Homemade Scissor Lift - Cool!

Ғылым және технология

This is a homemade scissor lift that was given to us. The person who made it, used it to hold up cabinets during installation. Really a pretty cool invention!

Pretty cool - prolly be fine if the screws were staggered for the split joint. (and perhaps if they had pilot holes)

Tell your friend he's one smart cookie! I see lots of uses for something like this. Especially when someone isn't able to lift heavy loads as they once were able to do. Could definitely use it here at my house and I probably will. Neat!

Yep, good idea! Wish I had the measurements of wood & location of holes. BUT one SAFETY note needed, be careful of tipping with certain items, I would of made a longer/wider bas for better stability.

***** Well, look who it is! As you can see, it's a popular video. The lift spent about a year in my dad's garage till I decided I should film it. A number of people asked for the plans but I couldn't help them. Sadly it did break and it's dismantled now, but the video shows clearly how to make one. But you made it first and you get all the credit! It just needs a stronger base. Btw, your old house is still in good shape. Hope things are well with you!

  • @Tripillian

AutistiVision Doing good. I hope the same for you! Totally agree on a stronger base. If I had to do it over, again, I would take my time..... and definitely use a lot less wood. Wood has a way of amplifying every little squeak :-) BTW, great video presentation. You really do show all aspects.

It looks like there are no washers on the bolts in between the two pieces of wood. I've made one in the past using the following: bolt, washer, board, washer, teflon washer, washer, board, washer, nut. That resulted in much less friction as it was moving. Even under load it didn't make noise.

+AnonymousWalrus Great idea! That would have made a scissor lift worth keeping. The man who made this one says that he made it very fast in one day just to have a 1 time use tool for lifting cabinets. But it would be great to make a permanent one. Your idea would be perfect.

foxdepuebla No no, as you see in the video, this one broke at about 80 lbs. This was originally designed to lift cabinets into place, nothing heavier. I believe this could be made sturdier to use with an electric jack, but the base where it slides would have to be steel. Be careful.
