He almost lays it on too strong but at the same time it hovered just above too much and stayed in as perfect the way he was talking to her!

The scene between Meldrick and Kay after this a great one too.

Man, I miss this show...Meldrick is da man. What hooked me onto this show was it wasn't always about the crime, it was more about how the crime impacted the characters, making them more human, IMHO. Great TV...stuff nowadays is too mechanical for my liking.

This show, In The Heat of The Night, Hunter, Barney Miller, Walker, Texas Ranger are the type of cop shows i actually like because the characters aren't dry, one note archtypes and the shows aren't just procedural murder shows, there's more focus on characters and relationships that only makes the crime aspect richer. They definitely don't make cop shows like those types anymore.

@@kendallrivers1119...Agreed. With shows such as Homicide & The Wire, I sometimes forgot about the cases/crimes that the detectives were working, because the dialogue was so engrossing at times. Both were well-written shows with an excellent ensemble cast.

Meldrick was as good, at sweet talking the ladies, as Pembleton was, at sweet talking confessions in the box. I highly recommend reading the true-life Baltimore “murder police” exposé _”Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets”_ which inspired this series; by the journalist/author who then went on to write _The Wire._

One of my favorite Meldrick moments, especially the thing with the desk chair.

Great example of how they used unconventional camera work. Was copied often by other shows. Lewis was a great character one of many.

These comments about Lewis are really surprising to me, I always looked at his role as the common brother who happened to be a "Murder-PO-LICE" with a distiguishable hat.

Hey, nobody's praising the gorgeous, sexy White girl. How about the last line: "I'll make a call," whispered.
