@@julesvan no, they’re right actually. if you look up the writing credits for celebrity skin, billy, eric, and Courtney all come up. they wrote the album together. live through this was mostly courtney and eric’s writing with the exception of doll parts and credit in the straight world, which is a cover. however, there was some help and inspiration from kurt. he didn’t write the entire album, but he was her husband so he obviously must’ve helped with it.

Eric Erlandson deserves more credit. He’s a great guitarist and Hole was always a great live band

I saw them on this tour and they'd done a John Peel Session with Doll Parts and Violet on it. That's where the stuff on the Ask for It EP came from. I taped it off the radio when it was on. Still have that tape somewhere.

@@blueriver4484 People write songs in between albums. Violet and Doll Parts were written after the recording of Pretty On The Inside, but not by Kurt. Why would Kurt write songs for a woman he barely knew at the time? Ask yourself why you think a woman is incapable of doing things on her own. In the meantime, stop clogging the comment section with conspiracies.

I’m a huge Nirvana and Hole fan. Kurt and Courtney were perfect for each other. This era of Courtney and Hole is amazing. She could really scream and make you feel her music. This is a great performance from her.

Nice. Was at the last UK gig on this tour in Manchester just four days later. Between this gig and that one Jill Emery had shaved her hair off. Jill and Caroline left fairly soon afterwards so was really lucky to catch that lineup. Warm up acts were Therapy? and Daisy Chainsaw. One of the best gigs I went to in the 90s and probably ever. Hole weren't even that popular so I was right at the front.

Brilliant, never really got the respect she deserved back then.

Ian James, Rock Musician at Geffen Records (1991-present) Yes, Kurt wrote the vast majority of the (LLT) music and probably some lyrics (although Courtney’s a decent lyricist). How do I know? I’m friends with many of those who were around Kurt and Courtney at the time (their band mates, managers, friends, etc. - my band was on the same label as Nirvana and Hole at that time and were part of that whole social circle). I’d also met them myself, Kurt a few times and Courtney once (which was more than enough for me). At that time it was considered uncool to “out” Kurt’s writing of the album, so no one in the know would admit it publicly in order to protect both of their integrity. Also just listen to the music - it’s totally Kurt, which is especially evident when you compare it to Hole’s first album (recorded before he met Courtney) which is pretty weak musically and a different style of song writing.

Saw them in Manchester on this tour. It was one of the most memorable concerts I saw in the 90s. I saw Hands off Gretel in Hamburg a month ago. HOG are even better. Check them out.

Groups like Hole, Nirvanan, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, etc. really brought this new type of "alternative rock" to the forfront and the masses. P.S. Violet was a masterpiece!

The song 'Doll Parts' was a poem she wrote to Cobain when they met and he was seeing 2 other girls, and she turned it into a song, this is fact don't take my word for it. Look it up.

her and i are close - shes still around and still participates in the hole fandom that at least try to talk to her lol shes very lovely. she makes art and plays drums sometimes, shes getting older so i dont know if she does regularly these days. shes got a cute dog :) she told me exactly why she left the band and its unfortunate but im glad she was able to get tf away from all of it. i just love her. she had just dyed her hair hot pink when i checked in w her (or at least last convo we had that wasnt a story abt hole’s history lol)
