My dad a friend and I did a longer trip from Maine to Alaska (13,000 miles) on an NC700x a Versys 650 and a Super Tenere. The NC handled the trip extremely well with it’s only real weakness being western roads with speed limits of 80mph/128 kph due to to the fuel economy drop and 3.7 gal tank. Honda just needs an extra half gallon/2L more fuel and it would be perfect. It’s not much fuss to just stick 2L extra somewhere if needed. The bike has excellent low speed handling and the trunk is a much better option than a tank bag. Finally the DCT is better than a manual transmission and I wish I could have it as an option not the Versys. Maybe Honda will make the CB4X concept into reality with the DCT. For now my dad’s about to pick up his second NC with the 2021 model. I’ll be curious to ride it myself and note the improvements. The 87 octane and 60-74mpg doesn’t hurt with them either for commuting or long miles.

Excellent review Mr. Fish. I bought a 2020 manual version earlier this year, now you are making me think I should have gone for the DCT! Either way, NC750x is a great bike. Does exactly what it was designed for, handles really well, and is quick enough for anyone except the real speed freaks.

I bought a '21 NC after having owned an older X and an older S (Swapped to an S because I'm a shorty). Bought blind because I knew I'd like it; but honestly I cannot get over how much of an all round improvement this new one is. DCT is better, engine is better, suspension is *miles* better. I like these bikes as they're great, stable, enjoyable platforms for touring and whatnot but finally an NC that's got a healthy bit of fun factor too. Plus the 270 crank does wonders for the engine note. Cracking review.

I have not seen a bad review of this bike! Honda seem to have finally perfected the design. One guy said it was pretty near a modern Deauville in usability. After my summer riding I may be looking at one of these - but in red. Great review Mr Fish.

I owned a 2015 DCT version. I bought a Kawasaki ZZR1400 and for a while ran both bikes. Truth be known the NC was far more fun with its usable power output, and ended up my 'go-to' machine. Highly versatile and stupidly frugal at 100mpg. Regret selling it now but will certainly be looking to replace it.

Great review as always! This is my next go-to but I was concerned about the seat to peg distance on this rascal as I'm built similar to you...long of leg. Most dealers in the states do not allow rest rides so I'm stuck sitting on them in the showroom and watching youtube. You tend to be my go-to cuz of the similar build, lots of info and humor. Hope you're getting on well, sir!

I just rented a manual NC750x for a week and I agree with your sentiments. This bike was really good. Enough power for me, very precise gearing, easy to maneuver, lovely engine burble. A fair bit of wind noise as you said, annoying and detrimental to one's hearing after a while, earplugs or not. I found the side stand a bit long so it had less lean angle when parked than I am used to. If granny/grandadmounting using the pegs, don't sit down too hard or it might fall over in the other direction (I found this out the hard way).

I bought a 750S as a winter hack. Didn't expect much but the bike has earned so much respect from me that, despite owning much more "exotic" stuff, it has become my "go to" ride. It's just so damned easy, practical and economical to ride. I've always preferred the look of the X but, being a bit of a short arse, the seat was just that bit too high. So... Thank you Honda, this new model has just become my next bike. As for DCT... I'm going to try it. (Can't quite believe I'm typing this).

Sounds like it's very much my kind of bike. I've test ridden the older one, but the low seat would suit me as I'm a short arsed, slightly built sort of chap. I don't think I'd have the screen issues either. Because of my height and the fact I like to sit bolt upright ideally I might like the bars moved back, that can be done I believe. I'm glad I've actually got one on order. Thanks for the review.

Mr Fish, thanks again for an interesting, nformative and fun video. I like the way you clearly go through the equipment on the bike and don't just gloss over it - knowing where stuff is on the bike is important in the long term, it isn't all about the horsepower! I went for a test ride on a DCT XADV and AT last week. The XADV has the same engine and was really good off the line and sounds great. Similar screen issue for me on it to your comments onthe NC750. AT was really good and liked it a LOT - more powerful of course, but smooth and effortless. Not sure between it and a GS - probably going to be down to the ££ !! Ride safe. Bob

Brilliant and very helpful review, and funny, too. It's worth mentioning that the design and layout of this engine makes valve adjustment very easy compared to modern inline fours, which require ridiculous amounts of disassembly just to access the valve cover, and camshaft removal to change the shims.

Love the review! I'm in the USA and we haven't received any 2021 NC750x's yet but I have ordered mine. I chose the non-DCT as I do like to shift. Mine is supposed to arrive in about 3 weeks but with all of the shipping delays to the US it will most likely be a longer wait. This bike is not as popular in the states as it is in the UK. That is probably due to the vast availability of large bore bikes here. For me, The NC750x appears to be the perfect bike. I can't wait to get my hands on it.

@@ivormorris1917 The 750s DCT is a commuter bike and okay for a day trip. The seat is ok for about an hour then you need to add a cushion! No regrets! But had those not come up it may well have been a 750X (DCT ofc) or a 500X... or a 500F. The 750X in particular is such a well-rounded package.

I have an NC700X manual and I think it's great. Not the fastest bike on the block but that's not what I want. Good for touring at a steady pace - blatting along autobahns at 120 it will not do but will comfortably run at 80 - 85. Best think I like - 80mpg, about 230 miles to a tank before fuel anxiety creeps in. I agree the screen is low. Mine came with a taller Honda screen but I added a Puig mini screen to stop the wind buffeting on the helmet peak. I'm 6' like you so usually have some issues with wind blast. I would like a better display but then this is a bike built to a budget. Starting to add all the nice fripperies and the price point starts to climb. Adding an aftermarket can gives much more presence in traffic AND an extra 2BHP. Woo Hoo.

Excellent review. I am interested in this bike. By the end of the video, you were saying that for you, the ergonomics were comfortable (compared to the beginning of the video). As I am tall at 6ft 1, this is something that is important for me too. I don't mind being a bit cramped but not uncomfortably so.

Took one for a test ride and, as I'd expected, very similar to my old S but with a bit more "go". Possibly a little less "oomph" lower down but nothing major. Bit disappointed that the screen didn't do more to reduce the wind buffeting, even at around 50-60mph. (it was a brand new bike 0 miles when I left so couldn't try it at higher speeds). One odd thing I did notice though was to do with the foot pegs/seating position. This new bike has a lower seat at 800mm compared to the older model and similar to the S at 790mm but, very annoyingly I found if I put my legs straight down (as I can on the S) then the foot pegs are in the way causing me to have to move my feet forwards and therefore ended up on the balls of my feet. Probably not an issue for a taller rider but very annoying for me at 5'7". Anyway. I can only assume it's the seating position as the foot peg mounting brackets look exactly the same. Apart from that. great bike.

Had a 2019 NC750X with loads of accessories. I tested the 2021 version last week and I ordered one. It pretty much got perfect for me (a little bit lower, less weight and more power, and a slipper clutch). Great review!

I like the improvements and wish that I could get a test ride to see what the whole package feels like. Even though I have ridden off and on for over 40 years, all of my experience has been with smaller, lighter motorcycles. Unfortunately, test rides are just not available where I live in the US. Apparently too many people have crashed while checking out new bikes

@@jfess1911 Don't you have the Honda Live Tour in the US? Here in Italy every week in a different part of the country you can try Honda bikes at selected dealerships. I've tried the AT DCT in may. Besides, i own the AT 1000, and i've been thinking about 'downgrading' to the new NC DCT: lighter, lower, less maintenance, better fuel economy, more luggage space etc. I'm gonna try one soon.

@@DerpEye Honda doesn't have any this year. Demo events are spread throughout the country and mostly during the summer. The nearest for any manufacturer (except Harley Davidson) this year is almost 600km from me.

I’ve had the bikes that go at warp speed, Ducati, Aprilia etc, but this bike does everything well, with comfort and will go. Everywhere you go now it’s cameras all over, you can’t find roads to go at warp speed and I’m fed up trying to get through traffic to find somewhere. I’m using this bike for touring at the moment, it carries plenty and nudges naughty speeds on motorways, what more do you want ? Oh and it does 80 to the gallon.

Mr Fish, I surely appreciate your efforts here on making a video and review on the later model NC750X DCT. I just purchased a '20 NC750X DCT and so far, I'm loving it. I learned about them not all that long ago, maybe a month. I wish I'd have seen this video prior to my purchase. I would have gone for a '21 or '22. I'm not fond of the color of the '23 model, at least what's available here in the U.S. anyway. I suspect there's different colors available for a '23 in other countries. Anyway, I like your opinion on all aspects of this bike. I'm pretty much in agreement with all of it. It's not a rocket ship but, it's quite peppy if and when needed. It's very nimble and while some reviews have claimed the brakes aren't that good, I find them just fine. Yeah, if you're the type that tries to stop in 10' while doing 90 mph, well, that's not gonna happen. But for the most part, all aspects of the NC750X are and prove to be, a great all around bike. Thanks again. SR

DCT seems like a must have with the low rev limit. Might take some getting used to. Style is better, the old ones looked cheap and dated around the headlight. Low horsepower, but more than my first bike, but my current bike has more than I need, especially on commutes in traffic or on urban motorways. I do like the storage, nice place to store helmet or lunch or whatever without saddling it up with storage boxes on day trips or errands.

Yes, my 30 HP scooter gets me the 30 miles to work in the same time as it takes on my 90 HP motorcycle, so for real world travel this Honda is eminently suitable. There's really no point in paying for power that you cannot use. I also like the fact that it is a low-revving engine, I don't like having to rev the nuts of a bike to get it moving. The low centre of gravity is also a plus point.

Over here in Canada we can buy the new NC 750X with the dual clutch for $200 CDN less than the Suzuki V-Strom 650X. No doubt the Suzook is better off-road, but I intend to only go on a few logging roads and gravel back roads from time to time so the V-Strom is out of the running. I like your videos bc of your "real world" attitude, and keep everything in proper perspective.

Got mine today.. it’s fabulous. Update after 2 days - - DCT is just awesome; takes away all hassles of gear shifting and it’s very close to how I would ride manually. So five stars. - Manual Mode - Even more fabulous! you’ve a complete control of everything just like any other motorcycle, and it performs just fantastic - Very comfortable ride; I rode through city streets which aren’t as good generally; felt bike stable and comfortable all the time. - Windshield - not sure if it’s very effective. I may order taller one. - USB charger and center stand - these are big misses. At least USB charger for sure. I checked with dealer to fit these two and they gave estimate of $500 for parts and labor. Honda could have added this very easily at fraction of the cost in this comparatively advanced motorcycle with all driving modes etc. Pretty disappointing to not have this.

Thanks, it was very nice review! It's more cruiser (with cramped legs position) than adventure bike. I was awaiting this new model with excitement and plan to purchase it, but it ended as a big dissapointment. Seat height of 80 cm and raised foot pegs position for 186 cm + tall people is simply uncomfortable. I shall wait and see announced new transalp 800/850 and in the meanwhile enjoy in my vespa 300gts.

I tested the dct nc750x 2021 model last week. Sport is equivalent to S3 on your bike. Standard is similar to S1 and Rain, D. User mode will allow you to “create” the equivalent to S2. I found Sport mode held the gears too long and the engine braking too much. I also used to ride in S2 Standard seemed pretty good actually.
