Really good review ! I would've really liked to see the Sonos one compete here also. It can have Alexa, Google Assistant, or Sonos's own assistant. Definitely would slot in to the category of high end smart speakers.

Yeah I got the Echo studio as well. Absolutely insane speaker. Incredible sound. Especially when it's high fidelity music. I don't know how it kicks out so much bass. But it does. I want to get a echo sub for it
Love your videos. As always, you go into such comprehensive detail.
Hi Amazing review as always. Would be awesome to have a comparison against the sonos 1 and 5 with the new Homepod . Your reviews would bring so much clarity! Cheers
Echo has bass but it gets distorted at high volumes at least that’s what I found. I had the same issue with two separate echo devices. I had to turn down the bass on certain tracks and movies due to this, the HomePod had no such problems.

Great job with your reviews. These Max Tech videos greatly help with my purchase decisions.
I just set up my 2 new HomePods second gen as a stereo pair, and they sound fantastic.
will the Apple TV4K have the ability to modify sound from a pair of Home Pod 2s. Like boost treble or midrange?
That answered questions I didn’t know I had! Also, thank you for reminding me about Nine Lashes. I had forgotten about them.
On my MacBook Pro even with airpoods , its hard to really tell a difference other than volume differences. I will go by your real world observations. Frequency response graphs are useful but can't really predict what subjective listening experiences will be.
@MaxTechOfficial
Жыл бұрын
Yes. Sometimes frequency response charts can show a nice flat sound signature but in real life the quality of the sound just isn't there. I think I'm going to buy a better microphone and set up a small corner of a room that will do a better job at recording the differences. I know going through youtube and playing through someone's speakers won't show all the differences so I'll still give my commentary, but I want to make it better.

Thank you very much for the comparison and analysis. After comparing several smart speakers with various assistants on board, I chose Harman Kardon Allure for myself. Design + sound quality + use as a bluetooth speaker + smart home management + support for most streaming services. Alexa assistant helps me every day. I like Apple products, as long as they don't ban their products from being bundled with services other than their own.

I would love to see a comparison between the Homepod 2 and the Studio WITH the sub. they both come in at $300, so it would give a great "which one should have my $300" video. I keep wanting the Homepod, but a have so many Echo Dots as it is, the draw of staying in the same smart-speaker world is strong.
A lot of good information throughout

I have a Google Home Max, HomePod 2018 pair, and other Nest speakers (from Nest Hub Max display along with the nest you use in your comparison). The HomePods (though not a bit fan of Siri) blow away the others in regard to sound quality. Not a fan of Amazon speakers so much so typically stay away from them. The main reason I have the nest speakers is because of the Google voice assistant. Plus I have Nest cameras and love the displays.

Yeah I have many smart speakers and the Homepod blows them all away, the actual sound quality and imaging are brilliant. I use Apple music so that's not a problem. Siri however, is shocking.
Homepod: „As far as the smart assistant smartness it‘s the most dumb aswell“ - spoken from my heart. And saw you grinning. you had to control yourself not to laugh at that sentence.😂
Why didn't you use 2 nest audios as an audio pair like you did with the home pod mini review since the mini and the nest audio are about the same price and you can get 3 of them for the price of 1 homepod 2nd gen? I'd love to see that comparison.
@MaxTechOfficial
Жыл бұрын
Honestly, I didn't expect it to sound that much worst than the others. If I would have known I would have gotten 2 but with that, based on other stereo pairs I've tested it wouldn't make it sound much better, other than being louder overall and having stereo separation. I still won't have very much low end. The HomePod Mini's that use a single speaker have more bass and better sound quality than the Nest which has a tweeter and a woofer. Of course, the Nest gets louder but the sound quality gets even worst when you turn it up past the volume of the Mini. (In the sound quality comparisons I had all of them turned down to the level of the Nest where it sounds its best). I Wish they still made the Google Home Max, I recommended that to a few friends that wanted loud speakers that sounded good. It was even louder than the Echo Studio.

Nice review but hard to tell a difference listening on headphones. I already have an Echo Studio and it looks like I will be sticking with it. I like good sound but being limited only to airplay kills the homepod for me. I hate airplay with the devices I've already got so know I don't want another one. Shame. I'd miss the convience of Spotify connect as well. For serious listening I have Tidal on my hifi system and use that rather than airplay from Apple music.
Would love to buy 2 homepods but I want them to be compatible for my windows PC sound besides just iTunes

Echo Studio can take a wireless sub as well. Which makes my floor vibrate! It's a more flexible device, cheaper and has a smart assistant, unlike the HomePod 2 which has a dumb one. No contest, really. Would be good to get a comparison of a stereo pair.

This channel is the best...
O next audio tem equalizaçao para o áudio ficar mais grave.
Actually with the newest iOS, you can keep playing music and for example have a call at the same time
The HomePod has a cleaner distribution of sound but the limit of air play kills it as a choice.
Holy sheet| The Echo is really massive! I thought it was half its size in height and width! Consumer Reports tested in sound quality: Homepod 2= 4/5 Echo Studio= 4/5 Nest= 3/5
disable audio normalization on spotify on the iphone and you’ll see the homepod goes much louder than what youve tested. spotify connect on the echo does not use normalization so it is not fair in terms of volume if you tested the homepod with spotify’s normalization that reduces loudness a lot
@victoregea5311
Жыл бұрын
i’d like to note also that the homepod does not have spotify integration because spotify does not want to, apple allows third party services since 2020 but spotify does not want to implement it. also airplay 2 has been out since 2018 and spotify still refuses to update their app from airplay 1 to airplay 2, and thats why it has a 2-second delay with homepods and other airplay 2 speakers/tvs and also dropouts sometimes
There is a BUG in the Dolby Atmos software of HomePod 2 or iOS 16.3. For example, streaming from iPhone the song "The Girls of Ipanema" of Stan Getz/Gilberto, Dolby Atmos version, the voice of Astrud Gilberto is played on the right channel (Dolby Atmos enabled). Streaming the same song from Apple TV 4K (1st gen) the voice of Astrud Gilberto is played on the left channel.
i love your videos
I’ve heard a few home theater KZreadrs say that 2 HomePods with spacial audio makes a really good surround sound system. Even saying they think it’s a better experience than soundbars or surround sound systems that cost as much or a little more than two HomePods.
Homepod is better in SQ but have you heard about Vifa Helsinki or Vifa Oslo? Those speakers are way ahead in terms of Soundquality in such a small form factor.
Cool

Sonos has speakers for all use cases - even more if you add IKEA Symphonisk. No other brand comes close to the balance of sound quality, portfolio flexibility and support for streaming services & voice assistants. Homepod Soundbar? Amazon Echo for wall & ceiling mount? Google Nest for amping up 2 classic speakers? Nope! Unfortunately my Sonos speakers are „breeding“ like rabbits. If you‘re not careful and put 2 in the right place, you wake up one day and find 10 of them across the property.

So hear’s my opinion: I have immense respect for the HomePod as a music-first device. I have 2 first Gen homepods in my living room paired to my Apple TV. I don’t want a smart speaker. I don’t need a smart speaker. The HomePod to me has always been a music listening device first, that happens to have smart speaker functionality. The HomePod mini is a smart speaker, that happens to sound decent. But my favorite thing about the HomePod, besides it’s sound quality, is that there is NO EQ! My old roommate and I built our own custom DML speakers, and they sounded amazing, but I’d come home some days and he’d be listing to these things at max volume but also had turned the treble up so high that it was painful to listen to! So he always complained when I would dial the treble back down. ANYWAY the HomePods are the first speakers I’ve ever listened to (AirPods Pro and Max’s also) that sound EXACTLY they way I want them to sound out of the box for every type of music I listen to. I’ve listened to the echo studio, it still comes across to me as a smart speaker first, music device second. Even in this video it sounds way muddier to me compared to the HomePod. I have yet to find a speaker(s) that can replace a stereo pair of HomePods in overall sound quality, the sound signature (this is more subjective, or personal), and soundstage.
As a HomeKit hub is Apple at least stressing security/privacy aspect? I don’t know what they’re trying to sell here other than a remodeled stripped down HomePod 1

AppleTV 4k is sufficient for a HomeKit hub.
Used to have a pair of Echo Studios. Just bought a pair of HomePod 2's. My memory is that the Studios sounded better. I think the HomePod is hollow sounding. Vocals sound bad. Where are the mids? Might return them.

No one has yet addressed the issue of the homepods, both original and mini, cutting out, especially when watching KZread video. Does Ver. 2 also do this? Maybe this is why Apple went to an older WIFI/Bluetooth version?
