Honda CB500X Rally Raid Level 3 Quality Test

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Honda CB500X Rally Raid Level 3 Quality Tests carried out by us. Not at all serious.. but check out the strength of the rally raid engine guard in one of the test!
The bike is a 2016 Honda CB500X with the Level 3 Rally Raid conversion kit. This bike will go most places. It is a great little bike for long distance runs on the motorway to get to the offroad trails, and offroad it can handle most things despite its 18 inch front wheel and relatively low clearance compared to more pure offroad bikes.
The advantages include the ability on the highway (as mentioned above), Honda reliability, and all in all a very capable mid weight adventure bike. Lots of fun to be had.

I recently got a cb500x level 2 rally raid (pretty much the same) and I am amazed how much I can ride it like a dirt bike. I can jump it, ride fast off road, do single track, mud holes etc. Its actually easy to pick up too (at least easier than my dr650 was).

Awesome...the conversion kit really transforms the bike right? Makes it really capable. Glad you love it.

The answer is not to ride it in Switzerland. You obviously understand the difficulties here.

I’d be curious to know how the CB500x actually compared in your view to the KTM. I don’t expect them to be equal, but would hope the CB held its own.

Hi John, The CB500X did well. I could go everywhere the KTM went, albeit with a bit more weight and a bit less power. The suspension really holds up well. The only issue I have had where the CB500X shows its street credentials is the plate where the footpegs are attached. It is not a strong piece of metal and prone to flex. In the video you can see I bent it when I dropped the bike and I kick it back into place. Yesterday while going over a small jump the peg bent on the landing under the weight of my foot. Probably pretty small issue overall. As you know the CB500X is not a KTM, but I am very happy and would pretty much take it anywhere. Fills that vacant spot on the market between 250cc and about 650cc AND much less servicing and maintenance requirements than a KTM which is a plus :)

It will... Frame is a bit weak for rough off roading. Also the front end will not take any hits... Likely to bend the steering bearings. A good bike for fire trails. Have fun!!! When do you leave??

@@KochADV My plan is to hit the road end of June. I have to do a lot of preparations and to set up the bike the right way but my first fight right now is the Covid. I got this thing on Christmas day and I am still fighting with it. When it's over I'll go back to my Alaska plan.

Hey... it is a good bike. As you can see you can do some good offroad on it, plus it is great on highway and dirt roads. It has allot more power to it than the Himalayan. I am actually selling my CB500X rally raid if you are interested in buying it. You can send me a private message. Cheers

This is exactly what I plan to get for my RTW trip, the stage 3 RR conversion (or whatever they call it now) Do you believe the CB500X can handle that? Obviously there'll be quite a lot of off roading when you get into Eastern Europe etc etc. Something about the bike just has me unable to look at another. 😂

Hi Keith, I think it could be a good choice. My trips here in Europe involve often long highway rides to get to the dirt. My view on your choice 1) Twin Cylinders for comfy highway driving and cruise 130kph-140kph no problem 2) relatively light compared to other adventure bikes. You drop it, you will be able to pick it up 3) Good off-road performance 4) With luggage racks room for plenty of gear 5) The RR gear is very well built. The only problem I have had is a bent footpeg plate which is a honda original part. 6) can get parts everywhere!! Wish you a good trip and if you are near Switzerland drop me a message, we can go for a ride. Cheers and thanks for watching

Not informative at all. This video is a joke. I have a cb500x, I don't treat her like that. I've owned and used bikes meant for that.
