Thanks for that.Traded 2016Triumph america for one of these (burgandy).loved the triumph but this will be more of a 'do it all' bike while keeping the lower riding position.DCT/Cruise control will be a help especially with hands that can get sore now i'm older. Finally arrived in the 21st centuary !

I am thinking of getting this bike or the Vulcan S as my first 2 wheel bike. I have been riding a Can-am Ryker for a year and would like to have a 2 wheel bike also. Any suggestions?

I'd personally get the Rebel 1100 over the 650 Vulcan as it has more power. The Vulcan wins my vote over the 500 Rebel though

How tall are you, RZ? Do you feel cramped? I am thinking of getting an 1100 DCT and have a 32'' inside leg, so not that tall. Good news about the smooth shifting in manual mode.

I was mostly worried about the brakes. They look like they could be insufficient for it. I’m comparing it with the Triumph speedmaster that has dual discs in the front but no dct unfortunatly.

DCT is nice but would be a nightmare for someone who isn’t skilled at low speed maneuvering. Would need lots of practices on throttle control

  • @RevZolution

You get used to it quickly and as the bike is low you're pretty much walking it about flat footed

  • @mig50cc

You would have to elaborate, because as someone who just completed the MSF course I can't see how your comment makes sense. If a novice rider is attempting low speed maneuvers on a manual (like U-turns in the box) they would have a tendency to grab the clutch instead of managing it correctly. As we know, "clutch in" cuts the power to the rear wheel, slowing down the bike and making a tipover likely unless the rider accelerates. But they more than likely drop the bike because, along with grabbing the clutch, the rider grabs the front brake lever due to reflex or they don't know better. In this case the idea with the DCT is clear: fully automatic capability with no clutch lever on the left handlebar means you only have to manipulate the throttle (and if necessary the rear brake) when doing low speed maneuvers. In my humble experience this makes low speed maneuvers the furthest thing from a nightmare.

@@mig50cc You just have to try both and see for yourself, man. It is easier to figure out where your friction zone is on a standard than an automatic for low speed maneuvering.
