HOMEMADE BIG BATCH RANCH DRESSING MIX!! KITCHEN BASICS!

This is the very best ranch dressing mix we have ever had and we love to make it in a quadruple batch so that we always have it when we need it. So easy to make using ingredients that most of us have on hand and if you don't have them, trust me, you are going to want to have these things on hand to make this mix.
We are planning on using this mix to season up some awesome crispy ranch fish fingers, but we also use this of course as dressing, dip, popcorn sprinkle and even as a way to season up meat, fish and bread crumbs for frying all those wonderful things!
You can find the recipe for this big batch version on my website here:

I hope you give this a try and I hope you love it!

Hello Noreen. I'm from Berlin - Germany and always looking for a Ranch Seasons recipe. In Germany there is neither an instruction nor an original mixture to buy. That's why it's great to have finally found a guide here. Thank you , for this great and very well explained video. Many greetings from Berlin Annette💖👌😊

I know this is an older video, but I remember watching it from way back! I’m job shadowing for a local restaurant and I made “homemade” ranch for the first time last night! It’s just buttermilk, mayonnaise, and hidden valley ranch packets, but I thought of this video, so I came back to it!

My family loves this recipe. I made up a quart right after watching your video, and it makes so much sense to make a bigger batch. Since we love garlic, I added a bit more powder, and it also makes a great blue cheese dressing by tossing in some blue cheese crumbles when you mix up a batch.

I just made this with buttermilk powder as I didnt have any regular powdered milk, so I will keep it in the fridge, but man is this tasty stuff. I made a double batch of the powder and made a 2 cup batch of the ranch and my daughter (my taste tester) about took the jar and ran with it, lol. Love this. Cant wait to make ranch chops with it now.

This is one great recipe and a tremendous $saver! One tiny package of hidden valley ranch dressing costs 2.00 and has about two tablespoons in it. I had several things to make over the holidays and if not for this recipe I couldn’t have afforded to make them all. So thanks katzcradul and Noreen for sharing something I could make with every single spice already on hand. I enjoy your recipes Noreen and the way you explain everything!!

No need. You prepare this with buttermilk. Dry buttermilk powder will shorten the shelf life and cause the dry mix to clump and harden much more quickly.

Hi Noreen, I love this recipe! I have a similar recipe that I received from my sister-in-law. We also use this ranch recipe for making a snack mix like Chex cereal snacks but we add quite a bit of different things like cereals, peanuts, cheetos, M&M's, pretzels (whatever you want to throw together, the sky is the limit)...anyway, we sprinkle the homemade ranch dressing in (however much you want) and a small bottle of Orville Redenbacher's popcorn oil and it is delish! Just thought I would share. Happy Cooking :)

Buttermilk powder is not recommended. It does not have the same shelf life and will clump and harden which the regular dry milk will not do. It is best to usr this as written. Also best to purchase buttermilk when planning to make it. I cannot guarantee a great outcome when subbing out ingredients.

The recipe I use, the ranch stays on the runny side. My family wants it thicker, like the stuff that comes pre-made. Also, I use buttermilk powder. I wonder how that changes it?

hi Noreen love this recipe. just one question. what's the difference between pink salt and regular salt?

  • @noreenskitchenchannel

    @noreenskitchenchannel

    7 жыл бұрын

I use Himilayan pink salt because it is a mineral salt. It contains more and higher mineral values because it is mined at the source, minimally processed and healthier for you. It is, in my opinion the best to use. Additionally, we find the Pink salt to be much saltier than highly processed table salt therefore you use much less to season your foods. Here is an article you may find helpful: www.livestrong.com/article/26690-health-benefits-himalayan-salt/ We never use sea salt anymore because of Fukushima nuclear melt down as well as the gulf oil spill and the massive tons of Corexit and other chemicals that were deposited there.

I like Hidden Valley ranch mix but want to stay away from preservatives. Do you like Hidden Valley? If so, how does it compare? I tried one diy ranch mix and was slightly disappointed.

Noreen where do you get your little cups you measured your spices in? I tried looking for them and the one place I found them they were to expensive in my opinion ($6 for 10). I don't know the name of them so hard to find on the internet to try and order them, The ones I mentioned were pill cups and I am not sure if that is what your using. Sorry if this seems like a dumb question but I am one who likes to have everything measured out and ready to go when I cook and I have been putting them in dixie cups but I love that they are clear and I don't want to buy those glass ones,, just want inexpensive ones... thank you for any info

Look on Amazon.com for disposable Souffle Cup, portion cup, or jello shot cup. Lots of choices and prices.

I save mine from Taco Bell, when I order a side of guacamole & sour cream. Sometimes I get the bigger ones from the pizza place. Hope that helps?

thanks everyone for the info,, Jello shot cups duh, I should have guessed that one LOL dollar store didn't have them, neither did walmart. I don't go to taco bell or pizza hut type places but that is a good idea, may ask some friends to hold onto theirs.. great idea all,, thank you!

I get mine locally from a restaurant supply that sells them by the sleeve. I don't have to purchase a box of 5000 in order to get a good deal. I buy 1, 2 and 4 ounce portion cups as well as the lids in a separate sleeve. We usually go through 2 or 3 sleeves of the cups before we finish a sleeve of lids. But I like having the lids on hand for when I want to send dressing to school for a salad or some peanut butter to dip apple slices in. You can get them online from Webstarauant store. Here is a link. I buy a number of things from them. www.webstaurantstore.com/choice-2-oz-clear-polystyrene-souffle-cup-portion-cup-125-pack/999P200C.html Hope this is helpful!

My local Walmart has ranch mix as follows: hidden valley 2 packets $2.46 or 4 for $4.52. Wish bone is $1.98 for a box of 2 packets. That is walmart of course, go to your dinky local grocery sure and it's probably double or triple. I will definitely be making this instead, thanks Noreen, love all your videos!
