Holding History | Mammoth Tusk Sculptural Display
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video I take you through my process of creating a sculptural display for an absolutely amazing piece of history. Not many folks can say they've touched a 20,00 + year old Mammoth Tusk, let alone been able to help in the fabrication of an artistic mount. Between the engineering, and the execution, I'm very proud of how this turned out. Thank you all for watching.
A special thank you to John G. for the amazing opportunities.

That belongs in a museum!
The way you coax those smooth flowing shapes from steel is simply delightful. It's a beautiful piece of art. It honors the fossil as the centerpiece but still had a beauty of its own. The coloration of the metal is something I haven't seen before, it really adds a nice dimension to the material. The look and sound of this video was mesmerizing. Gave me a peaceful feeling watching it. Good to see the inside of the Ship Shop again. Hope you and the crew are doing well. Thanks for sharing!
Those are some of the most beautifully organic shapes in metal I've seen!
It is a good day when you post. Welcome back 🙂

You did a great job accentuating this tusk and I think this looks a lot better than when they're displayed alone in a blank, sterile scene. Good stuff! Also love all the different techniques you used throughout the project.
Hi from Australia, I've been following along with your work for years now, and I have to say that I really don't understand how you don't have 1M+ subscribers on here. Your work is amazing and you have a great fun way of story telling, keep up the awesome work. 😊
Glad to see you back at it, Brett! You did that tusk proud, sir. Very nice build!
Gorgeous work ! A truly deserving shrine for a magnificent piece of history !
Labor of love. Amazing artistic development and a fossil to die for. I don't think I've seen one as complete as that. Absolutely stunning sir. 🙌🤝
It was amazing to see how you manipulated the forms to bring the story to life. I've been learning about metal patinas and have been working with various sculpt nouveau products with my copper work lately but your technique and skill brought the various pieces together perfectly. The broken ice visual is stunning.
I've loved watching you make this over time on your Instagram, and it's so good to see it all together like this! The organic shapes on this are so amazingly good. And that little windchime sound when you picked up the plant was delightful ❤

What an amazing piece and an equally amazing mount. It was very cool to see how it all came together. I've been looking forward to this since you first mentioned it.

I really enjoyed your video for two main reasons : - I like your style of filming and editing and missed your videos - I really enjoyed seeing the process that transformed regular materials into a beautiful piece. The paint at the end really magnified the whole piece. And also, now, I want to buy one of those sculpting disks for my grinder. It looks very useful to carve organic forms in wood.
CAPTAIN! So happy to see a new video from you, and what a mammoth of a video it is too!!!!

Hi Brett. I went to Mongolia. I like the way you put the glue on the wood. It's the same way I put mustard on a hamburger bun.

Indeed, making a base for a mammoth tusk with a shape in the 3D direction is going to be a very difficult process!📡🩻 It was a project that tested the skills of the maker, wasn't it? Well done!! I look forward to the next project! And I'm glad your eye appears to be fully healed and I'm glad to see that you're doing so well!

I have been following you for a minute here on youtube. The earliest I remember was a violin case vampire slayer thing you did way back with Jimmy Diresta. It has been fantastic watching you really pushing your boundaries, and seeing your art mature over time. You've shown us several sides; your inspirations, your processes, your whimsy. I just wanted to sincerely thank you for letting us all tag along with you through this. It's been a fascinating ride so far.
