The rear spacers are different sizes?! Glad I watched this video. I just did my rear bearings last weekend and I I put it back together without checking. I had a 50/50 chance of putting it together right, so I can guarantee I put it together wrong. Lol I am refreshing my 2003 right now. Long live the King of BAJA!

I tried that titanium wrap and found it actually increased the radiated heat which was melting my airbox. I verified this with a digital thermometer. Got my money back!

Titanium is a poor conductor of heat.

Love the xr650r s I found the airbox set up ok but I found out if you crack the throttle from idle there isnt enough air cause the bottom 3/4 of the air cleaner filter has no access to air mediately It has to suck at the hard tbrough the smallish opening and deadens the ability to hit as hard You notice this when you jet to suit even more and even more again with a pumper carb All of these mods dont change half to top power but hugely change instant torque from bottom If you go pumper make sure the pump comes on instantly when slide is lifted and stays on for .8 of a second or close to that duration I bought a hsr42 but had to custom make adaptors Change sides of throttle and grind the tank a bit and the put a heavyer Spring on to the pump cause it wouldnt squirt on time and was delayed qhich made it useless The hs 40 would go straight on i think The 41 mx keihin would be the best but reqires more set up time but worth it Just my experience with the xr If you enjoy it how it is great No need to spend money

Super impressed with the XR650R. I have been on the lookout since seeing these videos. I am considering trying an "Adventure Ride" of some sort this summer and if I can find one I would like to use the 650R. Have you done much overnight multi day off road camp trips on this XR? If so how did it go and can you recommend the bike for that purpose?

I don't know it's been so long, it's a two piece, you can take the front off so it's a lot shorter for super motard use. I used to have the whole super motard rims setup that the bike came with.

Curious what engine work you have done in the 100,000 miles. Great video!

I did the Top End, cam chain, and had the valves done. That is it. Bike keeps on going, I'm shooting for 2021, maybe do a run down Baja for it's 20's birthday.

The SmartCarb for the XR650R fell through but yes the bike build was finished. I'm riding the bike.

Hey, did you ever notice an on and off vibration at highway speeds? On mine it comes and goes starting at 110kmh (65mph) 1second on 1second off... If I speed up to 120kmh (75mph) it does the same but at half a second intervals.. always constant depending on the speed. Thank you

Francisco Campelo could be a chain issues. Maks sure it has no tight spots. If it had you need to bin it. Make sure it is lubed and adjusted properly. It make a huge difference on my bike if it is out of adjustment.

How do you find the ims tank to the acerbis? I'm guessing that's the ims 4.6 gallon? And was the big Sahara acerbis im tossing up between the two for my 650r and interested in your thoughts please. Thanks

I liked them for different reasons. IMS 7 Gallon was a lot of tank and a lot of plumbing to deal with and most people wouldn't need such a huge tank, same for the Acerbis 6.5/Gal. The 4.6/ Gallon IMS is the way to go, more then enough fuel for most dual sporting that people will do.

Hi ! I bought xr650r with supermoto wheels, could you tell me the secret what wheels/ hubs i can used from other bike to ride off road ?? :) I live in poland so there is big problem to find original fit's to xr 650 r , yeah i know - ebay and US but they define overprice :)

I'm not sure on your solution then, any 21" rim (Front) or 18" rim (Rear) will work, I guess the trick might be buying the hubs. I did a quick search and see the UK has some stuff www.xr650r.co.uk/newparts/wheels/wheels.shtml You might be able to just buy the rims and take the supermotard hubs off and use those as your offroad hubs. Of course that would mean no super motard setup.

I'd luv to find an XR650R at a reasonable price. Maybe an 02-07 . Looked all winter so far not even one for sale. I'm in southeaster part of U.S. any ideas I'd appreciate. I don't have a lot to spend and I know I probably won't find one b4 summer but I'm trying.

Why did you zip tie the lower shrouds? Has the thread gone for the bolt?

1) No hole matches up 2) I never ran the shrouds before so no clue what held them on 3) Easiest method and even my Gas Gas at this point I have zip tied on...lol Easier to do, less worries and cheap.

Making a comment on a very old video isn't worth much either. Wheels, tank, pegs etc...don't like it then don't even bother with a comment. Your comment and my response help KZread say "there is interaction with this video" and guess what they promote if more dumb sh!t. So thank you!
