2022 Honda CMX1100 - The Big Rebel Ridden & Reviewed

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The 2022 Honda CMX1100 enters the cruiser market as another bike in the Honda range based around the 1100 Parallel Twin motor. Is this a good engine for the bike's intended use, well I delve into that in the video. The bike is also available with Honda's DCT gearbox, which could well suit a cruiser perfectly. Sometimes image is everything with this type of motorcycle, so how will the Big Rebel stack up against its American cousins?

I have this bike (DCT model purchased in 2/2022). I am 5'6"+ and this bike fits me well. One of the primary reasons to purchase this bike was that I could get my feet on the ground. I really wanted a touring bike but it would take too many modifications (not practical) to get to my comfort level. The Honda Rebel 1100 is easy to maneuver in tight spaces and really fun to ride twists and sweeps. I did modify the pegs forward and replaced with larger pegs for riding comfort. I ride mostly in sport mode and find the throttle sensitive, but that just means I need more road time practice. I consider myself an immediate rider having only been riding for 3+ years. I would not recommend this model for a beginner, but that's just my opinion. All in all, I give this bike a thumbs up. Thank you Man Cave Moto for the review - well done.

Like me, with '23 bagger version is what you need for a tourer, an ex-demo DCT should be under £10k by mid-summer '23, you're about £300 for a Mustang seat, and as above, the tank capacity is an issue, but I plan to buy a FCR(France-Google their bikes)or get one made similar... can't think of anything better to ride to southern Europe one...oh, smaller rear sprocket for long haul trips, gearing is a bit low, extend your fuel range too

I have the 2021 DCT version and I ride that thing almost every single day down here in Florida. SO glad I bought it. I've modified the exhaust (Two Brothers Racing), the handlebars (Burly Brand 12" apes) forward controls (T-Rex racing), and finally a deluxe Corbin seat. Now, I'm going to ride the wheels off this thing...cheers!!!

If this bike had been around in 2020 when I started riding and bought my iron 883, I would have absolutely bought this instead, no doubt about it, end of discussion. I loved the whole sportster/cruiser looks and vibe, but with the performance, price, and tech on this bike it would have won me over in a heartbeat. But it wasn’t, and I didn’t get one, and now I’m on Harley number two, a ‘21 Low Rider S. I guess it has worked out for me so far? I do really like this bike still, and would absolutely take this over the new Harley 975 night-bike. Especially with Honda reliability to turn to.

I got an iron 883 right now as well! I'm not sure if I wanna get another harley or not but this 1100 seems to be on the table for me right now more than all the others I've been looking at haha. I was sitting on one of these and messing around with it, and I was shocked to feel how it was much more balanced and lighter than my iron. Granted ive only been riding for close to a year

First thing I noticed on the Rebel 1100, I'd put the rear brake on the handlebars, one Nissin master cylinder, and a short line to the ABS pump, sorted(who needs a rear brake light on the rear brakes apart from the MOT inspector?) Mustang seat a must, and you can MAKE open,de-cat pipes for under £200(Lextek headers off an Africa Twin, a grinder a a Cabrerre tip for £32 off eBay). Tank is the main issue, FCR(France) made a beautiful replacement, but they're not selling them as of yet, those have to be 20+litres!(get one made out of metal, plenty skilled guys in the UK that do such things yet?). Overall, I'm interested, awaiting the release of the '23 bagger version.... Oh, fit the aftermarket rear light off of a Yamaha Bolt, why Honda thought putting something rectangular on a bike where everything else is round, I'll never know?

Just coming up to a year of ownership on my 1100 DCT, the DCT was a bit of a punt but after getting used to it I think its fantastic, I did ditch the suitcase off the side and fitted a two brothers slip on which looks and sounds better, although I did end up fitting the baffle to the TBR which was still louder than the OEM.

My buddy's son just bought this bike for his first bike. Ive been riding Harley Davidsons for 30 years but Im not a bike snob by any means. I rode his bike, from what Im used to I find it under powered. But....I will say this is a nice bike, especially for a beginner. I will say without a doubt, it is one of the most rider friendly bikes that I have ever rode. I do agree its not a all day cruiser. However, if you're a beginner OR a experienced rider looking for something to ride around town, this is a good choice. Its not a big V Twin or a big heavy smooth riding Harley but it is a hell of a good entry level to intermediate bike. I would recommend it to anyone just looking to get on a bike and not consumed by brand. Its a helluva a fun bike to ride for sure.

It’s governed at 100mph. You won’t hit anything past that without some electronic trickery. The max recorded speed on it so far is about 104mph. Doesn’t have much guts/gears to go faster. You’d have to get more aero to squeeze some more top end before changing out gearing.

I drove a 750 shadow for years, then a VTX1300, and now the Rebel 1100. 750 is like an 1100 with training wheels.

That there isn't absolute carnage on those narrow roads is beyond me! I would never even think of driving those roads much less on a motorcycle. But then again, stateside we have lots of road rage incidents! .. and the guns!. .so there's that.

I’m sure it’s a lovely bike - Honda quality etc - nice to ride …..but I just can’t look at it! It’s a styling problem (for me).I think it’s the fuel tank that lets it down.

My question? I own a 2019 African Twin and love it but looking for a bike to ride with my wife , it’s hard to cruise on a African Twin? Can you really cruise on a Rebel 1100 ? Or maybe 🤔 it’s not the bike’s problem and it’s just me ? Haha 😂 thanks 🙏

Have you looked at the Goldwing? I bought it specifically for its 2 up capability. I’ve ordered the Rebel 1100 for my wife, so we will be mixing it up…sometimes 2 up on the wing, sometimes riding separately together. I do love my wing though, I can barely tell my wife is back there, no kidding.
