I have been wanting to buy a CBR 125 but I always hear mixed reviews on them. Some people say they are one of the best bikes ever and some people say the complete opposite.

Thanks for the honest review. Currently in the maket for my first 125 and like the look (and price) of the used CBR's, but it has been difficult to find an unbiased review such as this. Good vid. Funny too! Lovin the go faster stripes! Hahaha. Think I'll be havin me some of them! Lmao

Tip: For the CBR125 peak torque is at about 7,700rpm and peak power at 8,800rpm, if you want to take advantage of max power and torque when you accelerate (eg - for a 0-60) you need to aim for about 9,000rpm before changing gear ;) Looks like I'll on a CBR 125 myself in a couple of weeks, videos like this keep me going, keep it up!

@PaddyBishProductions I'd say it is. In my opinion, the only drawbacks it has are small tire sizes and low top speed, but everything else about it is spot on. A good cost-quality ratio, no doubt about that.

I've been riding mine for about a month now (07 model) and it's great fun! I even did a UK tour on it (about 750 miles over 4 days) If you are thinking of going for a sports bike at a later date, then this bike should suit you well - it's quick, agile, sporty looking, extremely cheap to run (80-90mpg) and holds it's value well. Just don't expect to bust much over 60mph, it does start to struggle when you get over 50mph. Be sure to look after the brake calipers as they can stick and wear unevenly

I have a 57 plate of this with repsol colours, I love it, pretty sure you change gear way to early, I change at like 8 or 9 RPS I get 75 mph no problem I have had 85 but struggled a lot, people need to come on a ride with me at some point :-)

Wow this brought back memories. I did 38,500miles on my cbr 125 '05. I never had a problem other than user inflicted, and only ever had 3 services done in all that, so their bloody reliable too lol. Personally I changed up at 8k revs because that's where the power started trailing off on mine. I once got 81.9mph on GPS going down a very long hill lol, bouncing off the rev limiter. I added heated grips, SatNav and chain oiler. Most miles I did in a day was 300, with climbing Snowdina, happy days

Too true about the headlamps, weird in my case though, low beam would not work at all, however full beam worked fine, I guess the filaments for the low beam went, anyway my whole bulb was browned and burnt, once one goes the other will too, just had them both replaced with halogen bulbs and they're great, good review on the bike! have had my black and silver "05 model for 8 months now, still runs great, I have a Gbmoto exhaust on mine and it sounds incredible :O

Love it go faster stripes add at least 5bhp!! Seriously though good review.. Good little tip about the high vis vest as it sounds a minor thing but I've been at the side of the road in the dark for an hour and cars just can't see you. Love the CBR but because I'm 33 I got the CBF instead have put a scorpion exhaust on it though..

I love two-strokes as they are so addictive, but in these hard times, the economy of a 125cc four-stroke wins me over as I've just bought a mint CG125 with just 8000 miles. There's hardly a mark on it and funny enough the bloke I bought it off only lived less than a mile away. I paid a bit more than I usually do as I only like cheap bikes, but the extra money was a small price to pay for the convenience. People are paying decent money for 125s and C90s at the moment as petrol is so expensive.

When I bought it, it was just under £2000, but this was from a dealer, I'm sure there are cheaper CBR's if you was to buy private, I just like the idea of buying from a dealer, because if anything was to go wrong, you know where to go and they'd sort it.

Hey, Although like you said the tyres are very small, In the 3 years I rode the CBR, I never really had any problems, They where Continental ContiCo Tyres which seem to be the norm on these bikes. But it has to be said as I was learning on the bike, I can't say I leant the bike to its max. I've seen it done with these so its possible :D

Ive got a Cbr125, i love it. The best 125 there is but im probably biased lol. Its not as slow as you make out, its does just short or 60 in 3rd gear if you take it to rev limiter. My Cbr reaches 70 no problem on flat but i weigh like 8 stone. Its faster than most average cars on the road, i.e Corsas or Polos, small cars like that. On my Cbr ive got a K'N type filter and its sounds brilliant, possibly a little loud but it helps the bike rev smoother upto the redline. I would defiantly advise one

These bikes aren't too shabby, I had a 55 plate one of these as a first bike and after that, I bought the 2012 variant, Repsol replica and now I am on an RSV4, and in comparison.... it is a shocking bike for going 'riding'. but as a commuter and basic vehicle to trot about on, not too bad.

considering that I have a cbr 125 in blue (the best colours for the bike) the bikes speed is great... it can get to 65 with no trouble at all (not 55...) 70 comes up eventually. the other thing with that "speed test" was 1 no revs to pull away and 2 he was changing at around 7k revs which is just before the real power on the bike. All 125's are like that however if you want it to go fast you have to treat it like the bike it is... changing gears at 9k revs.

Erm, My honest opinion is, it sounds like a 125 :) With the stock exhaust there isn't really anything to shout about, But running the bike with a after market exhaust like the one I fitted sounds great with the Baffle out. @dicey100 Hey Dicey, If it only happens in 6th I can't say I've experienced that, However, when I first started riding the bike, I found it would jump out of gears and straight back into neutral, at first I thought it was a problem with the bike, but it turned out I was not clicking it into gear hard enough. Strange that one, might be worth checking out some forums?

The CBR125 would be far better if it had wide tyres, especially the rear. Also, if the tail piece was squarer and had a more aggressive appearance and the bike wider, then it would appeal to me, even though I've been riding for 16 years now. I often mistake the CBR125 for a moped when I'm sat behind one in traffic because of the tail piece and skinny rear tyre. Never knew it had a rear compartment. Nice touch though.

@trgitw Hi there, The CBR 125 is nice little learner bike, very easy to ride, very light weight, and nimble. Once you get used to the bike. However, In my own opinion, After getting the bike, I feel it's just a little to small. Very slim, and I don't think it gets you ready for when or if you get a bigger bike? Other than that, nice bike. I really have enjoyed riding it :)
