Thank you for such a raw, heartfelt reaction. I had almost an identical reaction when I first heard this song. It could have been written about my family. I am not complaining about the way I was raised, but in retrospect, it was definitely dysfunctional. I am the youngest of three boys. My middle brother and I have reconnected over the years on a much healthier level and when I sent him this song, he "Face-timed" me and we watched it together. It was the first time I've ever seen him cry. Wonderful reaction.

I love Home Free's version of this beautiful song. They really brought out the emotion of it. Tim's lead is amazing with his deep bass. Also love Rob & Chance's solos plus the great harmonies. And Adam is tasteful in making the simple sound of pounding his chest & thigh. I believe we can change our course in life. We don't have to make the same mistakes as our parents. We can choose to rise above it.

For each person who listens, the lyrics are very personal. For me it harkens to mental illness and the swath of pain it leaves in its wake. They present it so compassionately.

I have watched this video a dozen times and it a wasn't until tonight that I remembered what my Mom use to say when I was upset about something "It will come out in the wash or it will leave a stain. That's up to you." In other words it's not worth the worry and it you let it, then whatever it is will stain your life. I'm 73 and there are stains. Things I thought were too "REAL" to let go of. Now they mean nothing. But the stain is still there. Wish I had listened harder to her.

The song was already beautiful and very well sung by John Mayer, but Home Free has made it its own while keeping the respect of the original. It touches you deep in your heart and soul. For me especially the voice of Rob.

You'd mentioned previously that you hoped they'd do a cover of "In the Blood". I'm glad you weren't disappointed. One of the (many) things I love about Home Free is their ability to vocally express the emotional context of a song. Many of their videos are in very simple settings (such as "Brothers in Arms" and "End of the Road") which just let the music speak for itself. If you haven't watched any of their live videos, try "Mayday (Live)" and "9-5 beatboxing breakdown" - I think you'll be surprised. Thank you for playing this, your comments and reactions!

You should watch a live concert version to see these guys as live entertainers too. It will give you a greater appreciation of their talents without all the perfect production of the studios. My personal favorite was a version of How Great Thou Art they did during a thunderstorm. It was a scary midwestern storm and they were singing one song for their fans live without mikes, speakers, etc. It was amazing to experience.

This song gives us hope, that's why it's beautiful. It reminds us that we have the power of self evaluation and choice. We are unique, we have free will. We are not pre-destined, we live, we learn, we love. No one can do that for us.

I really got the impression that you saw your own life in this song. Take heart and know that no family is perect like on TV. We all have problems, we all have disagreements with siblings or other family memebers. You have to learn from their mistakes and decide what is best for you , who you want to be and be remembered.. Draw on your own strength and character and strive to be that person. May the good Lord Bless you and assist you in your endeavors .New sub here

Everything Home Free touches turns to gold. There isn't anything they can't sing and not do it well. They've hit another home run. The way they convey emotion is next level. Even tho' this is about a sad situation, there's something hopeful in the way it comes across with their interpretation. I think it's because they are very down to earth, positive, and genuine people. I can't even tell you how many times they've hit me in the feels with their music. Love this cover. Love Home Free.

I was noting how well you were expressing your thoughts about this and then you said the "relatability of it - it's this beautiful ugly thing" and that was a perfect description. I appreciate your views. The first time I saw this I became a sobbing mess of nerves that followed me for days. Wasn't able to watch it again for a couple years just because it is this beautiful ugly thing. It does draw one into reflection . . . and brings some things into focus.

Understated. Stripped down. Those of us who Work and Strive to break the generational sin in our families have to be able to strip down our pain to ask the questions in this song. I feel you. I had tonwalk that path because I wanted my family to be different, healthy and never experience my experiences. In a way, this song also gave me hope and the realization that I was Able to break the cycle by the Grace of God. Your honesty made me subscribe. You shared. Thank you...from the bottom of my heart

Thanks for the reaction!! Just subbed. We are all on this great Home Free journey together. We are super loyal fans. Been to 6 live shows, #7 coming in Sept here in Portland, OR. Cannot wait! You cannot believe them live -- hilarious, like stand-up comedy show with super talent! I love this song. There is so much in the lyrics that John M said about family dynamics. Hits hard some of it. But always love the way the guys do a song!!! This is special. Thanks and take care.

You've earned my sub! Now, I watched End of the Road reaction --- thought you'd said something else ....... but I did revisit and re-watched and listened closer; I heard wrong, so I "Liked" .... and watched the other HF (and the one VP!). For me, the HFs have been an upgrade (but that's me). Comparisons between groups? That is normal at 1st --- but you'll figure it out. One thing you have witnessed with this group ---> Different Genres! Even a few ya haven't heard but that will happen in time. Now --- This song! It's the way ya take it. Past or History (even current)... but I take it as finding oneself. If history or current situation is not favorable ... it's NOT destiny! Only you have the power to change it --- it's CHOICE!!! OK -- LOL, enough of the "high horse" stuff ......... till the next Be Safe

Thank you, and I looked at that way, and the human aspect for me is is the doubt. Like I know it’s choice, but the doubt of it may be a fight I lose. Check out a song by Royce da 5’9” called outside, the second verse he’s talking to his son who was going to college and his fear as a father and recovering alcoholic. It’s a very emotional song especially with a person dealing with addiction. It’s the constant fight, fear, and choices (advising his son about making better choice cus what could be in the blood). It’s a good listen

Dysfunctional families are everywhere; I know that God's love ❤️ helped me not to repeat those same mistakes. I made other ones like any parent does, but put an end to those repeated deadly generational or habitual traps. I look at the blood and water in this song as Christ's sacrifice and being welcomed into His family now and for eternity.
