That Fortuna NSR500 of Kato’s was a missile, the only 2 stroke in ‘02 that had a realistic chance of beating an RC211V. I believe it was quicker than all the Yamaha YZR-M1’s that year. Someone in the comments mentioned about if the 2 strokes were allowed 990cc’s. Can you imagine that kind of power? Certainly 300bhp and a huge torque advantage

In 2002 the World Championship motorcycle road racing 500 cc class were changed drastically, with four-stroke engines being allowed to grow up to 990 cc and up to six cylinders. The name of the class was changed to MotoGP

Wow Kato's 2 stroke Honda still exists! Man I miss those days of watching Kato. My favourite rider of all time. One of the most saddest things was that Kato was only just getting started. I'm sure he would've gone on to win the championship had he lived. He was so good. Love you Kato

There is nothing like the smell of two stroke exhaust first thing on the morning of race day. I really miss that sound and smell at motocross races nowadays.

2 stroke has more power, NSR 200bhp with 500 cc engine, RC211V 240bhp with 990 cc....double engine. Which will be more power full if also NSR had 990 cc engine ?

@@vincenzosalvia3143 plus the 4 stroke as 3 lazy strokes before the power unlike the 2 stroke ....which of corse makes the 4 stroke more friendly to ride and the two stroke requires huge man balls to ride

king of the 250cc bikes, it was louder, it had more power and was faster than the 2 strokes. If satan was a 250 gp bike he would be the RC166

#74 , Daijiro Katoh , Team Fortuna , that bike livery is awesome.

The 250 were the real racebikes with 110 hp and 100 kg. Faster then moto 2.
