🟢Citric acid information:
When citric acid and sodium hydroxide lye (NaOH) are combined, sodium citrate is created. Sodium citrate works as a chelator in soap.
A chelator traps metal ions such as calcium and magnesium that can be found in tap water.
These metal contaminants can cause rancidity and soap scum in handmade soap.
A chelator binds to these metals so that they can’t bind to the soap molecules. This way the soap won’t react with them and the soap's lather improves + shelf life increases.
Citric acid does not lower the pH of soap. Instead it consumes some of the lye and increases the superfat. Add 6 g extra lye for every 10 g of citric acid added to a soap recipe if you want to keep the superfat % at the same level.
How much citric acid should be added to soap?
Usage rate in bar soap is 1-2% of the oil weight.
How to use citric acid
Add citric acid to the distilled water and dissolve completely before adding the lye, or make a separate solution of citric acid and distilled water and add to the oils.

Being a South Indian i never released how hard it is for people to break open the coconut and take out coconut milk. A suggestion rather than using stainer along with small cloth just use a bit bigger cloth and twist on both sides to squeeze the coconut milk out. How they do it for cheese making using cheese cloth.

I never have seen someone open a coconut so sophisticated in my life 😃 Normally we just bang it hard against the concrete ground and edge of the step here in Trinidad, until to splits open
Beautiful!! I thought I was not possible to make soap out of citrus because of the acidic nature but I'm willing to try this one.

Thank you! Definitely possible but it will just raise the superfat so it's good to be aware of that😊

gorgeous. I don't know if I watch to learn how to make soap or to be inspired by the scenery
A safety tip: put a damp towel under your cutting board to keep if from sliding around. That's a bad accident waiting to happen.

Greetings, your (SECRET) soap making looks amazing, I say "secret" because there is no ingredients listing while making the soap. And, a note for future videos...wayyyy too much background noise, with slamming of your dishes, yet I enjoyed the soft background music. I would most definitely watch more of your videos without so much (utensils) background noise...hurts my inner eardrums when using earphones. Giving thanX for sharing. Much respect and love 💪🏾🙏🏽

Wow, what a lovely soap, i recently made a soap with spirulina, mixed it with half the batter, the other half was left without any additives. And I too used Palmarosa EO, but mixed with cedarwood and peppermint.

Thank you Joya, that sounds really lovely! How did you like the spirulina color?

@@tellervo. I got a less intense colour more like pastel green as my oils had yellow colour. Also I didn't infuse the oil I used spirulina powder directly.

Hi, what is the name of the little white cloth that you used to put inside of the spring there because when I try to use a napkin or paper towel inside of my screen or it doesn’t come out and pour out like yours do because it’s just really give me back the olive oil you color instead of mix with the spirulina
Thank you for this wonderful video

My skin will be so clean and glowing with your soap I think☺
Lovely recipe; An easier way to soften coconut its to put in in the hot oven for maybe 5 minutes or on top of stove's top, tap it on all sides and crack it open. Then grate the meat and use cheese cloth, so much easier.

Hi! I just discovered your channel and am very glad I did :) Your videos are stunning and your soap making style is very close to my heart :) I am wondering, being a soap maker myself, do you always use high lye concentrations in your soaps and why so? My recipes usually call for 25-30% of lye conc. and I see you make even 45% or so. Very curious how does it impact ready soap. Cheers from Poland 😊
Amazing❤❤❤
Relaxing and learning something new too. Thank You!
