Heard this song just before I left for the Army in early September 2001, 5 days later 9/11 happened and over 20 years later I am still serving after 5 combat deployments and each time I hear this song it reminds me of the grace God has shown me in helping me return home safely each time. Love this beautiful version of this amazing song. The words hold meaning to me

I asked my buddies in high school if they had heard this song. Some replied, “no”. So I showed them this video. Now, sometimes in orchestra class, I’ll overhear them listening to it on their earbuds. Such a great version of such a great song.

November 1969 late at night in the belly of a jet plane crossing the Pacific Ocean approaching the coast of the United States, I was finally coming home after serving two years in the 198th. Infantry in Viet Nam. Even today I'm so humbled and grateful to have lived and came home

Amen!!! It reminds me of the Square and compass. We stay grounded with the square, and explore with the compass. I love our father and mother. So grateful they allowed us to go out to this world and have these experiences. Their plan is truly a plan of happiness and joy.

I was fortunate to travel with the Tab Choir for 13 years. I have heard them do this song live so many times but it is just so glorious. Darin, the one playing the solo at the beginning and throughout the song made the instrument that he is playing. What an amazingly talented group of people and musicians. Love the orchestra and most importantly the ORGAN! King of instruments.

David! I hope that you were able to be a part of Touched by an Angel in the “Winter Carol” episode of season 8. I thought when the choir came out after Roma Downey made her announcement, it was the neatest experience on the show! My college professor Maureen Hearns was also in the choir and also Claudia Bigler my choir teacher.

This song was my mother's favorite . We played it at her funeral. She was so anxious and longed to go home.

This song makes me cry every time I hear it. It's just so incredibly beautiful. I think about it every time I remember how my little boy was on the brink of death. We were planning for his funeral when a blessing miraculously restored his life. That was 3 years ago, and he is still with us, healthy and strong. Thank you for producing this beautiful song

I too love this Choir and the variety of beautiful songs that are sung. Music calms my soul, it centers me. I firmly believe that God, our Heavenly Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost choose music as a way of teaching us of Them. Music reminds me that each person on the Earth is loved and respected by this Godhead. Music stills my soul, it makes my heart rejoice, it comforts me. It is always there

This song was playing as my sweet step mom breathed out her last breath. We hadn't realized it was Homeward Bound until the youtubebot paused the song to ask if we were still listening.

I am a member of the church of Jesus Christ for many years, I am so grateful to the heavenly father for showing me his true church, my family is not a member, I am a single member, it is very difficult, but with God I can do all things.

Bill Benson - I was adopted at 5 years old to help work a farm in Nebraska. The animals quickly became my closest friends. I was amazed at the results of plowing and preparing the dark black soil prior to planting yellow kernels of corn. As days past and the kernels lay in the ground, It wasn't long before I realized there was a God. I was amazed as the Lord converted the rolling hills of our farm, into a massive carpet of green. Millions of tiny plants broke through the soil, absorbing moisture and engulfing the sun's warmth. It was a wonderful childhood growing up with my adopted sister and wonderful loving parents. Each time I hear "Coming Home", my memories are always flooded with God's love for me and all His people. It will be part of my funeral service.

This song reminds me so much of my mission. I want to go back. It was the hardest most difficult experience in my life and I would go back in a heartbeat. The church is true I witness that with my entire soul. I love this gospel.

My Jewish Dad listened to The Tabernacle Choir on Sunday: The Music and the Spoken Word ❤

What beautiful hymn, it so uplifting. It helped while been in the hospital the last couple days and down about it. Thank you choir and orchestra and all you made this possible to listen.

Let us accept the gift of salvation that Christ has given us that no works can earn or contribute .

First time i heard this song was when the Tabernacle Choir sang at the Lloyd Noble Center. It has become one of my favorites, spiritual experience for sure. The lyrics really match our journey through this life, using our time, talents and resources along with accepting the Saviors beautiful gift of his Atoning sacrifice and helping him complete his mission here.

Saw them in Temple Square in SLC in rehearsal many years ago,wow what a blessing of the Lord to me to be able to see and hear a group of Gods people.

My nephew sang an amazing and beautiful rendition of the song at my father's memorial today.♥️ I miss you already, Dad.

This hymn helped me through my last deployment. The power of the spirit present in this hymn eased the pain of separation from my family and helped me look forward to coming home. Additionally, it helped me to have a more eternal prospective of life on earth. Suffering is momentary, if we endure it well we can live with him and our families forever.

Yesterday we visited the grave of two of my dead relatives, and I played this in my head. At the end I looked up the sky and felt peace. This song is so uplifting. ❤

I can not express how thankful I am to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints(Mormon). I have suffered from major anxiety and depression, and I have never felt the peace the Savior gives me in this church anywhere else. I know that Christ lives. This song was sung a cappella so beautifully by an all boys choir at my son's high school graduation from an all boys school. Absolutely stunning.

My ex stepmother had a copy of this cd. I fell in love with the song and now 30yrs later roughly i would like it sang at my funeral some day.

I was widowed very young, left with four children to raise on my own but through it all, I thought of my husband's journey home, it was probably with joy, with relief, and, with some wistfulness too for what he had to leave behind. This marvelous song expresses so perfectly what I felt. The choir sung my heart's words.

My father has always loved good music and that particularly includes the MTC and Orchestra At Temple Square. My father is 100 years old, and is starting to fail physically this month now. I bought him this album to focus his 'going home' to Paradise where he will meet again with his dear wife (my mother) and many others he loved in this lifetime.

Beautiful music from the Church of Jesus Christ; It reminds me of when I met the Church with my parents and siblings, it reminds me of my mother who is no longer physically with me, but her Spirit always accompanies me along with her legacy of faith, testimony, service and love.

I remember standing there looking back at my house and the memorys of my mum and dad and the rest of family how I miss them. But there will come a day when I will be home again in heaven how I long for that day to come but I can wait..

Here from having nightmares after my dear aunt died from cancer. Such a dear and good woman. Only 39. She loved me and my siblings like we were hers. Always encouraged me and uplifted me. I will request this be played at her funeral. It’s in 12 days

I think of my Father and Mother who have passed away and long to see them again. Music is my soul and this beautiful piece helps me to see into eternity.

I recently lost my much loved mother, Florrie Engalee, she was 93 years old and loved life so much, she fought passing so hard. Since her passing I find it hard to go thru one day without crying, I miss her daily calls, her voice on the phone, I miss visiting her 2x a month to clean and shop for her. Now she has been amputated from my life. Stumbled upon this song, it touches my sad heart. Thru grief I will arise again, and get thru one day without sadness.

How can anybody down vote something which is nothing short of heavenly, beautiful and soul filling.

I sit here almost bawling my eyes out as I listen to this masterpiece of musical fusion. There is not a time that I am not brought to tears when listening to this most beautiful piece, so masterfully rendered by MTC. It makes me think of the life I have and had, and all those people that made it a beautiful experience. So pure and deep in its spiritual essence, and brings me to a place of complete awareness of what this life on earth is really all about. Thank you for the ability to bring us to that very important place of deep reflection. May God always bless MTC, and I look forward to being there to hear you all live.

This song...just so sweet and tender. My husband and both parents passed away in a 7 month stretch. Although I miss them so much, I have my darling grandson here. Someday, I'll return to them somehow and we'll be together again. My grandson saved me. He was born a year after my mother, the last of the 3, passed away. He's 10 1/2 now and a really wonderful boy.

I listened to this when my son was deployed in the Iraq war. It opened the floodgates of pent up emotion that I had so long suppressed and the tears finally flowed freely. Local choir sang this beautiful song on Saturday as a tribute to our 99 year old father as part of his funeral service. I don't know how Dad felt about the rest of the program...but I am absolutely certain he loved the choir singing this remarkable song. It feels like heaven is just around the corner when I listen to this extraordinary choir sing this prayer.

"This is the Christ" is another amazing one- if you haven't heard it before.

A friend in my singles ward taught me this song one day after church, quite some years before the choir recorded it. I use it in my music thanatology practice. I am employed by hospices to play harp and sing at the bedside of the dying, and this has become one of my favorite songs to sing at the bedside of my patients. It is the perfect message and the melody is exquisite. I was so happy to hear the choir had recorded it. Saying goodbye is so difficult, and this song seems to me the perfect message at the bedside. This arrangement by Bro. Wilberg is so beautiful and well done. The song itself to me is a jewel, a gem and wonderful at the bedside. Thank you Marta Keen.

Opening one's heart to the Lord Jesus as one lies upon the deathbed is of central, urgent importance. I would hope that, along with this beautiful music you share, you would also address the spiritual needs of the dying. Many who lie upon the deathbed do not know the Saviour Jesus Christ; they have shut Him out for the duration of their lives. They are not prepared for death. They are in fear. To ask them to consider a Saviour who will save them from their sins, would be most expedient. The dying ought to be asked to consider their sins throughout life, and told that judgement awaits them if they are not willing to admit their sins. There is no greater comfort at death, than to know, as the great Apostle wrote," There is therefore now, no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit." Romans 8:1. It is the greatest assurance ever written for mankind, and this verse is considered the consummation of both Old and New Testaments. i hope you will consider this.

I went on a two week music tour around Europe with a group of people from my school. We were invited to participate in an international music festival in Vienna with hundreds of other schools across the world. Not only that, but we were able to sing and play music at churches and various locations around Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic. It was the most amazing two weeks of my life. Being able to share feelings with people who didn't speak a word of english, on the other side of the world through the power of music was wonderful. We sang this song throughout the 2 weeks, and we performed this at our final concert in a small church just outside of Vienna. By the end of this song we were all crying, and even though the people there didn't know why we were crying while singing, they cried too. Afterwards we had so many people, both young and old, come up and tell us as best they could that they felt our emotions through our performance. It was an experience I'll never forget to this day, and I would give anything to be able to experience it again.

for years I've been going through depression. it felt like I had no hope, no one to talk to, it felt like I was alone. I've tried committing suicide, but as much times as I wanted to I know god gave me this life because he knew I can handle it. the times I almost did he held my hand through it all and told me it was going to be alright. if anyone is going through depression please just know he is always there for you even though your darkest times. listen, god will always be there for you.

Hats off to the wonderful and talented gentleman playing the recorder! This song was sung by Ralph Mecham's descendants at his funeral in Washington DC a number of years ago. It was very touching. Well done, Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square!

The blending of harmonies and how well the orchestra goes together is just phenomenal. I sang this song in choir when I was in school and it will have always a special meaning in my heart. Thank you for your music and voices!

But hey my brother, isn't technology wonderful we have 'repeat'? 😇🎶🎶And when I love a song so much somehow there exists on the internet an upload that will play that song on repeat for hours or I make one😇 Have a happy Tuesday....

I came here seeking the spirit in order to prepare for a blessing I am going to give to my grandfather who is unfortunately in the intensive care unit. Please pray for him brothers and sisters! Our God is one of miracles. For is not this life alone a miracle?

I have returned home to live and produce you tube releases about being a Mormon. I left in 1986 and held onto the iron rod through many challenges that has taken me closer to the tree of the love of God. Listening to Church music daily joins my birth home to the love of God

This remind me when my grandfather died and remind that we have limited time

I'm going through the darkest and sadest period of my life. This song always gives me hope that one day I will and can go back to Him and I've agreed in pre-mortal life to come as I've have and to experience this life. This song gives me strength that I need to go on.

He knows your heart and what you're going through .........Some things in life are to make us strong ....... we need sad times and difficult times in our life to appreciate the truly happy times in life and we need to know that these hard times are only for a season .......... One thing I know is that during hard times, try and find someone that is suffering around you and lift their spirits up by doing something good and kind.........I promise you that it will come back to you many fold if you do.......... He knows your heart and the good things you do for others, you also do those things to Him.

I went through the darkest part of my life as well and this song helped bring me through it. I'm telling you....not too long after I found myself crying my eyes out to this song day after day was I granted the freedom and relief I so longed for. The light did come and I was set free. It can happen.

My son sang this in choir. I loved it.

Whenever I'm homesick... This music brings me back to my Father in Heaven...

I first sang this my senior year of high school for an honor choir I was apart of and then later for my graduation. This song has so much meaning to me.

I'm Playing this in my band with the choir and orchestra for the 6th graders and then that night for the parents. I bet you anything there will be parents who will start crying

In these times of uncertainty, it is so calming to listen to this kind of music.

I haven't heard or sung this song in 2 years... I teared then and I'm tearing now.

I'm a freshman in college, and though I'm away from home this some how makes a extended hand reaching from my mom to myself. I'm crying and I don't know why but one thing it iterates is that I'm gone for just moment and will return in time.

Hello, Jody. I have from time to time found myself crying also while listening to beautiful music. There is something wonderful and yet something sad also that we feel. I think it is a sort of homesickness for, perhaps, something we once knew or sense that awaits us. Your soul senses something beyond the mundane. Be thankful for that. Best wishes for success in your college endeavors.

I kinda wish there were more verses. This is such a great piece of music.

Maybe it's supposed to leave you hungry for beauty. So you go create it.

A peaceful transition for all of us. From toil and trouble, from hurt and pain -- we will leave those things behind and we will awaken in a new place. May I add to that sentiment my heartfelt gratitude to Mack Wilburg, who uses his God-given intelligence and musical talent to bring comfort and joy to a world that needs it.

I thought of how I am now the 1st Councillor to the BP and after listening to this song again I found that my calling is more important than I ever imagined to the lives of those I guide. I cried as I promised my Lord I would do Him proud as I repented of my lack of understanding that I should travail in this life to give Him praise. Even unto the ends of the earth as I take my final breath I will know that as long as I held His calling high and remembered to keep His commandments and rebuke all sinful natures from my heart I will see Him again. My Lord and my God I await the day of Your call unto me as I hear this choir sing the AHHHH I imagine entering into the gates of heaven. Oh, what a day it will be when I can finally rest from journey here.

Jesus beautifies our souls and it is through this song that we can beautify Him. I cannot help my eyes from shedding tears when I hear this song. May Our God in Heaven be Praised Forever in Jesus' name, Amen:)

Cuando siento que estoy perdido en las preocupaciones rutinarias, escuchar esto incluso por casualidad me brinda un sentido de perspectiva y paz.

Every single time that i hear that song, i have the purest feeling that i can feel in that day. I always remember how much Our Heavenly Father loves us deeply. I always remember about the members of my family that i have on my tree and was made the temple work for them. I always remember of my dear and sweet grandma that has passed away seven years ago. I always remember how i want to experience the Heaven, living with my Savior, my wife and my family. I really love the Spirit that i feel when i'm listening it.

There is a profound irony here: "...set me free to find my calling, and i'll return to you somehow.." this lyric is not about going home. despite the universally understood longing in every heart, (for home when we are NOT there), we all must leave it to find our 'calling'. For many, that is simply reporting for work each day. For many others, it is simply not so (simple). Their calling may be half-a-world away, in places where no person has a home or anything like it.-which is why they go.
