Honda Element over heating no check engine light

Cost you about $37.50 at advance auto parts store for the hoses and radiator cap.

Cannot thank you enough for posting this video, I was having a similar issue with my 03, and changing out the upper and lower hoses fixed the random over heating!

I had to get my Honda brand blue coolant from a Honda dealer. That fixed it

I'm using silicone hoses and have zero issues. Also changed the water pump, thermostat, seals & RTV sealant while I was changing out the water block since the threads for the belt tensioner where stripped by someone else. Never had to deal with the tight space. Also got an aftermarket Denso radiator so no issues there with the zerex asian blue coolant.

@@adamtlewis8340 it is a good car with a very good engine. The repairs were also a gift to my niece since the car was a hand-me-down from her parents which they never really kept up with maintenance that well. I completely changed out the suspension, engine mounts, oil leaks, a/c system and more just to get it road ready. It was the most repair friendly car I ever worked on.

@@ShadowxxPanda Seriously? I had such a hard time with lots of repairs on mine. Everything is just jammed into seriously tight spots

@@adamtlewis8340 A Toyota sienna and a few other cars were tighter. The only tight thing for the element would be the VTech gasket behind the belt tensioner, the serpentine belt, and the water pump but the pump was easier with the water block removed. The alternator, starter, and thermostat are easy since since all you need to do is remove the "T"bar and the plenum and you have easy access to those.

If you bypass the fans so they both stay on are you also bypassing the coolant sensor? My fan stopped working I'm thinking it's the sensor or a bad fan but I would like to bypass it and keep it on at all times because I live in Vegas

Are the OEM hoses spring reinforced? I use Honda hoses and antifreeze. I have never seen a Honda with a blown hose. I heard they have a proprietary rubber formula. It’s worth the extra few dollars.

That my friend can be bypassed. Unplug it. Then use a paperclip cut into a u shape and then use some electrical tape and zip ties to seal it in and strap it up from getting caught.
