Older Harley rider here, I sat on the 1100T yesterday. I love it for the weight and DCT. Light Touring just a fun looking bike. Love the single saddle idea, but that seat is a slab. Honda could have done better in the butt comfort area for us older(no butt) gentleman. That being said I am looking to trade my Kawasaki 1700 in for this bike. Clear roads and following winds to all.

It’s a great option and the rebel is a proven platform. I’d love to test ride one soon. Did you find yourself a little cramped? It’s a small bike so I’m curious how long you can really ride it comfortably. Thanks for the comment!

@@IronBornRider I was not cramped at all. I’m 5’9”. 220lbs. The handlebars could maybe come up about 4” If and when I get this bike. There are a few, very few, things to add to make it suit me. Better seat, bar risers, and maybe a Vance and Hines pipe.

I have a foot problem since birth, and in the last few years I’ve lost almost all flex in my ankle. So, like you, a few years ago i sold my traditional shifting bikes and got a 2014 CTX700N with DCT. It’s a game changer. I also had a Honda Navi for scooting around town. I think I gotta upgrade to the Rebel now! This DCT technology is going to keep me riding for years to come.

I had the base Rebel 1100 dct, you have complete control over the bike regardless of the dct. My opinion is that the dct gives your more control than manual because not only do you have the automatic transmission but you can also use the paddle shifters and cruise control, how much more control do you need? I don't think there is any more control that you can find over your bike other than the dct.

For touring Honda makes the NT1100 DCT BUT, they are not selling it in the USA. The Rebel is not a good substitute. Why they aren't selling the NT here is nuts. It is getting rave reviews in Europe. I am ready to buy one but if they don't get them here this spring, I am switching to Kawasaki and the Versys 1000. Sorry Honda. This rebel version is not tempting at all. Especially for two up riding.

For a touring model, it’s still one of the cheapest entries whereas Kawasaki and Yamaha and gasp HD are substantially more. I like the overall aesthetic but the gas tank is just too small. If they could find a way to get 5 gallons in there you could have something more promising. Regardless. It’s Honda. It’ll sell really well.

I'm late here but I see it as a daily rider, your work horse that you can put those local miles on while you have your real touring bike or your baby at home for more free riding. If it weren't for the dct and maybe a bigger tank I probably would have bought the red one as a daily

They should have beefed up the Shadow and gave it this bag and fairing treatment. The name rebel is forever stamped in your brain as the small bike you learn on and move on from. It definitely undercuts the low rider st and the sport glide but it's also not even in the same league as those bikes

I agree with you 100%. The dct only in the USA is a massive miss! The one market in the world where you better have a manual transmission with a clutch is the USA market!! The home of Harley Davidson and you try to force a, automatic motorcycle on everyone? That is not going to work and it would be a complete dealbreaker for me. No way I want that dct. Also the name implies it rivals, well, baggers. But it doesn’t. It’s a street bike with bags and a small fairing. A great bike, but not a “bagger”. Still love the idea, the concept, all that. Dct, is a huge miss here in the states! Huge miss!

You can choose manual shifting. You just use paddle shifters instead of clutch lever and toe shifter. Complete control. I hear the range is about 150 miles with that 3.6 gallon tank. That would be time for my typical rest break so I’d just do that at a gas station.
@a99miata Жыл бұрын

Yeah the name kinda sucks, but…technically since it has hard bags, it is a bagger. They hold more than it looks. Certainly not the size of HD hard bags but enough for weekend trips. The bike has a manual shift option though that comes in the form of paddle shifters, so no clutch lever or foot shifter, but you can choose when to shift up or down or engine break. And that is much smoother than quick shifters.

Dct kinda sucks. When it downshifts due to heavy throttle it stays in lower gear for way too long afterwards. I'm starting to manually upshuft after the dct gear kick down. Defeats the whole purpose of automatic transmission I paid 900$ more for.

I guess it's more an urban bagger, maybe i coined that term, for around town and local jaunts. Throw a laptop in it, commute to work, take the long way home after work. DCT would be unacceptable to me tho. Great, honest look at the bike. If Honda seriously wants to be taken in the American market, they need a manual transmission. I imagine that would take a grand of the sticker too. For that price difference add bigger bags and you're good.

This bike would be good for a commuter bike for someone who needs storage space for things they need when heading to work. Weekend bike or a few day trip bike would work to.
