As an European, I grew up with this recipe. We normally added garlic to it too, powdered if you don’t want it to be strong, raw if you want a strong garlic flavor. You can also make with EVOO but avocado oil gives it a more neutral taste. I also grew up with this kind of blender that we constantly use for our soups.

Same here! I grew up on mayonnaise (living in the South, we put it in everything lol!). So, making a healthier version was crucial for me. I love using it to make creamy homemade salad dressings and in things like broccoli salad, egg salad, chicken salad, etc.

Your not just Feelin but Lookin Fab too Kayla! That mayo you show at the :20 second mark costs $12-$14 a jar here in Canada, 2x the price of regular shelf brands. Crazy. So I got the av. oil and made my own. Pretty much same recipe as yours but I add some liquid whey to it and let it set 6-7 hours on the counter to start fermentation then into the fridge it goes. The fermenting gives it prolonged time before it turns bad. Good video 👍👍, and love your accent!

I just made it with olive oil, would definitely try it again with avocado oil. Not a fan of it with EVOO
You can easily skip the mustard, no problem. You can replace it with a tiny bit of honey, what is an even better emulsifier and you need to take care that the egg is at room temperature. That is all.

Yes, it's healthier than the majority of store bought mayo! If you're trying to lose weight, try mixing in 1/2-1 C. of unsweetened plain greek yogurt (or plain dairy free yogurt). This will help to cut the calories. And, unfortunately, this method only works with an immersion blender. But, there are lots of tutorials out there on how to make mayo with a food processor.
Can you show to make this healthier with Greek yogurt as you mentioned?

It can last 1-2 weeks in the fridge depending on how cold you keep your fridge. Yes, if you pasteurize the egg, it can last up to 1 month in the fridge.

Followed the steps and amounts exactly. For oil I used a blend of liquid coconut oil, avocado oil and extra virgin olive oil. I got a watery mess. Where did I go wrong?

My mayo is not as white as yours, is it because I use my own fresh eggs, they are more yellow.
Raw eggs can have salmonella bacteria though. I'd be concerned to eat that.
Followed it to a T and it didn't thicken up at all… What a waste and so disappointing!
