Travis, Proform is doing what I thought is an excellent thing in which you can get some of their equipment for free but requires a 3 year iFit subscription. I think that is most fair. I think connected fitness companies should follow that trend. It's really hefty to buy their equipments, then pay a monthly subscription fee on top. Giving some months of free subscription helps with the burden in my opinion.

Good point. Companies like Peloton are all about the number of active subscribers and this would help move them in that direction. I imagine we will see a lot of change in the next few years. It is going to be interesting!
You make valid points that I wasn’t even taking into consideration! And I can now understand the subscription model. But I cannot understand the prices for the subscriptions. I donno if you play any video games but it’s like buying a call of duty game for example,the games what $60 or something, and any dlc is like $5-$10🤷♂️ (it’s been awhile since I’ve played cod) and then the game comes out with additional content with time. You’re purchasing the product and you can pay for any additional content when it becomes available, or you can simply not if it’s not something you’re into. Now if I had to pay a subscription of $75 a year to play that game and all additional content that comes with time and not even know what kind of content it will have or if it’s something I’d be into, I just couldn’t justify that subscription. Especially if I’d like to use one of these products for potentially years. And what if the company is greedy and just wants to milk you for every last dollar and then give you a plate of steamy crap. You’d feel like you were just suckered. But that’s just me. I did enjoy you’re perspective on the topic though it did open my mind to the idea. And if you do read this I’m sorry for how long this is and hope you’re having a good one man!

We are on the same page! I am okay with the subscription model for the reasons discussed, but I don't agree with the pricing for a lot of them. These companies need to figure out how to offer an amazing service but at price that works for consumers. I think a lot of these companies are startups with only one product trying to make it work. My hope is that with time, they are able to offer the great products and services they do but at a much more affordable number. You have a good one as well!
Get the bike, take it home, use it twice, never use it again. Pay a subscription and you are motivated to do something with it.

Some people do that and it unfortunately does not work out. Some people, enjoy the content, features, history, and other services so much that they reach health goals because of what the subscription provides.

Peter if that is true then so many people wouldn't be selling their bikes after the country reopened from the pandemic
