Here Butcher, Soldier Boy and Hughie barely are able to fight him in the finale f__king Queen Maeve who broke her wrists trying to hold the car is suddenly able to break Homelanders nose.

It shows that butchers the stronger man. He has his powers for a limited time and limited experience. Homelander had his his entire life. Butcher has something to die for, not fight for. Homelands biggest fear is death. Whereas butchers entire life goal is to die with purpose.

@@anthonyzullo I always thought that he was smiling like that simply because Homelander was now on equal grounds with him and the fact that Homelander was struggling and had to put in effort filled butcher with glee.

I love seeing how Homelander fights when he's faced with an actual challenge. It's clear he never actually has had to work on his form, he throws very telegraphed haymakers, wide hooks, and aggressive punches. Throughout this entire fight, he's being mostly protected by his ungodly high power and strength.

Equally, I love the fight choreography in The Boys in general. Homelander instantly lasering Butcher without first some long winded standoff. Direct, hard punches and grappling, rather than throwing people stupidly across the room. etc.

@@mank89Idk about that, Butcher has real experience in fights but as a supe hes just ground and pounds like a street brawler, kinda like Homelander but hes dealt woth many supes before that were far weaker, only exception being maeve, Nazi girl and maybe Black noir who he killed easily, The real show case of his experience is when he fought SB a real veteran here, he even beats Butcher and many others in a fist fight even being held down by 4 of them including Meeko whos as strong as Black noir.

2:00 this was the Oi-est of all Oi's in the whole series. Made it into my notification tune for so long.

My guess is that butcher has fighting in his DNA, hughie always runs away. The plot ensures the compound v gives powers to help their specific situations. You can tell Hughie still doesn’t hit as hard as Butcher. If hughie had lazer eyes and super strength he would have ripped ATrain apart.

Anthony Starr deserves an award. Dude is legitimately scary. He could tell an entire story with facial expression. His eyes tell it all. A broken powerful man just wanting to be loved. His facial expression acting is unprecedented

There’s this point when he’s on stage with Starlight, an audience member shouts out his Nazi girlfriend is dead, and something just under the skin twitches. That really shows homelanders strength. He’s an inexperienced fighter vs three experienced fighters with power. Though soldier boy was rusty, and the other two weren’t used to their powers, they still had years of combat experience fighting people that were powerful, and all three of them do nothing apart from fighting. And here we have homelander, has never met a match, doesn’t really do any fighting but just walks around lasering bad guys, and is worried about other stuff like voughts numbers and promotional activities. And yet he still holds his own and does really well against these guys. And on top of that he was limited in a closed space. If this was a battle in an open place like a field or landscape, he could put on of his greatest powers, flight, into good use, gaining distance, going fast, attacking from multiple angles, repeatedly crashing down on the boys, and so much more. Really comes to show the power of the Homelander.

No other fight scene (including you Marvel) didn’t come close in giving me the satisfaction of bringing the antagonist down a few pegs like this one. I was so pleased in seeing Homelander being turned from Hunter to Prey by the Butcher. The look in Butcher’s eyes as he can taste his victory being so close and finally able to dish out his sweet vengeance to him. The look on Homelander’s face as he can clearly see that the battle is on equal footing. Great acting and superb writing. Can’t wait for the next season.

The respect I have for Hughie grows more and more by each episode. He has the balls and audacity to stay with Butcher and Soldier Boy knowing very well that he might die just to take out Homelander and possibly save millions of lives in the process.

Butcher was so much more experienced in hand-to-hand combat than anybody else in the room. But Homelander had the best outfit.

“what have you done” gives me chills everytime, Homelander realizing Butcher can actually fight him now

For a single precious scene, we saw something that seemed impossible from the whole show up until this point. Homelander legitimately FEARING FOR HIS LIFE.

My favorite scene in the whole series, all those episodes watching Homelander being untouchable and to finally see him subdued like this, majestic.

Homelander's reactions during the fight are priceless. He goes from being confident against Soldierboy, to shocked when Butcher has powers, frustrated when Hughie comes in and angry/scared when they all pin him down.

Anthony Starr puts on one of the best performances you could ask of and actor out of an action scene here. The range of emotions Homelander experiences from front to back of this fight and his ability to cleanly portray them is nothing short of brilliant. Whether it's his own idol shit talking him, accusing Billy of betraying their deal, realizing that Butcher has evened the ground somehow, Hughie showing up and realizing he might actually lose, then finally true fear and realizing that he has no choice but to turn tail and run. Off the top of my head I honestly cant think of another actor who shows such a wide range during a fight scene. Im sure there are other examples but I'm coming up blank

I love that of all the fights in the show, Soldier Boy seems to demonstrate the most realistic hand-to-hand combat here. He throws punches with intent and a meaningful target (e.g. uppercutting Homelander’s liver), manages distance, head movement, so forth. Pretty creative attacks like a headbutt, cape-pulling, slamming. Noticeably more strategic than all the untrained supes we see. Wish we got more Soldier Boy.

I love how soldier boy says how homelanders not stronger than him because he wears a cape then drags him to the ground by his cape

It’s scary to think that all 3 of them still wasn’t enough to keep Homelander down. That animalistic roar at 3:38 sold the moment perfectly. Amazing show.

SPOILERS***** ____ ____ ____ ____Homelander's powers seem to have been degraded just by being in proximity to Soldier Boy--no full discharge necessary. How else could Homelander's eardrum have been punctured by a mere piece of metal thrust by Maeve's hand? Homelander was said to have been unable to be harmed by anything that had been thrown at him before Soldier Boy re-appeared. And Homelander had even flown into the vacuum of space. Remember, Stan Edgar said Vought would be out of the supes business in five years time. Are Soldier Boy and Temp V the instruments to achieve that?

If you think about it, we all are animals IN OUR OWN RIGHT. That being said we may all identify with different savage beasts in the heat of a vigorous battle. Such times we call upon this beast (our spirit animal if you will) and we use not only it’s power but it’s animalistic wisdom to slash our foes from the kneecaps and below. Effectively disabling them from the fight. Once unlocked, this wisdom can be used to further the progress of man. That’s where most inventions come from. The man who invented the blow up doll we commonly use for penile satisfaction, was actually conceived by a man who fought a very dangerous but also oddly sexual bout with a bear back in the late 1800’s. Although his spirit anima is unknown, it is obvious it contributed to the wisdom he gained to invent such a technology, which was EXTREMELY revolutionary at the time. If I do say so myself. I like how during the fight you can clearly tell, homelander wasn’t winning against Billy or soldier boy because he was simply better but because he was simply more powerful. He out powered Billy with the heat vision and out powered(physically) soldier boy. It really puts in perspective why homelander isn’t as good as you think but at the same time he’s still the strongest for now

Homelander should understand that Butcher has powers in moment he lasered him. Typicaly his lasers hit human hody through. Only super durability can hold its damage and then victim is pushed away. His lasers didnt cut Butchers through, they kinetikly pushed him away. John should noticed that, but he didnt.

I love Mr Starr’s facial expressions especially the slight crookedness on his lips whenever Homelander’s in disbelief.

I was always curious as to just how strong Homelander was. Now seeing the fact he overpowered and was about to kill Soldier Boy and Super Butcher and held his own against 3 supes who caught him completely by surprise makes me realize why everyone is scared of him. He really is terrifyingly powerful

The oi from butcher gets me everytime. The look on his face after he said it. We knew shit was going down

this is easily my favorite part of the entire show. seeing homelander abuse his power the whole show and hurt everyone for his own satisfaction just to see him get absolutely beat on was immensely satisfying to watch

@@vincenthammons-kd9du That is the point. Initially it seemed that he was weak and only had the advantage of strength which is why he was so confident. But in the series they showed that he really knows how to fight. Even against 2-3 fighters. It was unexpected.

@@vincenthammons-kd9du Maybe I misunderstood the expression but it was said "absolutely beat". He wasn't. That's what I meant. He was outnumbered. And it was really dangerous to fight on because it was clear that Soldierboy was charging a shot.
