The administration has to do a better job with our veteran population/ the effort has to be reciprocated from the veteran population as well.. I have seen first hand how veterans act when they are getting all of their desires given to them and it’s reprehensible… There is so much funding available to assist the veteran population.. Some work the program and successful attain their erstwhile desires and then there are those whom let their addictions control them and it’s so very sad…

Nope. I’m a man, but life as a woman is dangerous enough without having to walk past homeless shacks to get home. You people need to rub your two brain cells together and make a cohesive thought. What if two things are true at the same time? 1. This veteran is nice and needs to be taken care of until he can get on his feet. 2. It’s unacceptable to build a structure, whether it’s on wheels or not, on public or private property without permission. You don’t get to break the rules because you are homeless.

He's also extremely talented at working on people's bikes without their permission. I live in that area. I had my high-end racing bike stolen so I put up flyers all over the neighborhood. The eatery across the street called me saying that they saw him with my bike. I met the police there. I was so lucky that I got it back before he stripped it apart. It took me 2 years to save up for that bike! He also had 11 other expensive bikes stuffed in that "house".

A common sign that people watch the news is that they hate homeless people. If Jesus was walking down the street they would call Him a loser also.

The lack of empathy is crazy. He's obviously not a threat. You can tell he's a hardworking, goodhearted person. He made a nice looking house out of decent materials and he even put flowers out front. Listen I don't like the homeless problem either but they're still humans. We should not target homeless people who are actively trying to improve themselves. He is obviously not a problem. To me he seems like a much better person than that god awful newscaster lady. You can literally see the disgust on her face all because she saw someone she viewed as "lower" than her.

No matter how the media tried to shame him...HE SHOWED THE MOST ...Intellegence and Class!!😁

It literally makes me physically ill to see a homeless veteran..( I feel empathy for all homeless..don't get me wrong) but to see our sisters and brothers who have literally given themselves for this country have to be without really breaks my spirit. Don't get me started on the treatment or lack therefore from some of the staff who works for the VA facilities. Not all of them, but I know Veterans who have had terrible experiences and I have personally witnessed rude/disrespectful staff. 💔😩🙏🏾

The VA actually does find services and housing for you. If you are on low to no income while in the military, the VA offers you free housing and a federal job to get you on your feet, the housing is temporary until a nearby military installation has housing available or whenever you feel ready to take a VA house loan. The only rules you must follow while spieling with the VA is that you must not be on any form of federal illegal drugs or prescriptions. Normal homeless housing is terrible and is worse than living on the streets, VA homelessness housing is a lot better and actually treats you as a human being.

Those people just made themselves look bad. He’s already in a bad situation. They’re appalled with his resilience and are mad that he’s getting by in a way within his means and not wallowing in self pity. As a 10 year Army veteran myself, one thing I can tell you is that the Army does a good job teaching you how to survive as a homeless person. Kudos to my fellow veteran brother. "Improvise, adapt, and overcome."

Interesting take here from the people who are saying that he occupying land that isn’t his. I guess I should point out that he isn’t rooted, he has made a Mobile home. With No utilities of the city attached. Shame on you for trying to take Away from his tenacity. Humble situation in front of us here. This is a story about a man defying the odds on His terms. A veteran, homeless but he is using his wits to survive in his own fashion. It may be a bit obscure but you take this man and spit in his face because he hasn’t surrendered to your way of life. Shame shame. While you are sitting cozy in your home keep in mind that though your laws books of this new world mandate your living this land actually belongs to our First Nations people. That’s beside the point but you should have admiration towards his will to survive and the fact he has become a picture of how to survive homelessness. For those of you who are gearing up to counter my comment here, before ya do, go live as a homeless person for 2 weeks to 30 days. See what that world really entails. And if you aren’t willing to do so then you have no place to clap back as we are Not the same. My hats off to the veteran in this story.

They were expecting a totally different person. He was respectful, honest and upfront. They were trying to find something wrong with him. Her question, "where is he getting power from". His question, "is he paying taxes". Not one question about him as a person.

He is breaking the law, and if everyone built a structure wherever they decided they wanted to live we would live in utter chaos and probably violence. The implication in those questions is not to pick on the homeless, but that he's intelligent, familiar with discipline and structure (he was in the military) and ought to be back in the rat race like the rest of us (eventually).

The fact their facial expressions, the woman's repetitive questions, and the tone in their voices clearly show their intent. He clearly stated to them why he doesn't like the environment of the housing for homeless because it's concentration camp style and he clearly stated he has a generator (which if you have two brain cells which she's obviously missing) you know a generator didn't use electricity so no, he's not using any of the city's resources. And furthermore he works fixing people's bikes and scooters to make money which is how he pays for his living expenses such as food. Their utter disgust for homeless people is so front and center it's sadistic.

The female reporter kept trying to exploit the gentleman asking about the usage of the city's electricity. The male reporter kept ignoring her, then finally answered her by saying no. Great job and good luck to this gentleman. He's no longer homeless.

Notice that a lot with women reporters. The men will usually sort of defend eachother unconsciously in certain situations where women are trying to unnecessarily vilify men

Hope he is doing well. He served our country. Mentally he probably went through a lot. He sees building is a form of therapy. Pray he has his own lot or land to build what he desires.
