    WoodRodent Thanks, There are great commercial available ones for compressed air, as I think the fitting for the swivel would have to be pretty tight not to leak from the forces of the compressed air. Thanks for commenting and for watching

    I bought a pretty nice reel for my compressor hose at Harbor freight. So far it's working great and the pivoting union doesn't leak. Regarding this vacuum hose reel, it would be nice to rig up a crank handle on one side. My Harbor freight compressor hose reel has the crank and it makes it really nice.

    Fred Flintstone Hi Fred. I did not mean that commercial ones would be in danger of leaking, only a DIY version, considering the pressure it is under, but of course with some metalwork it would be possible. I did some fiddeling and may do a video on a motorized version, but its really fast to reel it in, so we´ll have to se what happens.

    Bellevue Woodshop Hello Bellevue. Understood. My comment about the union not leaking on the inexpensive Harbor freight unit was meant mostly as a recommendation. The rotary union looks a lot like the rotary units used for fittings on compressed air tools and auto oilers. The rotary union on the HB unit looks something like this: www.ebay.com/itm/FIT-COMPRESSION-ELBOW-04A-Swivel-use-on-air-engine-1-4-Tube-to-1-8-NPT-Male-/281391973625?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item418444c4f9&vxp=mtr

    Tom Howbridge Thanks Tom. i did fiddle with the idea of motorizing it, but then again I would have to make the controls easily available, but we´ll see what happens. It is very fast to unroll it and roll it back. But then again, automated stuff is awsome. I actually found the hose in the dumpster. its for a central vacuum hose.

  • @bellevuesnekkeri

    @bellevuesnekkeri

    9 жыл бұрын

    Mike Kapotsy Thank you Mike. The hole cutter is an adjustable commercial cutter. The cutterblade is adjustable and there are 2 in the set, so it can cut sizes from aprox 22mm up to 75mm. the auger at the end thou, makes it useless unless you predrill for it. The threads are way to aggressive for the size of the cutter, and it stalls any drill I have tried, or nearly breaks you wrist. It is bought here locally at a store chain much like Harbor Freight in the US

    I purchased it at a local hardware store like HF here in Norway, it is adjustable, but has an auger in the centerr, and if you do not predrill you are in for a supprise!!!, the pitch is waaaay to large for the cutter to be able to remove the material. You might be able to find it on ebay though

  • @bellevuesnekkeri

    @bellevuesnekkeri

    8 жыл бұрын

    +TT OKC Thanks. If you check out at 1:16 you will see the vacuum hose has a bevel/taper that makes a sort of a seal with very little friction. When the hose is snapped in place and locked with the 2 spring loaded plastic clips on the hose 1:27 it seats the connector on the hose inside the pipe. the pipe of course has to be fixed to not move when the fitting is pressed against it at 2:32. Hope this makes sense:). Thanks for watching

    Bjørnar Magnussen Begynte å bygge inn en retract fjær laget av bandjern, litt likt slikt som på en startfjær på en påhengsmotor startsnor. Var nok for lite carbon i det stålet, og det mistet mere å mere kraft for hver gang jeg trakk den ut og inn, så ble aldri noe prosjekt video av det. større sjanse for en motorisert retur.

I have not noticed much loss. I did plan to put an O-ring on the swivel part, but it has a taper which you can see at 1:20 that makes it seal good. the two pipes is also a reasonable tight fit

    Nice vac hose reel. Is that a 50' x 1.5" hose & what size turntables are those ? Is there a parts/cut list/website ? Thanks.

    Thanks Pat. Yes I think it is close to these dimensions. It is an old hose from a central vacuum system for domestic homes that I trash picked. If I remember correct I think those are 6" x6". o plans for this one unfortunately, but check out my website for my other plans at www.bellevuewoodshop.com👍😄

    You sir, are a Genie's Arse ! Absolutely brilliant : ) Only thing I didn't recognise was the rotating ring affair : ( Looked like a dis-assembled castor base plate but… ? Maybe a sturdier mono mount could be possible to make a cranking handily an option ? Not the hose length needs it though : ) Have you seen Alex's work on the TehDoor channel, I think you'd appreciate his ingenuity and philosophy on how to as well. Thanks for sharing, I'll stash this one away in the good idea's file : )

    John Smith Thank you John for the generous word, it is much appreciated. The rotating ring is a lazy Suzan (just google it if you are not familiar with these) Monomount is an option, or maybe a motorized version, as someone else commented. I have subbed to TehDoors channel for some time now, and that dude sure has amazing ideas and contraptions, it is absolutely worth recomenting

    Have you written plans for this? Thought about a solution for a hand crank, motor, or spring retraction? Would love to build something like this for my garage ceiling, for pulling down the hose when needed, then retracting when done.

  • @bellevuesnekkeri

    @bellevuesnekkeri

    David Marcus I have not made any plans for this yet, might write up some free plans, but the plan would have to be suited the length and diameter of hose and the lazy susan one have avaialble. But there might be a simple free sketch on my website. I have fiddled around with some ideas abaout and i did motorize it, but felt it overcomplicated the build. But in the case of having it as a pulldown unit in the garage, as you mention, some kind of retracting would be necessary. I think some kind of spring return would work best, and I have not given up the idea on that yet

    Did I miss what the swivel cuff looks like? That's what makes this thing work or not. Is the "lobe" action mechanical or "air resistance"? I think this thing is great. Everyone seems to want something for nothing, and begrudge you doing the hard part of the project for them. Did you notice they all say I "can" or I "could" this? That means they don't have one, didn't think of it, and want it for $1. You sell them the CAD & kit, they'll make 3, sell 2, and STILL be out $75 after NOT paying themselves for their time, or their use of their CNC @ $125/hr. Give the guy who thinks this stuff up the money & be happy. You could have shown the "pockets" a bit better; the comment about end grain didn't notice them, nor did I.
