Holosun 507k. A better option than the Hex Wasp for my Hellcat Pro.

In this video, I give my personal reasons for picking the Holosun 507k x2 for my Hellcat Pro, as well as Canik TP9 Elite SC. The red dot used in this video was ordered from K5 Firearms training. k5firearmstrai...

The trick to finding the dot with pistol optic is counter to a rifle. With a pistol, you gotta start with good fundamentals. Put the gun in center of your chest and push straight out. The iron sights should be lined up. If you are slightly off you can loose the dot. To avoid shooting stars (dot streaking across the glass) move your head to find the dot and keep the gun straight. Keep practicing the fundamentals and groove in a consistent and repeatable draw and aim. It will feel wrong at first but trust it. Then all of a sudden it will click and you’ll be like wow. It’s right there. Practice drawing and aiming at a light switch or photo on the wall. Once it clicks it will instantly be far easier and a lot faster than trying to aim with iron sights. It’s will basically be as easy as having a laser on except the dot is on the glass. I zero with the dot lolypopping on top of my front sight post. 25 yards i can eat up the 8 and 10” steel gongs.

I have one, it fits the rdp. There is an adapter plate you can get on Amazon for the holosun. I would advise against permanent modifications to the slide as it will void your warranty. The hellcat pro is cut with a footprint that fits the Springfield red dots and a think a few others. Did you have to get the adapter plate from CHMS or whoever to make it for? I read that’s the only way it will fit it to mill down the back footprints so it smooth? If this is the case I’d have for sure mention that in your video as now someone might go buy it and it won’t fit!!!

The Hex Wasp is a piece of garbage...it came when I bought the Hellcat OSP....mounted it finally after taking it back(1 screw was too short). Anyways, while at competition. The red dot blinked and then eventually juat turned off....yes I've fixed it but its just garbage. The battery rides right underneath on the slide, so all that force when it reciprocates ruins the dot. Also the 1 moa/auto adjust was late and intermittent sometimes...its also extremely tough to see in bright sun....I bought a plate adapter and will be fitting a Holosun 507k or 407k on it.

I know it might work for some, but certainly not for most. I’m actually looking for a cheaper option for my Helly. I also own a Glock 19 MOS and currently got a Academy Redfield red dot on it. It’s got a simple red dot but with 5 brightness settings. And I can turn it on or off as I please. Essentially my backup sight option. There is a micro red dot option I can use for my Helly P, also a Redfield, RMSc footprint, but it’s shake awake. So still looking for a better option. Was thinking a Crimson Trace maybe.

You may as well carry with a empty chamber too. I can see wanting manual on off for a range gun, but for ccw, shake awake rules. It also has a solar failsafe that charges the battery off the solar panels. 50,000hour battery life is pretty nice.

Brother, thank you for this video! I learned more in this short video than I’ve learned after spending hours watching all the “pro” channels. Like you, I love the Hellcat Pro. Like you, it’s my EDC. Like you, I’ve read those same reviews you mentioned regarding the Hex Wasp and all the problems folks are having. And finally, like you, I’ve heard good things about that Holosun model. I’ve learned that there is a mounting plate that allows easy install of the Holosun on the HC Pro with no cutting or grinding required. Now, I just have two remaining questions before I pull the trigger in this optic and plate purchase: 1. Can you still use both the rear and front iron sight should the optic fail in a life or death situation? I know you can co-witness with the Hex Wasp, but I’m not absolutely sure you can with this Holosun model. 2. Will that optic impede draw from a pocket holster? Believe it or not, I pocket carry 90% of the time due to a back injury and also due to my job. I’ve pocket carried my Shield with extended mag baseplates for 10 years, and now I am carrying my HC Pro in a new Alabama Pocket Holster and can draw with ease while still keeping my weapon concealed. I’m wondering if that added height of the Holosun will make drawing from the pocket too slow for practical use. I even spoke with the gentleman who makes the Alabama Pocket Holsters and he said that his holster models for micro red dots on pistols completely cover the optic. I’m wondering if that optic will snag after I draw it from its holster (still in my pocket) as I draw. Regardless, liked, subscribed, and thank you.

Thank you so much! Yes, without using the mounting plate, I can still see both my rear and front sights through the optic. As for pocket, meh 🫤. I imagine that pocket carry(with or without the optic) would be a bit of a challenge for me.

I believe the mounting plate raises it a bit so its not a true co witness. Think I'll still pull the trigger on the 507k and take the setup to my gunsmith for fitment

@@mwalimubusara1395 I thought it alright came optics ready? You had to get it milled to fit this red dot? Wouldn’t it have been more cost effective to just get the non ops version in the first place then? Did you not use a plate so that you can co-witness with the factory sights? Thanks

@@truthtalker7774 I didn’t have to the entire slide. It comes with a removable face plate. There are two small dots under the removable face plate they go underneath the hex wasp. I had the two dots milk down, so I can make the holosun fit flush and cowitness with the iron sights

@@mwalimubusara1395 I figured that out a few more comments down lol. Thanks for responding though! I have the osp xdm elite but haven’t bothered to put a red dot on it. Going to put one on a hellcat though. So I’m doing some research. Thanks again take care
