    I own one and I like it a little bit more each and every time I hop on it. I almost bought a Scout and decided to try out a bigger bike to see what it was about. COMPLETELY different worlds, the Scout and the Chief. I was in awe at how different the two were. So glad I didn't go HD.

I was looking for a bike that suits better my size. I loved the Road King but difficult to maneuver. When I tested the Dark Horse took my 5 min to decide to buy it... Because it has a bold size but easier to ride and move around for someone which is 1,73cm tall. Thanks for the the review

    When Polaris debuted Victory they out handled and out braked HD. They slowly began eating into what HD had always assumed to be their exclusive market segment. I think this was one of the main reasons HD changed their touring frames and along with increasing emissions regulations, spurred the creation of the Milwaukee eight engines. Without direct competition HD would still be building the same old bikes.

    Justin, I didn’t make it through the break in period on my scout. I immediately traded up for a 2019 Chief Dark Horse. I took a pretty big hit but regret NOTHING! I saved myself thousands by buying chieftain take off slip ons, adding the hard bags from a Springfield and slapping the freedom works windshield. People always mistake it for the Springfield and are shocked when I tell them it’s just the Chief. You won’t regret it once you get it on the highway. Just a bit of advice if you make the switch; Get a Captain Itch’s crotch cooler. Save your stones from the heat of the rear cylinder and header.

    Great video and review. Well done! Never rode one but so far always heard good things. Couple of points don't quite agree with though. #1 the dealer network is nothing compared to say Harley Davidson. Actually about 7-1. Hopefully that will increase over time but for now not so great. #2 Polaris owns them and basically brought the Indian brand up from the ashes to where no one else could before and did a stellar job of it. That being said, we saw them kill off Victory in one quick stroke a few years after acquiring Indian. Neither of which has shown a profit. (Arguably the parent companies massive powersports sales are funding the endeavor) I'd be afraid that with overall motorcycle sales declining in all markets that Polaris will soon tire of the red ink and cease production without warning. From that point of view they don't look so attractive.

    Talked to my dealer here in town about why he doesn't add Indians. He said he'd like to but the company has too many restrictions. They want a whole section of the showroom just for Indians being displayed. He doesn't have the space for that.

    Victory lost over $100 million in 18 years. The reason Polaris focused on Indian is because its sales exploded. Granted, they need to make smaller and less pricey bikes, but HD is in MUCH worse shape in every way. By the way, the only reason HD still exists is because of government money and protection. When a company asks for big daddy government to come save their butts, that's essentially an admission of business failure - which HD has been since the AMF days, propped up by money stolen from the taxpayers and unfair tariffs. At least Indian had the dignity to die in 1953 without running to the government, then bragging about "staying in business since 1903." what a load of crap.

    E I bought it about 4 months ago. At about 3000 miles, I started noticing an excessive amount of oil coming out of my air cleaner and just leaking in general. I took it in and they gave me the bullshit of my oil level being to high. It still leaked after they drained my oil to the “correct” level and they then told me I had an aftermarket oil filter (FRAM) and some bad rocker box gaskets. The third time after it was still leaking, they said I had a failed oil pump. And then just a few days ago, it started leaking again after having it for a day. It’s in the shop for the fourth time in 30 days

    @@justinmackenzie559 sucks, is warranty covering it? I'm actually having some interesting experiences as well (brought brand new sport glide) but mainly due to the dealer. First they gave me the wrong key to the steering lock and bags, gave me the wrong sissy bar attachment, oh and they decided not to set the security system so my bike can be started and ridden with no fob within a mile of the bike, and neutral is pretty much impossible to find at a stand still. Oh I didn't mention the dealer is out of state so basically they just told me I'm SOL and local dealers want to charge $45 to set the security system. Besides those issues and getting the correct accessories in the mail I love the bike. I just hope most harley dealers aren't this incompetent.

    I test rode this bike at an Indian dealer in San Marcos, CA. and it rode very nicely indeed, but for me I was not to crazy about the look of the bike (just my opinion and taste) not saying it's ugly just not for me, I test rode the 2019 Harley Sport Glide and purchased it right away, I just fell in love with the looks the handling and the fact that you can turn it from a mini bagger to a stripped down cruiser that was just the kind of bike I was looking for. And it is in my humble opinion beautiful.

    The new Fat Boy 114 has substantially more power, and lower weight than the Dark Horse. 86HP 107TQ 700lbs fully loaded vs 74HP 100TQ 736lbs empty weight. The Fat Boy maybe more expensive, but it also has an LED Headlamp, and standard oil cooling. Both of which indian does not give you. Thats 720$ plus labor, if you want those features. The new fat boy also has a very unique set of wheels. They're very expensive to make, because they're CnC machined out of cast aluminum, and they're then polished. They're 2500$ a set. The Fat Boy also has the Showa Dual Bending Valve front end, which is better than the Indian Fox OEM front forks. Fat Boy has an adjustable rear Show monoshock, and the Dark Horse as a Fox rear mono shock. Indian's accessories are much more expensive than Harley as well. For example if you want a Sissy bar Setup with a sport rack, you're gonna be paying 550$ from Harley, but 970$ from Indian. Stage 1 pipes, tuner, and KN filter from harley will be 920$, Stage 1 Pipes, airbox, no tuner device(they only give you a dyno run map), is 1400$ from indian. Depending on endcaps. So you're paying a lot more for a stage 1 for your Indian. Highway bars? 220$ for the standard one or 280$ for the mustache one from Harley. Indian is charging 410$ for their standard high way bars. Heated Grips? 280$ from Harley, 310$ from Indian. ect. ect. In the features and cost of ownership, the Fat Boy wins.

    @deplorably yours Polaris' new mission in life is to take HD down. They're definitely going after them and have the money to do so. HD maybe not gone entirely but can definitely see them losing a most of their market share

  • @EP-rq3pn

    @EP-rq3pn

    3 жыл бұрын

    @deplorably yours Good point, but I don't think they were trying to take HD down with Victory, but rather simply competing. Now that they've acquired the Indian name, they're really doing it right this time. They're gaining attention, following and traction in the market. It's easy to see why a new brand like Victory wouldn't make it far competing with Harley. But Indian? Yeah. They're converting die hard Harley fans in record numbers and they've only revamped the brand in the 'oughts. And if Harley execs keep doing stupid things like laying off half their workforce and blaming current Prez because he gave the company MORE money through tax cuts, well, that will turn even more people away and may also be an indicator of other bad business decisions in the future. I'm not hating on Harley, but if I had the money, I'd definitely be buying stock in Polaris.

  • @EP-rq3pn

    @EP-rq3pn

    3 жыл бұрын

    @deplorably yours Yeah, I agree, but HD better fix their current (Major) financial troubles or there won't be any competition. But definitely, the competing will up the ante and standards for sure. I've only known one guy with a Victory. Looked gorgeous and was good quality, but I'd have to do more research before I'd buy. Just to be clear, Polaris didn't scrap V because it wasn't viable, but after buying Indian rights, it wouldn't make sense for them to own 2 companies competing with each other. But Indian and HD are both great options.
