Homemaker to Handyman *Replacing a manufactured home door - Episode 45

Replacing a door can be a daunting task for anyone. This door finally came out as soon as I found all of the hidden screws! It sure feels good to have a fully functional and secure door.

@@chrissy1310 It went extremely well. The video got me back on track when I would've given up. Seriously this lady hits on each place i needed advice, or thought theres something I did wrong turns out was difficult for ANYONE with no experience. Watch the vid, while you are doing it. All teaching is a 3 step process ... Step 1 Show how its done... In our case watch the whole vid ...a few times if necessary Step 2 do it together,...in our case watch vid while doing it, Step 3 you do it on your own...towards the end and the next one I do probably wont need the vid.

Good job! I have the same task coming. Door probably won't arrive until January, so it will be frozen finger time when it comes to doing the replacement. I was surprise to see you carry the door yourself. I'll be getting a 38"x78" door. I might be wrong but I was thinking I saw a weight of about 200 pounds? I was going to get a door with glass in it, but being a trailer door, I can imaging the difficulty in getting new glass if it gets broken. Probably have to purchase a whole new door if that happens.

It was heavy, but not 200 pound heavy. I would say around 100. I went with as much glass as possible because I love a bright house and a door can let in a lot of natural light. Good luck on your project!

I found them at my local manufactured home store. They, unfortunately, were a bit more pricy than something at home depot, but I had no choice. The home depot doors did not come in the right size. This door cost about $450(home depot doors around $375),so it didn't break the bank 😏.

Honestly, it was my first time doing it, and there weren't any other videos for a manufactured home door. I wouldn't do it differently though. I wanted to make sure that the frame and door stayed aligned. If I took out the door while I was putting up the frame, I fear it may have warped and I would have a bigger mess to deal with once the frame was stuck to the wall. Yes, the for was heavy, but I could manage it by myself 😏.
