Homeless man sleeps out in the snow at -18°C

In this eye-opening video, we follow the story of James McGilvery, who chooses to experience what it's like to be homeless during Canada's harsh winter. With temperatures nearing minus 20 degrees, James finds solace in a makeshift tent off Recreation Avenue, a space designated by the city for those in need. Despite the availability of shelters, James opts for this personal experiment to understand the reality of surviving the cold outdoors.
Through the interview, we learn about James's setup: a sleeping bag, pallets for insulation from the ground, blankets, plastic bags for moisture protection, and hand warmers for additional warmth. His surprising revelation that he considers this situation "good" for him challenges viewers to think about homelessness and the human spirit's resilience.
This video not only highlights the critical issue of homelessness in Canada but also sheds light on individual experiences within the broader context of social support systems and their accessibility. Join the conversation in the comments below and share your thoughts on this compelling story.

Genuine Experiment? Yeah right. You can't be going around all day everyday outside in -20 weather and not be cold. I don't care who you are. You breathe in that cold air all day. Pulling pallets and pushing a cart makes you breath in that cold air even deeper. Feet freezing and possible frost bite. Every hour that you are outside in that frigid weather you feel colder. So if you have been outside in the weather for 8, 10, 12, or 15 hours then you will be much colder than somebody who has been out in that weather for 1 or 2 hours. I think your care body temperature drops or something. If you have been out in the cold for 1 or 2 hours you will warm up much quicker than somebody who has been out in the freezing cold for 8 or 10 hours. That can take many hours to warm up. Trying to push a cart, carry a heavy back pack, luggage, bags of belongings, pallets, and such for miles while freezing cold, sick, hungry, having lung diseases or other chronic diseases and frozen feet can be draining or near impossible.

There is some truth to that, but it also shows that you lack experience with *TRULY* having no security. I helped at a place where homeless guys came to take a shower, have a coffee for a cent and warm up for the day. I remember the faces of some of them when it was cold, it was heart breaking... Women have a lot more help than men, they get easier access to shelters and a lot more help. And nobody care about that, it doesn't fit the official narrative...

Somehow I doubt the guy is truly homeless. Notice his cheerfulness!! Read "Paradise Below Zero" by Calvin Rutstrum.. Downside is that a quick cup of coffee isn't always doable.. When I wake up like that, I go "Coffee time!!" There's some really nice sleeping bags available, in oversize so you can stretch out!!, that'll keep you comfy below zero, and they're not down, so they're actually much easier to take care of. Of course, Calvin Rutstrum had good times (and good stories!!) in the days before down alternatives.

There's all different types of homeless people dude. Some people only have a place to stay on certain nights some people have cars etc... My gut tells me this guy is forced to be homeless on certain days and not others or that he can get into shelters but that the rules are very restricting just like myself I'm not a drug addicted homeless person But I still choose to remain outside of the shelter because for one thing the people in it for another thing the people running it have ridiculous rules. I'm not a drug addict but if I want to have a drink or smoke some weed or whatever if I want to even do a line from time to time I don't want anybody telling me how to run my life These people drink coffee every morning or they couldn't even get up and go to work caffeine is a serious drug. It's a lifestyle and people get jealous of our lifestyle. We are on the front lines fighting this war against the sewish slumlords and the government that enforces their unlawful rules in the courts of lawlessness and injustice. WE ARE ON THE FRONT LINES FIGHTING A WAR JUST TO BE ABLE TO SLEEP FOR FREE TAX-FREE IN OUR OWN SHELTER, AND WE NEED ALL THE DRUGS WE CAN GET. WE WILL NOT PAY PROPERTY TAX!! WE WILL NOT WORK FOR ¥EWISH SLAVE MASTERS. We are on the front lines of this war versus ¥ews and The people who support the sews army of skumlords🇮🇱government.. We The People ARE ON THE FRONT LINES OF THIS WAR IT IS A REAL WAR AND Need All The Drugs We Can Get, just like soldiers overseas who are finding a Real War. We are trying not to hurt innocent people We need drugs to fight the mental anguish They are attempting to put us in for now we are okay. But we need more drugs, absolutely. you want us off the street? Pay us in drugs for picking up garbage and give us a free shed to live in. Free not $300 a month, if we have to pay $300 a month we can barely afford to eat, Never mind buy the drugs that we need to consume to keep from turdering the middle class boot lickers. We literally HAVE TO DO DRUGS because we don't want to turn into MASS Muderers, at least not yet, which is the only alternative.

Sleeping bag jackets are then giving out to the homeless people to help them stay warm during freezing temperatures.

Here in the province of Quebec, if you are homeless you can spend the night in the emergency room of any hospital. Nobody will ask you anything, even more, they will be happy that you do not ask for medical attention. If you want to sleep you go into one of the dozens and dozens of empty rooms all around the hospital. Again, nobody will ask you to leave, cause they don't care if you are sick or not. For the last 50 years they don't even answer the bell when a real patient rings...

That's a lot of the reason why nobody wants to help the homeless. They feel so burdened having to pay for their home and they are actually jealous of anyone who doesn't have that burden of paying a mortgage and taxes and can still sit there and smile in the freezing cold It makes them feel like they're doing it all for nothing. And this guy with absolutely nothing is happier than they are. It really grinds their gears.
