Yeah. I noticed that many reviews are either very positive or only negative because of a complication with the item and their skin. For me I had no complications other than the fact it hurt a lot. The “pain free” advertisement wasn’t true for me. Felt like I was getting shocked with heat every time until my hair follicles started to get smaller and my hair got thinner. It works for sure, but it’s a process that can be painful or great depending on hair thickness, cause the follicle will depend on thar

I saw a tip if you are finding it painful, i do on my inner thighs and privates. Instead of using the auto feature, do it manually and hold the machine on each section a bit longer, the skin will cool more and then it hurts way less/doesnt hurt at all.

I'm using the kenzi . I'm on my 7th treatment. Once a week. It's working!! Hardly any hair growing back. I make sure I never miss a week.

Kenzi burned my skin and it wasn’t even on high. It turns out it’s from china and it’s not fda approved. So I use American laser from Best Buy. Braun. It works great.

Love to see this topic get more attention online! One important thing is to be conscious about your own hair growth cycle, since it can definitely take way over a year for certain body areas to be really hair free, even when you IPL them weekly. Not getting frustrated when you’re unable to target these stragglers is a lesson to be learned. Knowing this is normal helps ease people’s mind a lot

Yeah, what I did was after a month (doing it once a week) I kinda forgot to keep doing it, it was also winter so, I started to noticed that I had 30% less hair overall, some bald spots in the middle etc. So definitely worth it.

I have the braun ipl device too! And it's incredible, I have sensitive skin and have only been using it for 3 weeks and I can already see how the hair growing back slower or not at all. If you follow the directions and do it properly then you really won't have any issues :)

I've been using Braun as well for about 2 years and my experience is mixed. In many places the hair doesn't grow anymore but in many it still does. It's way more than the 5-15% mentioned in this video. And idk if there is so much user error on my side that I keep missing the same places but half of my leg hair just doesn't want to go away.

@@tinnie75 maybe your hair is too light or skin is too dark 🤷🏾‍♀️ I noticed a difference on my legs from when I'm tan and not tanned , because my face is lighter and my hair is so dark it works really well on me. I do need to get the safety glasses though cause I blink or look away when I use it and I'm sure that glasses would speed up the process

Thank you so much for talking about paradoxical hypertrichosis! I am one of those few people who actually is suffering from it. I got laser hair removal done for my face and my hair grew back thicker. And ironically, the solution to remove the hair was *stronger* laser!

I think I'm one of those too 😢 sugar wax helped a lot but I only did it a few times last summer, I am going to try this year again (I done it professionally) and helped specially with ingrowt hair at the time. But for personal and financial reasons I had to stop

That does make sense as the hair on me that did not grow less but instead more were thicker deeper "ladybeard" hairs but my moustache and arms, hands, fingers, responded beautifully. I also get darker pigment from injuries but don't get them from my IPL knock of thing. And I used it three times on the same spot on the highest setting with naturally tan skin. So i think for the hair under my chin I need real laser. But I'm still extremely happy with the results I got from it on the other hairs, especially since I didn't do it regularly or often.

I don't have to shave any more after do you doing at home IPL years ago. Wish I did it sooner. Just get a reputable unit, follow the instructions, and do test spots like you would anything else 🤷‍♀️

The Philips IPL hair removal comes actually in wireless, and I have been using it for years and it works wonderfully. It never gave me burns, now I'm hairless and it's the only device I have used for hair removal, so I'm pretty sure of it's results.

I use Philips IPL, too. My skin is super sensitive, pale with dark hair. Sometimes it gets warm, but I wait the device to cool down a little, and I use it plugged, because it charges next pulse faster. Now my sister is using her own Philips too and is happy too.

I also have philips Lumea, but I have the older generation, which is constantly plugged in. It doesn't hurt anywhere except sometimes down there, but I just change the settings, and it's OK.

I second this. I used philips IPL to remove my bushy chest hair and armpits and it didn't burn even on the highest setting, but you definitely have to shave beforehand because the burnt hair stings, gets the glass dirty and smells pretty bad. You get about 30 flashes on the highest setting when its unplugged.

Can you use it on the bikini area or the whole area (obvi not anywhere past the skin skin the lips is what I’m getting at lol not on the little line that crosses that part if that makes sense)

Thank you, i knew there was a difference between ipl and laser, but not what it was. Drop shipping is kinda a thing for everything you can find online, though it’s more of a safety concern with something like ipl than it might be for other products. I even had someone drop ship some of the handmade items I sell in my Etsy shop! White labeling is a similar issue, and sometimes even causes more confusion/harm because the products often look more legit because they have actual branding and sometimes advertising behind them!

I use the pink Ulike one, it is soooo amazing! But yes, consistency and being thorough is key. I take about a half hour to 45 minutes to IPL my whole body. That doesn’t include showering and shaving time. Sometimes, if I have the device on full power for a while, I turn it off and give some time to cool down. My first month of using it ate up so much of my personal time. I am going to be honest, I found it super annoying and taxing in the moment. But the results are WORTH IT!!! My legs have never looked this good. What they don’t talk about with IPL, since you’re not getting ingrown hairs as much, the overall look and feel of your skin improves immensely. I am a great candidate for it though, so super white skin and medium/dark brown hair.

ive been using for a month and see mixed results. also little black hair follicles stuck beneath the skin so skin doesn't look better, i can squeeze most of them out with my nails but it's definitely not good for my skin to do that and im hoping they dont come back. havent noticed anything good happen in my lower leg area, the hair seems more raised actually but takes slightly longer to grow back. not sure what's going on or how to measure success at this point using 3x a week pulsing each area 3 times. it takes forever but want to be thorough

I've been using the Braun silk expert pro 5 for about 3 years now off and on. I haven't gotten burnt and I'm really happy with the results. It's saved me hours and hours of epilating! Some areas have more permanent removal, whereas others (thicker hair) fall out but grow back much thinner within a year or so. I'd definitely say it's worth it though. I've recommended it to friends who have purchased it and like it too!

I used Silk'n SensEpil on my legs 12 yrs ago. It was a pretty large unit than the sleeker ones sold today and I had to buy replacement IPL cartridges. I did about six treatments on my hairy lower legs. They have been hairless since. Unfortunately, my device no longer works. I recently bought the Kenzii to try for my other areas.

i've had the braun ipl for a year and do it on my whole body. I don't pluck my face at all anymore and i shave once in a while for the few random sparse hairs in some places. If it broke i would buy it again within a minute. I've had professional laser (lightsheer diode) and i much prefer the braun for many many reasons. I have PCOS and it really is the best thing ever.

@@heather8311984I'd say i did it religiously for like 2 months and then the results were really obvious to me. so thankful for this little thing, and 500$ is a lot but for completely changing the way a symptom that is so painful psychologically for many is handled it felt like such a short time i almost couldn't believe it. I was also super sus in using it on my face and in places where it was still not the most coarse hairs because i was scared of it stimulating growth. But when i became fed up enough and cried enough i tried and honestly, what the hell is life without it. I really, really recommend it to anyone and hope it works just as good. Don't give up and be consistent, and make sure you do it in a way to not miss spots! 😊 The most i've skipped using in the past year is maybe 3-4 weeks, it was barely noticeable and didn't grow back much but all it takes is 1 treatment and it's gone again.

I have dark hair and medium toned skin (half black), so it could work even better/faster on lighter skin. It gets better and better, starting to see results even the tiniest just means it's working and just the beginning not the most it can do 😊

If you find the time I would be so grateful if you could answer my question: I know totally understand why tweezing, and waxing before the treatment is counterproductive (I'm a tweezer..) (Also what is really frustrating is that both products that I use - Philips Lumea and Illuminage- lists in their manual tweezing and waxing before treatment as possible pre treatment preparations). However I would like to understand why tweezing after the treatment is wrong? If the follicle is dead isn't tweezing then ok? Kindly, Nina

This explanation helps me understand why my hands-free cordless breastpump didn't work, 20 years ago. I was overflowing with milk yet I couldn't get milk out of this device - it just wasn't strong enough. Never should have been sold! (I bought it as a secondary pump, hoping to make use of my commute to work).

I bought the Kenzzii on Black Friday. It didn’t sting when I zapped until I used it on level 5, it has levels 1-5. In hindsight after seeing more KZread reviews I wish I went with Ulike.

Hello! I have the Lumi RoseSkin one. It’s slightly different to the model you have on your video. I’m on my seventh week and it’s a MIRACLE. I’m using it on my legs, arms and armpits. It’s brilliant. If you read the manual, it clearly says you should shave first and, so far, I’m extremely happy with it!

Also, you flash the Venus Pro II (or a similar Jovs model) on your image of IPL devices that don't plug into the wall. But the Venus Pro II most definitely plugs into the wall. It doesn't work without doing so.

I've been using the purple Ulike one and think it's brilliant! I got my for Christmas and haven't zapped my legs in nearly two weeks (meant to do it last weekend but didn't get to it), haven't shaved since the weekend and the hair is barely growing so it's working pretty well there. My bikini line is slower on the uptake and I'm still doing it generally twice a week but even then my skin doesn't get nearly as irritated any more from shaving which is great to see. Plus, with that sapphire tech I don't feel anything - though once or twice I caught a sunspot and that stung a little but normally this doesn't happen. I've gone over other sunspots without issue so not sure what happened there. Either way find this much preferable to waxing

how have your results continued? when did you start seeing real hair reduction instead of just slightly slowed growth? im using 3x week, zapping 3x each spot and doing bikini, legs, and pits, and i see some slower growth on legs (nothing amazing, plus kegs have become bumpier, not smoother in texture) but my inner thighs/bikini seem to be responding by creating these tiny little black dead hair follicles that i can squeeze out. they look like tiny pepper flakes. anyway just not sure what to expect long term, results seem really mixed at the moment

I have the braun silk expert pro 5. I used it for the prescribed duration then got somewhat lazy with the monthly maintenance. I have started using it again now every week on the face, and alternating week on arms and legs. This is because I had much slower growth on arms and legs and have stubborn hair on my face. So I am going to stick with it for a second full session and see how it goes. I do want to get the glasses to protect my eyes. This one does not come with one and I have no idea where to start the research and which one to buy. If anyone knows please let me know :(

I'm using the Silk'n Infinite, it seemed good after readong reviews and checking what I can get in my country. I recently did the 2nd treatment, so no clear results yet. I'm using it on my legs+arms (dark blonde hair) and my bikini zone + armpits (dark brown hair) and I'm very white/pale with a litzle tan left over from my SA-vacation (waited 4 weeks before I started treatment). I use full power everywhere except the very sensitive area in my bikini zone. There it's on 4/5. It gets warm, but I had no burns and no redness. I followed the instructions and tested each area first going from low to high and going one down if it was painful. I am VERY interested to see if it works on the lighter hair (I can see them when they grow longer) have bo hopes, but hey it doesn't hurt to try it

@Cassandra Bankson, so I have a pair of these goggles that came with a blue light skin care device, would I be able to use them with an in-home IPL device, if per se, the brand doesn't market their goggle/protective eyewear in a bundle with the IPL device. As well, I have used both the OG SIlkn' device that resembled a pricing gun, and one of the early iterations of their Flash n' Go until.

I used the NOOD first and found it fairly effective but not long lasting. I purchased the latest ULIKE 10 recently ($100 discount) and I am already seeing results including the more difficult hairs. I like the cooling technology and am anxious to see if it will provide long term results. The NOOD is still working so I'm passing it off to my teenage daughter. I like that the ULIKE came with protective glasses designed for the IPL light. Not waxing or tweezing before has been key. Not an advertisement, just what I've tried so far. I wish the ULIKE had more detailed instructions on the different levels.. but it's good so far.

I have been using the Ulike (thanks to your recommendation!) for ~6 weeks now and have seen a huge decrease in my hair growth and ingrowns which was a big reason why I wanted to try IPL. I use it from upper lip to toes.

I had professional laser hair removal done on my full legs (8 sessions) and it worked great, lasted a few years. I’m not sure if it was my weight gain or if it had just been too long since my last treatment, but a lot of the hair came back. Still not as dense as it used to be, maybe 70% of that. So I think you may need to keep doing it fairly routinely to keep the results

I have the Philips Prestige IPL thingy. Been using it for a Couple of months and I'm pretty happy with it!

So are you planning on checking out the new Ulike Air 10 to compare it to your other devices you use? It’s so advanced it’s making me want to buy it but I wondered if you heard anything about it yet!

Thanks for the info! When you mentioned at the end that you need to use SPF with IPL, did you mean to apply it and then do the treatment or to apply it after the treatment is complete?

I've been looking into this for my blonde beard and mustache lol. You mentioned light hair on fair skin would be difficult, would tinting my facial hair help ? Also does it effect tattoos at all? TIA ♡

I'm using the device from Braun. It's reduced the amount of hair but not as drastically as expected. So I'd be intersted to see if it's just not good of if it's because of my hair colour and skin tone.

I did a laser treatment in doctor’s office in 2005, he burnt my groin area, did 6 treatments, he recommended 10 and re-treatment every year… my hair was thinner, but I would say I kept 50% of my “felt” 😅

Ive had it done professionally on my upper lip and was told/warned that the hair would probably grow back in fases of hormonal change like pregnancy and menopause. Also, back then (about 10 years ago) I was told home-devices were not powerful enough and it would be a waste of my money, which has always kept me skeptical of them. I did need double the amount of ipl-sessions than what was considered average for "definitive" hair removal, Ten years later i can confirm it has grown back more than I am comfortable with, and I am considering starting again with IPL. I remember the dermatologist had to set the machine according to my skintone- and was very precise about this, but haven't heard anything like that for the home versions which leaves me questioning. Would love to learn more about these differences. Best wishes

Thank you for all this information. The hair on the front of my legs is dark and obvious against my pale skin, but the hair on the back of my legs is very light and honestly I don't really notice it. It sounds like I might be able to use it on the hair on the front of my legs, but not on the back of my legs.

Me too. I think it's called the Philips Lumea. It looks like the "hairdryer" type one shown here, but it doesn't hurt or burn me at all. I have VERY pale skin and dark hair, and make sure the areas are REALLY smooth (shaving, not waxing or plucking! lol) before using.

I too, am interested in the Jovs Blackened Pro, for my face to tighten & lighten. But I'm on the fence.

My hair is so resilient. I used the Kenzzi for a year and saw a 50% reduction in hair growth and a slight reduction in density on my arms and legs but nothing in the other areas. Then, I decided to go for professional treatment and got 6 sessions done. I still had hair but I only paid for the 6 sessions so I waited till I got more money and then paid for 7 more sessions a few months later. I'm on session 4 now and I still have quite a bit of hair but its definitely getting there. Some clinics will do in-clinic IPL instead of laser but I did the proper laser hair removal. Another really annoying thing is that my armpits still have hair even though I hardly had hair there to begin with. My armpits are the lightest part of my body and I have pale skin everywhere and dark hair. The Kenzzi was also pretty painful downstairs and I would rate it pretty much on par with in-clinic laser. I would still suggest trying at-home IPL treatments because they'll work for most people. Even if you do an in-clinic laser, it doesn't get rid of the hair forever and yearly maintenance treatments are suggested so buying this device can keep you hairless forever.

I feel like another thing people don't talk about is that even after successful treatments, the hair can start growing back over time, especially after drastic hormonal changes such as after child birth. I got laser hair removal years ago. Did 12 treatments and was extremely happy with the results, but a couple years later, I had a baby and some of my hair definitely came back. It's still way less hair than it used to be, but I might go ahead and do more laser treatments in the future

hi cassandra! do you think it’s safe to use the ulike ipl on the face and also use a retinol in the same week? i have pretty sensitive and dry skin.

PSA: DONT USE IPL OVER TATTOOS!!!! same with laser, but it can’t tell the difference between the pigment from your hair and the pigment from the tattoo and you’ll most likely get burned…

Lol, I used the Ulike Air 3 on a small tattoo just to see what would happen, and yeah, it did burn!

Absolutely!!! 👏 I used the gun like one she mentioned. I think it’s called the Tria, ages ago & got too close to a tatto on my ankle 😢 It pretty much erased/blurred the line. Almost like the artist was like yeah I don’t feel like connecting this part together. I’m glad it’s just one the one blip and I didn’t intend to do the section & knew to avoid it. I think my instructions said not to do tattoos but then again not everyone reads them…

I wonder if u can put painters tape or some other physical blocker over ut tattoo, JIC u get too close

I have the Philips lumea. I have very fair skin and dark hair. I found that it was like a stinging sensation like an elastic band flick, which for the legs was fine but the pits and bikini regions were *sensitive*. I didn't have visible burns from mine though.

I purchased the Ketch Beauty IPL device, but I need to be more consistent with using it. I wonder if you have tried this device, or could test it out? Thanks

I bought an Innza IPL with cooling tip on Amazon. It plugs into the wall and the cool tip is in fact cool. Seems to work at least as well as my Kenzzi.

Is it safe to use on razor burn skin thats been previously shaved? I shaved my bikini like but of course there is razorburn and now im.not sire if i should wait for it to heal and then try it or go ahead. Love these videos! I watched them before purchasing and it helped me decide which one to get!

i’ve used the green ulike and had good results but it did start to grow back because i wasn’t consistent with it and probably didn’t do my treatments enough. i’m planning to start treatments again before summer but even with what it did do it grows back so much less and slower which is nice since it reduced how many ingrowns i got since i didn’t have to shave constantly. i’d highly recommended it!!

I use the white ULIKE IPL and its amazing. I dont use it religiously but do see significant improvements. Hair grows back thin or not at all. I highly recommend it. I bought it using a coupon and its a great self care investment.

Thank you, great FYI video. I’m looking to get a hair remover but didn’t know what to get. Have you ever tried the Lumivyx IPL. I didn’t see a cord but it says it rechargeable & comes with glasses. I’d love to know what you think of it.

I bought the Diamond IPL, thinking it was the Kenzi. I had seen a few videos of a KZreadr (Kayley Melissa) using the Kanzi a few years back and having success with it. I saw the ad for the Diamond IPL device come up and I couldn't remember the name of the Kenzi at the time but it looked the same so I bought it. I've only used it a few times and not regularly or consistently enough to see results. It does get warm, so I can't stay on an area too long, and have had to shut it off for a few minutes to let it cool down when doing my legs (lots of surface area). They did include glasses and a cheap razor in the package, so that is good that they highlighted safety and the "don't wax or pluck before" part of the method. It would be interesting if you a) warned your viewers of look-alikes, and/or b) tried it out to see if it works

Hey! I am using FOREO PEACH 2 for a while. And seeing some results. Especially my upper leg. And literally no pain at all. Since the glass doesn't touch your skin at all. Definitely recommend it!

I’m using it too! I feel like the hair on my belly and legs are growing slower but the armpits and intimate area are still going strong, even after many treatments. 😢

Cassandra, I need you to review the lasers. Lyma x Nira or any other. Please 🙏 🙏 🙏 as soon as possible. Maybe just an introduction video and then one month of use following 3 months use, etc. I am really keen on buying one, the price differences are huge. I am 33, and I would like to prevent my face from sagging in the future. Maybe some wrinkles gone as well, but that is not so important to me as to improve my skin elasticity.

Hi cass, apparently, according to the philips lumea instructions, waxing is ok to do but you have to wait 24 hours before using their device?????

I've been using the Ulike for over a month and I'm liking it a lot, my only struggle are the ingrown hair, mine are like little dots, release all of them and then shave the area.. urgh I don't have the time.

You should try the Inia double pulse, it has a Sapphire Ice-cooling tip.

Guy here, I started doing IPL because I have really hairy arms so I started doing small amounts/sessions. I don’t want to completely get rid of my hair I just don’t want to be looking like big foot. My issue is I’ll do it, then patches grow in certain areas and not others and now I’m like well dang.

Hair has several growth stages but each hair follicle is in its individual stage (so not all hair is in the same growth stage at once, hence, the patches of hair and the need for multiple treatments). IPL is most effective on a hair follicle in the anagen (growth) stage.

Thanks for this video. I've been debating doing athome ipl for years, but I didn't trust reviews, they were too mixed. I think a combination of salon and athome sounds best. The ulike seems cool

I just bought the Silk’n. Finished my third treatment tonight. Haven’t noticed any difference yet but hopefully soon!

If doing HRT please be aware does cause hair growth again. I had clinic laser hair removal for the bikini area. It did well for a little while. I now do the home hair removal. Cheaper honestly. Thanks for the review and all the information.

Currentbody have just released a narrow diode hair removal device with a cooling system. Debating on whether to get this or the ulike. Hope you get to do a review if this soon.

I think I'm gonna save up for a device like this. I've used cream for so many yrs now but if this could stop the hair for good then great❤

I got my Kenzi for $100 on Black Friday

Im gonna say i bought the Remington iLight machine, way before it got popular i think. Im gonna say over 6-7 years ago. I got lazy and never used it. You have to replace the light cartage because it only has a certain amount of flashes. Do like that you have to scan your skin before the machine works, if you skin doesn’t pass it wont work.

I have the Braun one because it was sold at target and they have a great return policy if the product didn't work.

I bought the Silk’n Glide a few years ago and I am happy with it. I used it regularly in the beginning but have been inconsistent last year so my hair was greatly reduced on my legs. If I kept it up regularly until now, I would be hairless (or close to it). There is no cooling feature but I had no issues (no skin burns, overheating, or pigmentation issues). It worked on my legs, side burns, chin, arm pits. Only problem area is the moustache (I can treat the corners of my mouth but that’s it. I will have to find another IPL to target the moustache.)

I need advice! I got the ulike device on sale so I don’t have to worry every week about shaving my armpits and would also like to use it on my lower legs. My body hair is naturally blonde (naked to the eye) except on my lower legs because I used to pluck my blonde hair and it grew back darker, which is clearly visible to the eye. If I use the ulike device on my lower legs where the hair is dark and accidentally go over the blonde hair will it burn my skin, or just not do anything?
