    I see a lot of people asking why are you doing this to your body, but as an artist and a ex dancer, I know how it feels to WANT to learn something so bad that you train everyday and the process to that is painful, your body is not used to that and that's why it hurts, but if you don't, you'll always ask yourself the "what if". I admire your braveness and you will to perfom this. It's amazing.

    I cry every time I watch this video. Last year I was hospitalised for and eating disorder and the road to recovery has been a physical and mental battle every day. Seeing someone who I look up to, someone who I’ve listed to since I was seven, tell me I’m braver than I know while watching her overcome her own demons means so much to me. Lindsey I love you and I hope you know how healing your music has been for me.

    It breaks my heart people in the comments don't see the beauty in this, and question the why. This is one of the few extended looks into what this woman does to prepare for her art. The sacrifices, the challenges she overcomes, that what she does in every one of her videos is a lot harder and more taxing than we think. One of the few people on earth that can play this beautifully, of the even fewer that can play while dancing, one of the few that can now say she can play and dance suspended by her hair. All of that and she made herself vulnerable to share it all with us. This is beautiful. This is inspiring.

That's like stopping to work out because lifting a dumbbell hurts.. or don't go for a run to train for a marathon, because it hurts... Don't learn anything new... don't get out of your comfort-zone, ever, period! Lindsey, you are incredible and truly an inspiration. I struggle with anxiety and depression and I can’t even sit down to write the stories I am dying to without doubt and nervous reactions, whether I will ever publish or not. But seeing you struggle through your training and crying each time you just pull up to the “gym” or whatnot, it has given me comfort and strength in knowing that you are right: I can do hard things, because I have done them before. I am strong and I can overcome. To the “why would someone even want to do this if it hurts so much?” That is human nature, and the pain is just one of the kinds of costs we pay to achieve something new or grand. A ballerina destroys their feet to dance as gracefully as they do, bodybuilders undergo training and intense restrictions to enhance their body’s strength, even musicians and artists give up countless hours and dedicated brain power to hone their crafts. Everyone that strives for excellence or for their goal or, in this case, vision, has to sacrifice. Yes it hurts, but she is okay and if there was that much risk why would anyone do it? Yea there are less painful, more conventional ways to hang, but this is unique and practical for violin playing and full movement for dance. So if that’s the case, why not learn this? It looks pretty amazing, btw

    From seeing the comments, I got to say, nothing wrong with either giving up something if you can't physically and/or mentally handle something. Some things just aren't for some people. BUT there's nothing wrong with working through things like this either. Some people are like "why should she put herself through this if it hurts?" Well ask that to all the other professionals who've learned this or heck, people from Cirque Du Soleil. None of them was just born with the pain tolerance, they had to learn it. It's definitely no walk in the park, but it CAN be done.

    this is not true, some people have higher pain tolerance then others. also this isn't something you normally just start doing. as someone who is new will ofc feel far more pain then someone who is use to it. any extra weight makes it that much more painful. if you looked up the act, it still HURTS even the professionals who have been doing it most of their life.

  • @KateandBree

    @KateandBree

    I’m a disabled athlete and there’s one thing I learned from attending a symposium from someone who trains Olympians: there’s a difference between growing pain (as in you’re gaining strength) and literal pain. If you’re shaking, sore, fatigued, burning or your muscles are swollen, these are normal when you are training. If you experience - at any time during training - a sudden intense, sharp pain that makes you gasp and is only relieved when you stop, that’s your body telling you to stop. No more. Doing it more is a detriment to your body. You can ruin your joints that is only shown in the future. She could have done herself a real disservice by not listening to her body.

I feel for people with broken hearts, hurting souls, and I feel for people who hurt others (and who disgustingly call Lindsey's music "violent", which could hurt her soul). I cry over Hallmark movies, and the pain it takes to bring a baby into the world--self inflicted, I guess, since, unless it was the result of violence, it was with consent that the baby is gonna hurt when it comes.....yup. I cry for many many things and people, but I do not cry for you. You wrote your reply so fast, I think you are trying to justify your cold heart. Exactly! If I only saw the one clip of Lindsey hanging in the air during practice and celebrating that she did it, I never would've fully understood how insanely difficult it was physically and mentally to not only train herself to do this but get through the pain and not falter during the performance. I loved that she was blunt about it, showing just how difficult this was

    I completely agree. I watched her performance before I watched this video and I felt like she was unhappy through the whole shoot. The joy she usually exhibits was gone. I know they say an artist should be willing to suffer for their art but only if it adds to the art somehow. This one made me sad, and now that I've seen this vlog it makes me even sadder, and concerned that she's ok. She could very well have injured herself badly, especially practicing alone.

    That is the truth, it doesn't matter how many times we fail. No, what really matters is never giving in to our failures and giving up. We never truly fail until we give up, if we push through and continue to overcome every challenge in life we grow stronger. This not only applies to our lives but also our Spiritual life with God. Our Lord will test us, and getting back up and overcoming all the trials put before us helps us grow stronger as Christians and only strengthens our relationship with God.

    That isn't the same thing at all. There is tremendous catharsis through pain though. If you can bury a best friend and a parent you'd be surprised how much you can endure and how much testing yourself can help you get over something. Athletes go through this too. Think about boxers or MMA fighters. Think about soldiers. Think about a doctor trying to save a patient for hours on end straight. How people choose to inflict pain on themselves to test themselves and make themselves stronger is how humans are wired. Whenever you go to a gym you are ripping your muscles up - it is when they HEAL that you become stronger. This is no different.

    To push yourself to the limit is what made humanity what it is today. People never needed to create anything besides shelter and weapons to hunt their food, but here we are. She wants to push herself so she can make something beautiful for her and she will. People dont need to skydive, they dont need to walk on a rope above a 1000 meter pit, they dont need to race in F1 cars with 400km/h, they dont need to fight in an MMA ring, but they do. It is pushing yourself and your body to the limits.

Felicidades Lindsey!!!
