Boyz II Men already did their version--why would anyone need to do it exactly that way again? Home Free is doing a cover--and paying homage to--the original, but making it their own. I think a lot of people would lose respect for them if they tried to "be" B2M. As far as I'm concerned all of the Home Free guys "emote" through their music/videos better than just about anyone else out there--and in this one Rob showcases his gospel/R&B genius in a way that seems to surprise everyone ❣️❣️❣️

I wasn’t saying doing it exactly, I was more so talking about capturing the essence. Me saying do a five part harmony was me saying I would’ve wanted to see that homage to the traditional a cappella groups. And I’m only saying that as something that would’ve been more perfect for me, some people don’t know the traditional a cappella without beatbox and it wouldn’t make a difference to them. I love this rendition tho, it’s one of the best I’ve seen

@@L8bloomer_Audi Evidently you didn't notice the harmonies change at the end when the vocal drums stopped. I'm partially deaf so I listen closely but also watch closely. When Adam stops doing vocal drums he starts harmonizing. You can tell when he's joined the harmonies because he stops moving. 99% of the time when he's singing he doesn't move or barely moves almost as if he doesn't want to draw attention to himself. If you do more reactions...when the music stops but the singing doesn't look at Adam and listen for the change in harmonies.

@Bryan Huff Because that would’ve been a nod to the “the new jack swing” era. Against it wouldn’t matter to anyone who wasn’t a part of that era, but to people who grew up in it, it would’ve been a nostalgic reference. The performance is amazing, I’m just sayin it would’ve been phenomenal for me, Like seeing Tobias Funke as a blue man in infinity war. It means nothing to someone who hasn’t seen arrested development, but it’s icing on the cake for the people who have seen it

"When a Man Loves a Woman" is another fantastic song. The "Butts Remix" is a cool song and shows their funny side. Also "Blue Ain't Your Color" is a country song sung with a Motown vibe. Another genre for you...

They actually do songs without beatboxing, usually when they're doing a serious song like a gospel number. How great thou art, Go rest high on that mountain, Amazing Grace, Brothers in Arms, etc.

Country Fried Pop Medley is a great Home Free mashup that covers several pop song by several artists. They also took a country song and turned it into a 50's vibe with a cover of Keith Urban's song Blue Ain't Your Color.

This is my favorite version of the song! The fact that Adam is beetboxing makes it. Other bands get to use instruments to supplement. Home Free doesn't need it to make great music even better!

These guys do an amazing job of this song! They can do any genre including R&B. Rob's voice has so much feeling & soul in it. Austin adding his higher tones, Chance harmonizing in the back, Tim adding some bass & Adam with his fabulous vocal percussion. These guys are my favorite a cappella group out there. All their songs are good whether it is serious, heart warming or funny. Maybe check out their funny side with the "The Butts Remix".

I'm 64 (old generation) Boys II Men and everybody else just didn't have a beatboxer. It was from the streets standing around burning trashcan harmony

This was the first song I listened to and it was hooked. I just recently saw them in concert and it was was AMAZING.

These guys have the best harmonies and beatboxer IMO they are humble and very likeable have a great humor side to enjoy try CANT STOP THIS FEELING. LOVE TRAIN. FOLSOM PRISON BLUES so many

When Home Free was on the Sing Off (they won in 2013) Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men was a judge and he loved them. I think they wanted to do right by him. Rob (lead here) killed it. HF is a little more country but sing all genres and all can sing and take the lead depending on the song. If you want to hear Tim (the bass) go lower try Brothers in Arms. If you like the blues try Blue Ain’t Your Color. If you like harmonies try Helplessly Hoping. They don’t mind being silly either. Butts Medley is so much fun. Depends what you like. The beatboxer is crazy good.

Home Free doesn't do covers. They do upgrades. And when they collaborate with the original artist (like they did with Don McLean, The Oak Ridge Boys, Kenny Rogers, and Lee Greenwood) they border on the supernatural. They have a way of making the original artist/s sound even better. It's like discovering them all over again. Your next listen should be Butts Remix. If you want doo wop, listen to Tim's mashup of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay.

Home Free killin' it yet again. The talent within this group of guys is astounding. They could cover the dictionary and turn it gold. The best musical group out there as far as I'm concerned. Gotta disagree, Adam's beat boxing adds so much to it. Much better with than without. Old is old.

Butts Remix is a great bend of rock, country and hiphop songs but it is also a great way to see their humor, which is part of why people love them. But the one that would blow you away is is "When A Man Loves A Woman" So...take your pick!

I know one of them thought about doing all black denim with the sunglasses (cus I hear they do have a great sense of humor), and I would’ve died if they did. I understand 'cause I was around when BoysIIMen was in their heyday too. However, if they were to try and do it exactly like them, people would be upset that they were trying to copycat. Home Free does homage to original sounds but makes it their own. The next one you should do is "When a Man Loves a Woman" or "Brothers in Arms".

I said this in another comment, they paid respect without being a carbon copy. I think the sound was amazing, but from what I hear about them they have a sense great sense of humor, I think a visual nod as far as taking it back to the new jack era with the sunglasses or all black, would’ve sent me over the edge. I know they did it with the denim, but i would’ve died if it was all black denim. But I really loved this version.

I am from the old generation. I used to listen to this Boyz II Men song so many times. Home Free puts its own twist on it while keeping the respect for the original, so now it's the turn of this version. Rob killed it. There is so much soul and emotion in his voice. Beautiful!!! But I know that without the other members it would never have sounded so perfect. But that is precisely what Home Free is the number 1 A-Cappella group for me. One by one, everyone has an important contribution. Everyone has their own specialty. And then the glue of the group Adam with his unbelievably inhuman beatboxing/vocal percussion/mouth sounds. Although it is of course even if it is a song without beatboxing it sounds great because of the great background vocals.

@@L8bloomer_Audi I think that almost every cover but also an original will get you over the line to become a real Home Fry. "Butts Mix" is very good. "When a Man Loves a Woman" will perhaps also demonstrate what I put down here earlier, that although it may be one that nailed it, but just makes it sound perfect by the combination of the backgrounds, harmonies, bass and beatboxing of the others. Brother in Arms is also such a song. But there is simply too much to list . Whatever the strength of Home Free is that they have no egos, they look which song fits which voice(s), no rivalry, real brotherhood, the fun they have in front of and behind the cameras and then also are great personalities.

I did not listen to Boys to Men when they were their most popular. I did, however, watch the music video of this song on YT that had 229 million views. B2M had a full backing band (or recording...could have been either). They had drums, they had a keyboard, they had a bass and probably more...they weren't just singing on a street corner by themselves with doo-wops carrying the melody. Adam Rupp was the drums. Tim Faust was the bass...he was singing words, but the melody was following the bass line. The members of Home Free who weren't singing the lead at the time were making up for the keyboard. They did a great job on this song.

@@lberry750 I'm not saying B2M is an acapella group, I said they do it. They do acapella throughout their whole career, you can find old videos. Even the rnb music they did is heavily influenced by acapella even this song (they do this song acapella too). And when they do this song, its more of the tradtional acapella. which is why they had so much reverance and respect on "sing off" (im starting my research on them and pentatonix). They did a phenomenal job and I refuse to say otherwise, for this song I'm only saying what would've sent me over the edge with enjoyment. Remember I'm coming in clean in this area of acapella

Some of their best: God Bless the USA with Lee Greenwood and the AF Band, Go Rest High on That Mountain (The Video), When a Man Loves a Woman, How Great Thou Art, One Man Band, Ain't Going Down Till the Sun Comes Up, Hillbilly Bone (Deep country but bad@$$) and Mayday (Technically genius, wait to watch until you know them). If you want Boys to Men then listen to them. Shawn Stockton loved Home Frees version of this song. They always do their version of the song, not just copy someone else’s song. Just because they aren’t “black” which you brought up with the sunglasses comment doesn’t mean they can’t compete with the original. You need to broaden your horizons and not limit yourself!

As an old generation person - I like how HF arranged this. It sounds cleaner to me. Now I still have the OG on my playlist but I really like this version too. I don't want to say you were overcritical (I hate it when people do that to me) and I think you liked it. But some of the critique just didn't make sense.
