

I’m glad someone is pointing out ten absurdity of how it’s considered “Bad Karma” to take items belonging to Powder Gangers and yet it’s considered “Good Karma” whenever I kill them 🤣

They would do this Honest Trailer as I decide to finally play it. Fallout 4 brought me into the Fallout world but this one made me love it even more.

I'm still playing this game at least once a year.

God. I gave my cousin a copy. He now has a resounding hate for me because he will never get a game made or like NV again. He finished it all and even wants to do a second I told him too. We're on console so we have to do goofy stuff for perfect characters. I told him to try it and hopefully he will. It's timeless. Made me love jazz and even replaying it 10plus years after seeing it in Game informer, while I was in Middle school. I'm happy I bought it 3 times over.
