If your working in your shop for fun, there is no amount of saved time that is worth digging out a broken tap. Just hand tap.

Good idea , the front one may need to match the travel . Looks extra long . I wonder if it could be pleated with a heat gun and a clamp or two with boards or angle iron.

Thank you. I measured the length of maximum travel and cut both covers accordingly. Heating and folding sounds like it may work. I will need to give it a try. Cheers.

if you put a small rubber bungy on each side it will help it stay folded fold it where you want the folds and poke holes through all then install bungy through all both sides it will make it accordion.

What about the cheap hangable plastic accordian style privacy doors at home depot ..you could just cut to size

Interesting idea.. except those accordions are at least 3 inch wide, not much better than what I managed to accomplish. Cheers.

Try searching eBay “reinforced rubber sheet 1/16x24x44 tool box liner” I am not affiliated with any seller, so, you’re on your own there. Best of luck :-)

I’m sure there must be some substitute for this material, in your area.

If you just roll that stuff on a iron bar and connection through a spring put it in a box as required and put a screw on the top and bottom

That would be an interesting idea for a new video. The problem is metal chips getting curled in the roll, hard to clean up.

reason why you broke the taps, was due to incorrect use. there are specific spiral flute taps for when using in a drill, that do not need reversing to clear the waste material

Thanks for watching! Like I said, I never had a problem with straight flute taps until these came along. Also, I already bought some spiral ones to try out, just haven’t used them yet. Cheers.

You should never use spiral flute tap with a hand drill. Next time try spiral point OSG tap.

Your front cover looks like a royal pain in the ass. There has got to be a better way than spending 300bucks for gortite covers. ????

I do not disagree that the front cover is a bit awkward. But, it beats spending an arm and a leg for an accordion type..
