Frank: "Virtue isn't virtue unless it slams up against vice" No truer words have ever been spoken.

On yes. I have long been aware of my own dark side. It's how I've been able to keep it firmly in check.

I'm here, 1 hour after hearing of the passing of one of my fave actors, EVER! The definition of the "IDEAL DETECTIVE". I Love this scene, I LIVE by this scene. Rest in power, Braugher

The actors must have loved doing this scene. You don't often get dialogue this good.

This goes to Bayliss character and the overall conflict of the show.. Bayliss holds onto his code, and the others see it as weakness.. Or possibly not being up to the job.. But the truth is they dislike him because he reminds them of what they’ve lost.. Or gave away, to be more precise.. It reminds them of why they’re so good at their job and so bad everywhere else in their lives..

One of the best moments of the series & a pivotal moment for Bayliss's character arc. Thanks for posting!

I can't believe as old as this clip is that it has as few views or comments as it does. Love this show.

@Leo Peridot yea and then seeing the sorry state of affairs after the end of the series is almost too much to bare (the movie). Still, it woulda been cool to see bolander show up at least once on fuckin svu. They went through all the trouble of importing munch and we heard barely a peep about Baltimore during ALL. THOSE. EPISODES. #fuckdickwolf

@@StarlightEater not only that but mid way through Munch became ancillary. He was hardly given anything to do as the series progressed. They really should've brought some Homicide characters to join up with the SVU squad on a case. Bolander, Lewis, Pembleton, Kellerman, Howard etc that could've been great.

Man I'm the only fool watching this clip. Frank explodes with wisdom - sadly I've learned this lesson already. Secor's expression is brilliant at the end of this clip - you can see so clearly his taking this in and learning. I wish the clip ran a touch longer...

Watching this today, I hope that people don't judge Bayliss too harshly. At this time in my life I'm pretty tolerant of almost everything consenting adults do, but when I watched this episode for the first time in the '90s I felt a lot like Bayliss and thought that one human being getting off on hurting or humiliating another--even if the person wanted to be treated that way--was really disturbing.

The first part of Frank's rant seemed a tad overstated. The last part was BRILLIANT!
