LOL! My parents used to tell me I could be anything I wanted to be when I grew up. I was a good student (3.89 GPA) and would've been better if I actually put in some effort. They had the funds to send me to any college I wanted, providing I put in some effort. My first year of college I finally put in some effort towards an education. That year I received a 1.6 GPA and a letter from the school requesting me not to re-enroll. I went and joined the USMC, stayed drunk for the 9 years I served, became a big asshole and loved every minute of it! So much for being a doctor, lawyer or astronaut my parents had hoped for. I drove a truck cross country after the Corps, doubtful my parents were impressed. But all that money they had set aside for my college tuition just sat there and grew and grew. When they passed away it had grown to the point where at 44yo I quit working. My house is paid off. Cars paid off, kids grownup and gone and for the last 12 years I do what I want and go where I want, all when i want. I put forth the effort, just not the way my parents had hoped for. I chose a career I enjoyed and made a living from it. Sure, no college degree but no regrets about choices I made either. I had no idea I would inherit enough to retire on, I was hoping enough to perhaps buy a new car. It all worked out good in the end, although I'd still rather have my parents around than any money. Ya know, maybe for just a little while longer? LOL. (True story)

For those that think an ion thruster is powerful, it’s not, when conducting an engine burn in space, these burns can take up to a year, not because it’s a long way to go, because the engine lacks large amounts of thrust, but it consumes a low amount of fuel, making it efficient. Also, others have said this below. There’s no show of thrust to even show that this is an ion engine.
@formdoggie5
2 жыл бұрын
Most ion thrusters wouldnt show thrust in an atmosphere. They produce thrust far too low -- that's why the burns take so long. In space, 1lb of thrust per hr accumulates infinitely until you run out of fuel. Thats what also makes them efficient. They go for the extremely efficient long-game; at the end of the year you have 9,000lb of thrust that will propel you until acted upon by the next gravitational source.

Reminds me of a project I wanted to do in school in the late 70's on ion rocket propulsion but the components were too expensive for me to buy as a kid. It consisted of several copper balls with copper rods attached to each like a lollipop with a point at the end of each rod. There was a cluster of them suspended by wire and hooked up to a car coil. When the coil was discharged the motor cluster would move like a pendulum.

@@ExpatZ266 Of course you are correct about the thrust levels produced by ion propulsion in general, although there are some variations. Please take a look at my patented ion thrusters. I have been working on ion propulsion full time for 21 years. One of the reasons the JPL or NASA thrusters need so much wattage to attain the thrust they do, is that they produce considerable heat and light, both of which are a power loss. Ionized molecules tend to emit light when they are "de-excited," or lose an electron not so much when they gain an electron. Adding electrons to O2 molecules requires less wattage and produces more thrust.

@Muffinconsumer4 Only bout 3 or 4 of the 37 videos that I have posted have a tether above, in them not including one that hangs from a postal scale. In one of those videos it is not clearly visible that the tether goes completely slack, rather it pulls very far to one side indicating nearly 100% lift as clearly stated in the descriptions under the videos. In all of the rest of the videos there are no tethers at all above the crafts. In several of the videos I wave a stick above the craft that clearly shows no tethers above or on the sides. It is also flown over a glass table that can spin and in front of exceptionally qualified officials. The craft follows known physics in an understandable way in order to operate, known physics cannot be faked, and has an official US patent explaining those physics clearly. Please follow the links and only watch the videos with tethers on a larger screen if need be, keeping in mind what I have said.

When people ask you what you did over the weekend Me and the boys:..
@formdoggie5

In all of the rest of the videos there are no tethers at all above the crafts. In several of the videos I wave a stick above the craft that clearly shows no tethers above or on the sides.
