Kind of mind-blowing how TV/movies change your perspective of people's heights. So many actors I've always thought of as short are actually tall and those I assumed were tall are shorties (and I say that from my 5' 6" / 167.6 cm height).

I remember when Top Gun first came out decades ago and the gossip columnists described Cruise as a strapping six-footer. Later, when he starred in Rain Man with Hoffman the advertisement billboard showed the two actors walking side by side up a long road and looking virtually the same height. 🤔

I remember years ago at Utah State University in the 1970's and taking a small class that Robert Redford taught. He did a great job teaching the class but I am 6' 2" and I was so shocked to see how short he was. I think that sometimes really handsome men are sometimes short.

Partially this is true, men with more testosterone mature quicker so they dont' grow as tall and have more classically masuline features like a strong jawline. Partially this is a result of the exposure principal and thinking someone is attractive simply becaues they are famous and you see them all the time.

I've met George Takei a couple of times. He's a real easy going and friendly kind of guy who grew up in Echo Park. He even speaks some Spanish because his neighbors growing up were mostly Mexican Americans. Yes, he's actually that tall.

Years ago I went to the Harry Potter traveling movie exhibit. Their POA costumes were so tiny, yet if you look at the Shrieking Shack scene the kids look bigger than 6-foot-plus David Thewlis. That's when I realized how much movie magic is used to make children not look dwarfed by their adult co-stars. Camera angles alone are a hidden art in movies.

I stood next to Daniel Craig in Oxford when he was filming Enduring Love before his Bond tenure and I would certainly agree that he is 5ft 10inch I’m 5ft 8in and he was only slightly taller than me in terms of head height but his shoulders are quite high, if that makes sense.

Some years ago, I saw a Broadway play called "Match" that starred Frank Langella and Ray Liotta. Waiting to see them up close at the stage door, Mr. Langella looked all of his height, 6'4", but Mr. Liotta looked very short to me, like around 5'8".

I’m a fan of Langella’s and go to see him in plays when I can. I last saw him as King Lear & was close to the stage. He’s not only tall, he’s a big, imposing guy, with a deep, magnetic voice. Also he’s a devoted actor, to take on such a difficult role. A true matinee idol!

I met him in a supermarket in Malibu whilst I was in California and I’m surprised to confirm that this is true. I am 5’9 and he was a good 2 inches shorter then me. It was surprising as such that I had to move closer to him just to make sure lol. 😂

In 1953, at age 7, I 'shook hands' ( more like 'shook fingers) with the then "Tallest man in World", English born, TED EVANS, at Madison Sq. Garden, NYC! His height was listed at 8'5". Years later, in 1961, I went to Power Memorial Academy, NYC, with then 6'10", 14 year old Lew Alcindor, who would become 7'2", Basketball great, Karim Abdul Jabbar, so his height did not bother me, after awhile!/ This video was most comprehensive & illuminating! Thanks!

yeah him and many others on this list. totally surprised how many of these actors are actually shorter. i guess film industry just always try to project them taller for a higher sell.

I'm amazed with how many great actors in 6ft above. I would definitely be starstruck by them. 🤩

I was 6ft at 21, but injuries to legs dropped me to 5'10", and ageing....another 1/2". Sucks. But I'm still here I guess.

@@DataWatch. Well, I was the tallest of 5 brothers, and as tall as my best friend. Now? Not so much! I guess 5'10" was ok. I am this height longer than I was 6'. If anyone could be justified in having 2" lifts, it's me. Won't though.

Reminds me of that rumor about Hulk Hogan: rumored to have been about 6'8, but due to years of "leg drops," is currently something like 6'4 or 6'5 due to spine compression. Yikes 🤕

Hollywood has always preferred the vertically-challenged actor to be in front of the camera. Am I wrong? That said, as a whole, shorter actors have bigger personalities & more talent. Notice: the cream of the crop is arguably between 5'7 and 5'10.. Over 6ft? not so much. Over 6ft2? all but forgotten. ( no offense, Ashton..)

When you say bigger personalities i assume you mean bigger egos. That is very true from experience having friends or dealing with business associates that were of smaller stature.

Peak Ben Affleck is at least 6'3(191cm) I am 6 feet tall and i took the picture with him after the set of Good Will Hunting in 1997 and he was definitely taller than me,i even thinked that he was 6'4.But today he is probably 6'2 because he loss his height as many people in their 50s.And im also very surprised about Dolph Lungren,he now in his 60s may be 6'4 but in Rocky he looked at least 6'5 or maybe 6'6,even google say that he is 6'5

Wow !! Wesley Snipes only 5’9... that was full of surprises. I think a few were wrong though, for instance Vin Diesel 5’11 ? I’ve met him and he’s more like 5’8.

5'9 seems like the most popular height, anyone over this is "tall" by hollywood standards. I'm 6'3.5 and I've met Doug Jones and Liam Neeson, both were shorter than me (Neesons probably lost an inch or two). I've also met Bruce Willis and he was taller than I expected. He seemed to be about 6'1
