You have a strong inner self, as your persona allows you to shed vanity and let us learn with you. Oh, I will share something I discovered...in getting comfortable with using a red dot, I find that if I use more gripping pressure with my two lower fingers ( i.e.#4 & #5 pinky ) it pulls the red dot down right over my front sight. Making your good "better" and your better "best". Somewhere between ignorance & arrogance.

Only been shooting pistol red dot for like 8 months, and only a hair over 2k rounds. But what I can say is it makes it a lot easier to stretch your range out, speed at distances past like 15 yards are way better, also the biggest thing is practice drawing so you reduce inconsistency in the draw stroke. The learning curve is sharp so it will not offer advantages at first but the curve isn’t hard to overcome where it starts really helping. By sharp I mean it will be hard at first but once you start doing well you will improve fast.

James R Squyres dude you not use a red dot in the air force? If you have you should know that they don’t care where the dot is after you zero. I mean you are not going to be a sniper on cod with it, but you will hit the target. Red dots are amazing and more useful than just being a dot in instead of a post. That’s the whole point, is not having to go nose to charging handle and everything that comes with irons.

@@Flemdragon I have not used a Red Dot prior. In certain career fields you do and based upon certain situations (specific deployments etc). But the standard training is just Iron Sights on the M4 and M9.

@@HoodedxFreak sure. The demonstration was showing that once you have the red dot zeroed in the center of your optic that you'll hit the target where the dot is shown regardless of where that is within the optic relative to your sight picture. So if the dot is at the top of your glass you'll still hit roughly on that dot. It's apparently not like iron sights where you have to line up multiple points for accuracy

I have Red Dots on some of my handguns & still use irons on some. Not all of them are cut for optics & I don't want to deal with getting optics cuts & buying optics for every single one. So don't feel like you have to convert everything you own. One thing I have learned is you don't have to buy some $500 optic to get a high quality product. Riton is an optic company that has really impressed me. Even the relatively cheap Sig Romeo Zero has proven to be effective for me. Holosuns are almost always a good bet, but prices on those have started to climb.
