About 12 weeks in to Bryan's course now. Partly coming to it from the wisdom he imparted on Homeskoolin - figuring even though I'm not a bluegrass diehard I could badly use the deep stuff Bryan can teach. It's been way more than I could have expected. The amount of material, the way it progresses, and the quality of it is just astonishing. Highly, highly recommended.

Where you already a decent player to start? I've thought about trying Bryan's course, I already did Guthries, but I didn't get much out of it

@@BobbyCulpepper.srv3fenderI'd say I was an intermediate player. Bryan's course splits into Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, Improv. I'm into the Intermediate stuff now but spent a fair bit of time in Basic - there's a lot of important stuff there and my right-hand flatpicking was pretty non-existent. I did the 30-day intro just to make sure I'd like it - I get paid in Australian pesos so everything US$ costs - then went to 1 year.

You are the best channel that ever happened to music
I don’t comment often and I imagine there a lot of guys like me who feel this way. These videos are amazing and deeply insightful. Thank you Tom
This is why we watch this channel. You can't get this kind of insight anywhere else.
"I got invited to leave on a session..." made me laugh pretty hard. Good stuff. I could listen to you guys talk for hours.
It's a privilege to be a fly on the wall while you two talk: masters both. Respect, homage, and thanks!
Wow another gem. So much great stuff. Thanks again for another loving hang. You guys inspire me.
I had the pleasure of meeting Bryan a few weeks back in Nashville - just a chance meeting at a show he and I both attended. As expected, he was very nice, and graciously spent a few minutes chatting with me. When I told him how much I enjoyed the Homeskoolin' episodes that featured you guys at work, he smiled and said "Buk is a Good Dude and an amazing talent". Hard to argue with that. I looked at signing up for Bryan's lessons, but just haven't pulled the trigger. This sealed the deal. Thanks again.
Each of your and Bryan's personalities feels like the personification of electric and acoustic guitars. Great separately but even better together.
"Good timing is not necessarily good groove" thanks for that. It's good to hear someone else say it.
Love the Supertramp at the end of the video!! 💚🎸
What a nice treat , thank you tom !!!
Holy crap. That nugget about eq with fader down is fantastic. I just want to thank you for everything you’ve giving us. I truly cherish it.
It would have been so cool to see Bryan Sutton grab the Gretsch and work his fleet-fingered magic.
One of the most important music lesson videos anywhere, thanks so much Tom

Smiled all the way through this one.
Love the Bryan and Larry show !
You and Bryan obviously have a fantastic personal connection. Each of you master artists in your own right. Put together, wow, the musical magic you two conjure up. Thanks for sharing your friends with us Uncle Larry.
Tom, you did it again! An exceptional episode with truely deep insights and barely naked honesty about the magic of creating music for the music´s sake! The three great T´s: Time, Touch, Tone plus putting the ego far way behind the song! Thank you so much for that! Cheers form Munich! Christian
Larry and Bryan, thanks for sharing. Love your work gents. Luv the’tramp. Cheers !🍻
Thanks guys - great info and teaching the next generation all of the tricks. + the conversation and encouragement is wonderful. Keep it rolling Uncle Larry!

Two smart, thoughtful dudes right there. Thanks gents!
Great chat guys, I enjoyed it thanks, a really like it when you fellas get under the skin of it. It's very interesting listening to the wheels go round, this is where the great tips and information comes from. 👍👍👍🥃Respect to you fellas.
This is great Little Tommy, thanks for sharing. I have been renewing Bryan's course for years but haven't dedicated myself to it, not sure why because he is my absolute favorite current bluegrass player, this is inspiring!
Thank you, Gents, for sharing this discussion and your wisdom.
It’s so cool how you often give me the right advice at the right time. I’m working on a recording project right now and this was super helpful. ✌️❤️🎶
Can you imagine... These two dudes, on their level, shooting the sh!t. What a great video!
Feel is HUGE in a bluegrass band. #1. Knowing when to lay out and when to come back in.
That was great stuff. Thanks for sharing.
On the hunt. Sick riff.
My two favorite guitar players.
The analogy of driving a car and playing guitar is just great. It perfectly explains the situation when you control what you play, but also listen to other musicians and letting the music and instrument drive you. That balance is hard to achieve to be perfect, but when you do it's just a feeling that's hard to describe. Thanks a lot for this. :)
Oh man … they are gonna love this at artist works … I did about 3 years over there in Bryan’s class mostly because he’s my flat picking hero and I just wanted to have some kind of access to his wisdom and talent. He’s a natural teacher and just so damn good. I learned a lot but I was just so tense all the time I couldn’t hang any longer. It is so much fun to see you two guys talking and teaching. Thanks … this was a real treat.
YESSSS!!! w What a great episode. Tom, I can't remember which episode it was, but way back you said "if you can't hear your guitar, IT'S THE WRONG SOUND!" I think about that every day, recording or playing live. One of the best pieces of wisdom you've shared. Thanks, Larry
Ahhh Supertramp. I really enjoy Rodger's guitar playing, and my gosh, what great songs. Bloody well right also contains the greatest wurlitzer intro ever, imo.
You played music in a past life that's how it was so easy for you and I didn't that's why it's taken me literally 30 years. ; ) Love ya Unc.
damnnn! Uncle Larry, that was a f'n sweet episode. Advanced musicians sharing this level of invaluable intellectual property is a pretty amazing thang, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I really enjoyed this conversation! This is "masterclass" kind of learning! Thank you gentlemen! Greetings from Belgium
So cool to hear discussions like this.
Thanks y'all-very informative! The concept of "what's the least amount of notes I can play on this" is something I'm trying to learn. It's fascinating to me that even when the skill levels increase, making music still involves trial and error and achieving undefinable moments where everything is "right".
Awesome! I said it before, I'll say it again: Bryan is my favourite guest on the Homeskoolin' show. I'm glad to hear he's doing his own videos. Pretty please, if the opportunity ever comes up, I would so love to hear you two jam together. That would be lightning in a bottle!
What a fantastic interview. Just when I think I need to practice more i’m reminded to be better at listening. It’s not always easy to remember that constant sound is just noise. Music is created be adding space to noise.
On the hunt, love it 👍
This was so insightful, thank you!!
From opening with “The Hunter” to Bluegrass deluxe with a couple of NEO cats. Can only happen here! Awesome piece with Bryan, thanks Tommy
I’m currently riding herd on three classes of production and “ear training” (basically teaching them how to hear the EQ spectrum). LARGE parts of this conversation will be foisted on to my young padwans. THANK you “Doctors”. This is VERY important data to pass along. (Also reminds me Jimmy Miller was a GENIUS!) As always, you’re a gift Larry!
Just signed up with Bryan at Artist works!!! Thanks for reminding me!!
Uncle Larry I love what you said about hearing the guitar in the mix without raising the volume, but using EQ. Thar concept immediately becomes clear when you start recording. I love finding that space too. It's challenging and also you find out alot about your playing. Great video...😎🎸
G'day uncle Larry. Cheers for your continued homeskoolin' from oz 🍻

Absolutely. These gentlemen are preserving an art form right in front of us.
What an insightful conversation Bryan and Tom. The nuance of finding your place in the music is so profound.👌 The fewest notes possible to get the point across is always my goal. Many musicians just don't get it, they seem to need the attention or something, insensitive and certainly immature. Great watch.🤙
Geezus Larry that was Bryan said that about yer playing!! Whaaaat?!! ❤️😎
This is a great educational video ! Cheers Larry bird .
Love that song! Not the most radio played Skynyrd but one of my favorites. I'm just like you Baby😅
Bryan is a gem. Thanks Buk, would've missed him if it wasn't for you.
I so love Brian and only because you turned me on to him! Gone down a deep rabbit hole of all things blue grass because of that. This back and forth interview is so vitally important about the nuances of working in an ensemble. My good buddy JayDee Maness and I have discussed this together for years about trying to be small in terms of the sonic canvas we are painting.. Thanks a bazzillon
Wow! Great advice, you guys are a world of knowledge. I wish all young players could hear your advice.
