HOMEMADE CREAMY YOGURT / SUPER EASY / STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS & RECIPE

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This video and recipe will have you making the best creamiest homemade yogurt ever. Pam and I have made this many times for our children. Of course that was when they were children. LOL Now they are all grown men.
When I was a young man, we made homemade yogurt for our family. But we only made 6 pints at a time. I figured that was one each. 4 sons and Pam and I. However, it was usually all gone by the time I got home from work. I had to figure out a way to make more!
So here's what I came up with. If you have any questions about the process or building the hanger, just leave your questions in the comment section. I promise to answer them.
It's been a while since we made yogurt but we are already taking about making another batch so we don't run out. Yes, it's that good!

HOMEMADE YOGURT
INGREDIENTS
2 Gallons whole milk
2 6 ounce cartons of plain Greek yogurt
Stock pot
Ice chest
2 large towels
Yogurt straining bags
4 Quart containers
Thermometer
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Choose a pot that will fit into an ice chest and will hold 2 gallons of milk.
2. Pour whole milk into the pot.
3. Heat milk to 180° while continually stirring.
4. After reaching 180°, transfer the pot of milk to your sink half filled with cold water. Add ice to the water to help cool the milk. I used a larger pot that my stock pot fit inside with room for water and ice.
5. Stir the milk until the temperature goes down to 115°.
6. Mix in both 6 ounce cartons of plain Greek yogurt.
7. Put a towel at the bottom of the ice chest.
8. Place the pot of milk on top of that towel inside the ice chest.
9. Place another towel over the pot and close the lid of the ice chest.
10. Let the milk incubate for 24 hours.
11. This next step is optional. If you want your yogurt thick & creamy, strain yogurt through a strainer for 2 - 4 hours.
12. Transfer the yogurt from the strainers into containers and refrigerate.
That’s it.
Chef’s Notes: It’s perfectly fine to let the milk incubate in the pot overnight with no problems.
The whey you will extract has plenty enzymes and proteins so you can save it and use it in your smoothies. There are many other uses for whey.
Add blue berries, strawberries or any other fresh fruits to your yogurt for added flavor.
