Makes me so sad. A homeless man died in a fire trying to keep warm right behind my apartment building. Never knew he was there until his death. I made him a cross, his name was Gary. ❤

@Patricia Kehaya Because there are no programs for homeless because this is great nation and we have no problem with anything. The only time they will step in is when we have massive scale homelessness because it will easy to see for those low IQ decision makers, and by the way I would like to salute Bucko Becker the person who made the cross for Gary

This is why so many homeless come to California. The warm weather in the winter. They stay here and feel better. Then the summer comes, 100°+ everyday. Then they die from the heat and there's no family members in the area to claim the body. There's enough land and empty buildings for this to happen in America. We can send a man to the moon. But cannot put one in a house. I'm so ashamed of this. Because, I watch them do this. All of this !

Everyone has sympathy for the homeless until they cause a forest fire trying to cook a can of beans, dump a bucket of feces on an innocent passerby, or invade a home and try to rob everything in it to keep their habit/addiction going for another day or two. Also, 18% of California homeless are registered sex offenders yet commonly setup camps where children play, so, sleep well at night.

@@itsnotthesamething Gotta clean the system and make the law apply the same no matter your wealth. It's the millionaires and billionaires making these decisions and buying out politicians. Regan and the republicans were the first to fall to it. Now the rot is so deep I do not know if we can get rid of it without putting some heads on pikes. Still disgust me that the Pharma companies that caused the biggest opioid crisis in this country do not see any jail time. Just pay something like 14million when they made billions.

Here is the thing. Most ppl that are homeless are NOT homeless because they are on drugs, or bad ppl!!! I learned this years ago...Some people are only a paycheck away from homelessness! I had money my entire life..until I did not. I had to go to homeless shelter with my 4 yr old son. I would be out during the day going to work on public transportation..and I had people asking me for money!!!! I would say, I am homeless too n they do not believe it. Homeless comes in many forms. Please do not think just because they are homeless, they are useless!!!!

unfortunately i feel the pain. i have been brought up to think that if i am not part of a potential solution i become part of the problem. we have a problem of thinking classes or the caste system that is associated with the country of india. we still believe in the color of our skin. those of the white persuasion are not lilly white unless we are albino (white by genetic challenges i met one at the local hardware store. he was a little different but after you.get over his challenges it was no big deal. on the normally white folks we are really pale faced people but if we bake in the sun we burn blood red so now we have red necks and red all over the skin was not shaded by clothing. boiling it down in ray stevens song jesus loves the little children of the world wether they are yellow black or white they are precious in his sight. long story to say we are all children of god with unique dna blessings from god and challenges from. the homeless should be home challenge of various degrees. and hopefully for a short period of time before they find shelter. a hand out is difficult for me to justify. if you make it a hand up without any strings attached and no formal time limit but a helping hand an a respectful treatment so that a person can work on issues that prevents then from resolving thier issues so they move toward a better more permanent solution. a tough nut to crack. still thinking on it.

Build or re-use deserted army barracks with medical centre provided . ? Only sensible option . Just accept that taxpayers woll.have to pick up the tab for most of them for rest of their lives. It's done already for illegals so switch that spending to US citizens only. Harsh but that's how it is.

She should go to a different shelter then. I went to a shelter once and it was not bad at all. They had rules but other than that I thought it was safer and warmer than a car or tent. I applied for housing and got a place in 6 months. They can access internet at local library to apply for low income housing.

Here's a thought since they're not doing enough to put people and housing they're not doing enough and he's warming centers and other crap that the government claims they are doing so much but everyone knows they are not other than damaging property what little lives they have and splitting up each other why doesn't someone go out there and teach them survival skills safer ways of staying warm there's certain ways that you can safely stay warm in a tent if taught that you don't need a heater you don't need things that could cause it to catch fire teach these homeless people survival skills if they've been homeless or just going into being homeless these are necessary tools that would benefit them homeless are not drunks they're not druggies for ten years I helped the homeless and then for two years I chose to be homeless side-by-side them where are the most respectful most generous people you will ever come across any don't forget where they come from we could do so much more create Safe Haven boxes there is a guy right now who will happily if they ask him he is making homeless boxes that are like little mini tiny homes and they can go in there and shoes to get warm or go in there and actually live people need to wake up these are lives at stake these are people you shouldn't be so easily just tossed aside forgotten about and told they don't matter all lives matter where is people's Humanity make your Governors your mayor's make the president make the government listen make them understand teach them survival skills better ways to combat their homelessness then just promising them empty promises pull up these tiny little itty bitty one person-to-person mobile homes just barely big enough for them to lay down in and give them a place to stay why is that so hard how can people be so blind so uncaring towards each other

A lot of your broken homes are also what contributes to homelessness about 38% of homeless people come from unloving homes were they were nothing to their family from day one they already feel like the world is against them they already feel like they don't matter so what as a human race are we going to do to show these ones who were unfortunate that they do matter they can do better if given the chances and what they really need to make their lives successful I think in schooling one of the things before a person graduates they must spend five years being homeless so that people are raised in today's society that everyone matters and that even the smallest words can either destroy a life or give a person hope and give them life I think our schools are Judges our police force Fire Department lawyers and doctors need to be reminded the O's that they took and that they are supposed to strive for a better civilization a better mankind give harsher punishments to those in power who have destroyed and disrespected the Oaths that they took

To accuse mental illness such as ptsd for not going to shelter when woman says its not safe at shelters, is a disconnect in communication and denial of the real issue. They arent safe. Life threatening issues with pecking orders established is big risk to those just trying to get back on their feet. Theyre not there to hussle a deal or stay for long. But they are easy targets from those who have that mindset of preditor. And anyone working in the industry knows it.

No they are slowly dying. Sleeping rough like that will age you very very quickly even if you don't have major issues and the stress, fear of violence never really goes away. I exist in my suburban with 2 sleeping bags and many coats. Can't afford housing anymore.ife expectancy is about 42 yrs if you stay outside for many years. It's a slow to rapid suicide living outside. The government is clear on this if you are listening. Disabled, mentally ill, druggy, old, they want you dead, the sooner the better. You are of no use, a wage slave that can't work is a burden. That's it. Enjoy.

The real reason they don’t allow you to bring your food is because they have $1.50 meal they want to give you and so that they could be subsidize $40 for each 1.50 .they give away
