*Phenomenal portaband. Worth the wait in replacing my stolen previous model **MyBest.Tools** Variable speed, with an adjustable governor, adjustable shoe, and locking articulating forward handle. It's beefy, but feels just incredibly well built and solid, will eat through strut, emt, rigid, all thread, whatever, all day.*

This saw is a beast. It does eat batteries kzread.infoUgkxkgtf23NRld6bKLCxmOpLdl8xZmfz8Wbq but I can live with that. What is troubling is the fact that blades don't seem to last more than three cuts and are no longer blades. The saw, itself, is pretty much perfect... and $90 overpriced, at least.

Hi Tony just happened on this youtube channel it’s just amazing that you've built those great bikes with an old band saw “decades old” then you build yourself a new one i’ve been a fan and I have your book “Motorcycle Chassis Design: The Theory and Practice” will definitely keep an eye on your channel for new builds

Both used up now. I saved two from the scrap bin, they each had a damaged thread on the output flange. I wish that I had more, I am sure something will need one in the future.

Not really homemade ..it's all and well and this a very good build and top man but have can you do this work as homemade when most hobbyist don't have a lath or that type of heavy equipment.

64 years ago as a teenager I built a bandsaw with only hand tools. You use what you have and never think that you can't do it.

I mean, if I had the money for a milling machine, why would I bother making my own bandsaw?

Maybe I spent so much on the mill that I had none left over for a bandsaw.

@@MotoChassisByTonyFoale Is that what really happened? A diy bandsaw build seems like the type of thing that's researched due to being on a shoestring budget. Typically shoestring budget and milling machine are not mentioned in the same setting. It's a well thought out video and the build is solid but just doesn't seem practical for most diy'ers

I do not know what more to say. I have a mill and I built a bandsaw. It is the second one that I have built, the other was 60 years ago and I was definitely on a shoestring then.

Because DIYers do that kinda thing....would be a good answer.

@@todaywefly4370 Pfft. Since I made this comment I've bought a Harbor Freight bandsaw. I upgraded and replaced the blade upon purchase. Since then I've been able to make close to a hundred cuts that are within .005 of a perfect 90° angle. Aluminum, steel, and even a few cuts of stainless. All without the use of a $3000-to $5000 dollar milling machine and time invested to get me there. I get what he's trying to show in the video, but it's a moot point if I have to spend $5000 for a milling machine to make a bandsaw I could buy for $200 to $300. Why not title the video: Make a bandsaw with milling machine.
