    I have the 2007 model. Put 500+km on it in the past 3 days and got it up to a bit over 130kmh on a straight away (apparently will do 140-150kmh). I come from the dirt bike world and owned a 250cc 4 stroke and a 110cc 2 stroke. I gotta say this cbr is great for the daily commutes but doesn't fair to well in high winds considering its weight and all the fairings/ plastics. I live in farm country and the gusts get up to 100kmh+ from the open fields. Throws you all over the lane, I weigh about 160lbs and I'm 6ft tall.

    Hi LukeGreat review and very helpful for someone like me who is considering going for a 125 geared bike. Have never been a fan of bikes but when I moved to London and had to sell my car, I was getting fed up of using the packed tube and trains so decided to do the CBT and bought a Honda SH125. Its been great for commuting but it doesn't particularly look great ! As my CBT is due for renewal Ive been considering doing some gear training and Ive been looking at the CBR125 today infact. Cheers for the video All the best Scott

    I'm surprised how well you have everything in these videos they're very high quality and enjoyable, this video was also very good because I'm only 14 now(15 in august) but I've decided I want to get a bike when I'm 16 if I get an A1 license, the 2 bikes I was looking at was the Yamaha yzf r125 and the CBR 125 so thanks for being one of the only people to make this exact versus video, looking forward to more content in the future.

    hey man awesome review but I have a couple questions about the whole finance deal? how does it work and is it worth it?. most importantly are there hidden charges with financing? or is it just your monthly payment plus your insurance?. thanks again dude

    Camera and mike are good. I have the exact same bike but with stock exhaust, just over 100 miles. had the same dilemma between the CBR125 and the Yamaha, but the CBR125 best overall buy in my opinion with the 0% finance deal. I'm loving it. I'd agree the Yamaha looks a bit better, but not much, and a bit faster, but not much, but all 125's are slow so it doesn't make much difference really in the real world. I'll probably end up getting the CBR600RR I like it so much. CBR 125 dash is better, grips are better, easier to ride, leans well and feels more planted due to the bigger tyres. I've not put ANY fuel in it yet and have 2 bars left from when it was delivered with a half tank. Had the same issues on mine with over revving so trying hard to stick to 6k revs, but it is hard :) Tyres are surprisingly good, a bit weak in the wet but I avoid going on it in bad weather anyway. Looking forward to getting to the magic 600 mile mark and first service and then open up with it. Still getting jerky downshifts. Taken mine up to 64 so far but only early in breaking the engine - and I'm a fat bastard as well. I'd guess once broken in it will do 75+ without too many issues. Find it annoying already I don't have the power to get past cars at 50+ so can't wait to get my full licence and a 600cc+ bike. Final thing - I live in Cardiff if you want to hook up for a ride next time your in Wales let me know - I bought mine from the same place in Cwmbran I'd guess (Thunder Road). Ride safe!

    Amazing review, personally I have just hit the 200 mile mark on my CBR125R, same colour and year as yours and I can say that it is very confidence inspiring no matter what the weather. I am a new rider myself and can say that this bike is very easy to ride. I agree with you that the R125 is nice for its looks, but in terms of being user friendly and comfortable, it seems too big and scary for what it is. It's modelled around the R6 but the tyres are nowhere near the same size so it feels heavy and unsafe. If you have a lot of experience, an R125 wouldn't be a problem but for a beginner and a person who is only going to keep the bike for a few years, the CBR125R is definitely better. Also, the camera angle and microphone is perfect no problems there, hope to see more videos in the near future!

    I love this channel! You take a brand new bike... And destroy the engine. The break in time is to wear the piston rings into the piston chamber. Not to "grind" pieces of the engine off they tell you to do this so you can make the most of your engine and not have is seize up or start to have bad compressions after around 10,000-15,000 miles. What I also love about this is the fact you are telling us that once you reach 6,000+ RPM you are using a different part of the engine...? Of course! I am so stupid... I love the fact that you have only done 600 miles and you're talking about the tires not wearing at all... The Honda CBR is so light that it will hardly wear the tyres down and they should last for at least 7,000-12,000 miles. My Gilera DNA 50 has around 7,500 miles on them and they're only a quarter worn :D P.S - They're not engineers, they're mechanics and if they're telling you that the off balance that the piston that is creating vibrations in the engine is ok then... LOL - Good luck with the bike in the future...

    You make some good points, with regards to wear and tear however I feel I may not have communicated my point as well as I could have. What I meant was that although machining is very high precision these days there are still imperfections and some components like piston rings will change their size/expand. Particularly the parts of the engine/gearbox. By 600 miles these tolerances will have worked themselves out and the engine will have completed it's break-in period. The bike has now done 2,640 miles and still shows no sign of wear whatsoever, as you mentioned the bike is light and so wear will be considerably less than a heavier but comparable counterpart.

Personally I would say the CB125F would be more comfortable for a passenger, I have been on the back of a cbr125R and honestly it's not as bad as one would think! I would ask your local dealers if it would be possible for you and your wife to have a sit in the dealership and see which is better for you :)

    hi bro just came across your and have a few questions. i have no previous biking experience and I'm about to take my cbt once that accomplished I'll be getting a 125. I've been thinking about your bike and wanted to know, is it fast? and will it be big enough for me at 6 foot? also is it easy to ride as I've never rode before. thanx and ride safe.

  • @LukeRidesTV

    @LukeRidesTV

    8 жыл бұрын

    Hi Mate, this bike will easily do 60, can do 70 and will do more if you keep the throttle on long enough. As it reaches 60 without any difficulty you will find this bike to be fast enough. Having owned a few different 125's I can safely say you will not see a difference between the popular 125's on the market. As an example the R125 from yamaha is a couple of horse power stronger than the CBR 125R, having owned both I can say I felt no power difference, ashbandicoot who also owns a CBR 125R tested a r125 and feels the same way as me so I really wouldn't waste any time reading into power on these bikes. the CBR is fantastic for learners, in fact the best 125 I have ever ridden and I will be sad to sell it when I come to get a bigger bike. This thing will install so much confidence in you its ridiculous. - Just a side note, Honda do not pay me to advertise their products lol. Well put it this way, 6foot4honda used to ride a CBR 250R which is almost identical to the 125 in size and he found it very comfortable. I am around 5ft 9 and it is also very comfy for me as well. I hope that answers all your questions mate!

  • @LukeRidesTV

    @LukeRidesTV

    +Mikael K MT is a great bike, it is almost literally a YZF R125 without a few fairings. Honestly the CBR is more comfy that the YZF in all journeys, the Yamaha is a tiny bit faster which keeps you entertained but the CBR is so confidence inspiring that you are always leaning it over and taking advantage of the bike. If this is going to be your first bike I would highly recommend the CBR. You can always change to a YZF in the future as these bikes really hold their value over time, you could also consider getting a bigger Yamaha later like the R6, which is my plan. Either way both bikes are fantastic but the CBR, in my experience has been more entertaining to me. Have fun and ride safe!

  • @LukeRidesTV

    @LukeRidesTV

    8 жыл бұрын

    Hey, there is no emergency brake. To brake the fastest safest way possible (in the dry) you want to apply about 80% front brake and 20 back brake. The front brake equates to about 90% of your total braking power but be sure to squeeze and gradually apply more pressure. When I first got the bike I went to a parking lot and used a plastic bottle, I drove at it around 30 Mph and tried to brake as late as I could. First few times I locked up the brakes and it was bit scary, the experience was worth it. So many cars have pulled out on me and now I am able to slam the brakes on without locking them up, I advise you to do the same, to be safe. Have fun man and ride safe, but have fun!

    Hi Scott, I am 5ft 11 and I can flat foot the ground with a very slight bend in my knees. 6ft4honda used to ride a cbr250 which has very similar dimensions and he never had any issues so I would imagine you will be fine!

    You don't get an automatic upgrade to A license after 2 years. You have to take the test again.
