I am 8 years late to the party but have heard so much about this I just have to give it a try and add it to my pantry stock. Thank you
Love your Sweet Onion Jam. I bought 50 lbs of Vidalia Onions this year and they where HOT. To hot to eat raw and when I found your recipe for Sweet Onion Jam I knew I had to try it. Let me tell you it was wonderful. So for I have made 2 batches in 1/2 pints, the next batch will be in Pints, the stuff is soooo good we eat it all the time and 1/2 pints just don't last long enough. It is great on hot dogs, hamburgers, just about anything you want to put it on. Thanks Linda for saving 50 lbs. of Vidalia Onions.
I LOVE this recipe Linda.. What a killer way to use up an abundance of onions. I sometimes come across 50 lb bags of onions for free, and this is the perfect way to make sure none go to waste.. Thanks for the recipe and tips! Cheers!
I made this and it was fantastic. My hubby said it was the best meat loaf he had ever ate. I also ordered the chop wizard. I don't know how I ever lived without it.
add a chopped granny smith apple for the pectin and leave out the last half cup brown sugar
Made this over the weekend and now my hubby is addicted to it. Awesome recipe. Thanks Linda!
I am making this Sweet Onion Jam right now. Just waiting for the onions to caramelize and watching the video again, just to be sure I have everything ready to go!

Made this today and if was fabulous!!! I used red onions instead of white or yellow but that's just a personal preference. I also cut the onions too fine - lessoned learned to make them pretty chunky the next time. Great simple recipe!!! Thanks Linda!
I can not wait to make this! goodness in a jar! thanks so much for sharing this recipe!
Bless you again!!! I can't wait to try this!! I'm being inspired again!
This looks wonderful! I will be making some for sure. I can see it being a great Christmas gift this year. Thanks for all your wonderful videos. We love them!

This is as great as you said. Thank you for such a great idea.
Great video Linda. Canning is something I would like to learn and this recipe looks like a great one to start with. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing. Homestead Tessie showed your recipe. Great gift idea. Thanks
Have 6 minutes left in the water bath canner. Can't wait to try this.
I just made sweet onion jam! I love it! It tastes so good. Thanks for the video. 😋
This is a great recipe. I made it exactly as you instructed. I got 8 half pint jars out of it. It is SO good... I scraped the last bit out of my electric skillet, and ate it, off of the spoon. I can see why your hubby goes through a pint, in a couple of days. In addition, I bought the Vidalia onion chopper, to use with this. I could kick myself in the hiney, for not having bought it, when they first came out. My Pampered Chef chopper, probably won't see the light of day, going forward!!
I went to BJs restaurant last saturday and had their balsamic chicken. It was so good I had to come home and make this recipe. It tastes just like it AMAZING, thank you so much I can now make this at home
I make a similar recipe that has less sugar but also has port wine in it. Absolutely delicious. Tx for sharing. Greetings from Montreal!
I've watched this video sooooo many times!! I really need to actually make it!
Yea, Homestead Tessie said come say hi. It's a great recipe! I'm going to try it since it can be water bath canned. Thank you!

I canned sweet onion jam....today , and yes it taste a amazing my hubby loves it too... thanks for sharing
I love this, I canned some and I'm down to one jar, so it's time to make some more. This was the first thing I ever canned, well to tell the truth it's the only thing I've canned. I'm making me some more, plus I'm going to try my luck at making Strawberry jam and Blackberry Jam. I bought me some more canning jars today, so tomorrow I'm going to have me a Jamming good time. lol Love all of your videos.
Hi Linda...I'm so happy I found you! I'm going out tomorrow morning to get ingredients for your beans and corn bread, and I just watched your onion jam! Yummo! I'll be making that, too! Thank you!
Looks great.
Ooooh! I can’t wait to try this. I absolutely love cooked onions & I love brown sugar sauces. The 2 flavors together must be awesome. Keep the good recipes coming.
My husband loves this video.
I made this a year ago, and have 1 jar left! It is so good!
I made a batch tonight. I used two smaller pans to make a full batch. Every can sealed - pop- right after it got out of the water bath. I can't wait to use it. Thank you for the video.
Hi there! I just wanted to say that I made this recently and it's to die for! I gave it out today at work as Christmas gifts. Thank you for sharing your recipe. Wishing you a fantastic Christmas holiday.
this sounds so good. My two loves are garlic and onions. Here in Canada we also make chow chow. This is a great use of green tomatoes and onions and can be used as a relish on anything from cheese sandwiches to a side dish with a roast. I will be trying your recipe. Keep up the great work
Thanks Linda for this video. I was watching Homestead Tessie who made this and gave you all the credit. I hope to make this this fall if our onions do better this year than last.
oooo I am so excited to make this. I made the honey onions from the ball canning book and they are amazing. I put them in my stew and what ever else. So I am really looking foreword to making this as well. I am thinking it would be amazing on a burger. Thanks for sharing
I am going to try this thank you for sharing.
Homestead Tessie reminded me of your sweet onion jam. I will definitely be making this as soon as I can get some onions on sale. Thanks so much!
Looks awesome I came over from Homestead Tessie's channel I am just starting out with canning on a much smaller scale this really looks great.

Tessie sent us over. This looks so great and would be a wonderful base for french onion soup. Thanks for sharing.
OMG I am so giddy knowing I will be making this on the week end. And it's something our family vegetarians can enjoy in so many many ways. Thank you Linda so much for doing this recipe so fast after some of us asked for it.

So happy you mentioned the vegetarian comment. I always intend to go all out for our celebrations but time restraints as they are, our vegan ends up with a sweet potato. :( this allows me can some ahead of time to gift to her!

mrshammerhankus We have vegans and vegetarians in our family and circle of friends, and I am vegetarian and we live this on a baked potato of any kind, as well as on a toasted French baguette, and on top of a vegetable gratin where we take equal amounts of sliced carrots, parsnips, turnips, rutabaga and red potato which we layer and then drizzle butter over and then bake. The onion jam is like frosting on a cake. We love it on homemade veggie burgers, and even on scrambled or sunny side up eggs.

Beth, we eat A LOT of vegetarian meals here. Have you tried this on roasted or grilled veggies like eggplant, zucchini, etc? Seems that would be an excellent accompaniment.

FarmbyGardens We are more vegan and LOVE this on baked, mashed potato, as well as cubed and sautéed extra firm tofu. And then our son loved it on a piece of sliced toasted garlic bread when I make my hearty artesian breads. But it was when we tried some on a bed of roasted red/yellow/orange bell peppers, roasted eggplant, and roasted garlic on Lundberg's wild rice blend that Linda's onion melody became a weekly meal.

+Beth Grant-DeRoos I knew it! LoL Thanks so much. I'm going to make this in the next few days and put it a ton of veggie meals. THANKS!
Looks amazing!
Here's a thought/suggestion that I will try when I do this....Salt draws out liquid, so perhaps cook the onions until carmelized before adding the salt. I think they might get color faster. Looks so good I can almost smell it! ♥
That looks fantastic! I must give this one a go. Love your videos :)
Linda, love this and it was a hit selling at farmers market! And you’re right, not many knew of it. I’m also in a smaller rural town, but I gave samples and they sold themselves!!! ❤️ ya, Kristy in Missouri 😃🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Wow....this looks amazing! Linda, pls. give us a list of what your hubby like to use this on specifically so we can include it on the tag for gift giving! Love your channel!
I am new canning and dehydrating food and your site has been very helpful and I am going to try your recipe it looks very good thank you
In the pot now!!! Smells delicious 😋
Yummmy, i made this and also added roasted garlic, cracked black pepper, and wine to it..(pink zin and pinot noir)..my husband is drooling and going crazy😂😂
OH MY GOOODNESS LINDA, I made this last night and it came out AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS!!!! Wow!!! I mixed it into my turkey meatballs to give it a sweetness and my Husband LOVED IT. Thank you SO much for this recipe~ this sure is one that I'll treasure and make often because its that good.

I am just about to put into the jars and place in the canner. Taste awesome thanks
good recipe. i'm definitely using this one
Made 2 batches yesterday. All 14. Pints sealed yaay. Sooo good
That sounds so good. I'll be making this for sure. Big bag of sweet onions will be the second thing I buy. The first will be a chopper! No way I'm cutting all those with just a knife. lol
Tessie, sent me over, I am already subscribed to your channel, but haven't gone back this many years on your page. Thanks Homestead Tessie, can't wait to try this
This is my most favorite recipe you make. I make it often. We love it!!! When I make it I watch your video hahaha like we are in the kitchen cooking together 😂😁
I made this onion jam a while back and LOVE it! I just had some with some leftover pot roast! Yum! I've been canning all day and having this in the fridge ready to go was a blessing! Thanks again for sharing this recipe
I make a burger using onion jam and people love it! I put a pattie topped with cheddar cheese, 2 strips of bacon, onion jam, the second pattie, another slice of cheddar 2 more strips of bacon topped with smached avocado and top bun.

Love your channel. If you stir less they will caramelize faster and not sweat so much
this looks so good, i'll just have to make up a small batch tomorrow to go with dinner just to try it out

i made a small batch, i love onions, i made it with apple cider vinegar, and it's so good, but i think for myself, i'd cut back on the sugar a bit, it's good though
I love this recipe...great on Pulled Pork Sandwiches
They look yummy I'm going to make me some
Made this today and must say my kitchen smells incredible. I decided to remove some of my liquid by way of using a slotted spoon when filling my jars. (I did reduce the liquid prior to this, but found I still had too much). Too much?? Nonsense. I canned a small jar of this fabulous nectar to use as a 'bar-b-que' sauce for our burgers.....this, I hope, will compliment the sweet onion jam. PS - thank you for all your pressure canning videos. Because of you, I pressure canned with confidence for the first time last week. Everything went smoothly.
That looks really good Linda. I am going to try your recipe, all I need now is a chopper :)
Love this idea! Would love some ideas for use with the canning items, beyond the obvious...
Made this yesterday. It is delicious! I used all sweet Onions. One tip..... Large shallow pan versus a deeper pan. I used my LC and it took forever and I ended up using the Clear Jel. Still delicious but would have taken way less time.
I have a double batch of your sweet onion jam in the water bath canner right now. I broke the onion chopper after 32 cups. Darn. I will have to get a new one. I sure do love this recipe.
Hey just came over from Homestead Tessie's channel she's just made your recipe and it looked really good
I'm trying it now Linda... 7/25/2020😁
Looks so yummy. I'm going to make some of this jam and can some of it. The other day at whole foods I bought some pickled sweet onion dip to put on flatbread. Albeit if I mixed some of jam with some sour cream it would taste about the same. I'm gunna try it out and see.
Thank you I make is so good
⚘ Delicious... Thank You 🤸🏽♀️
