Stevie Wonder's "Superstition" is to the clavinet the same as Van Halen's "Jump" is to analog synthesizers... the first song you play on the keyboard :-D

The Hohner Clavinet D6, just like the Hammond B3 are by any standard the most awesome instruments ever created.

Funny story about the B-3. The spinet version, the M-3, is actually *mechanically* superior. There are two kinds of tonewheels- complex gears and simple ones. The B-3 and A-100 both have simple sinusoidal gears in the bass pedals while the M-series actually has complex gears in the pedal tones and bass notes. I know a few Hammond techs who frequently use Spinets instead of consoles to test leslie speakers. Even Tom Sholtz of Boston fame swears by his M-3s because there is no console that has quite as much growl in the low end as a spinet. That being said, not every drawbar folds back in the upper registers and it doesnt come with a leslie jack, but plenty of people say the former isn't a mod worth doing, and the latter is a mod that people have been doing for YEARS. M-3 > B-3

@Laurence Santos IMO the mellotron is of course a cool piece of machinery. Being aided by the fact that it's been featured in Strawberry Fields, Space Oddity and Gangsta's paradise. However, its uses are fairly limited because of the very nature of the machine. I would say the Clavinet and The Hammond B3 / M3 are far more versatile, especially across a lot of musical genres.

There are two pickups inside your Clav - a bridge pickup, and a body pickup. If you select D, you get both pickups, and you can switch them in and out of phase by selecting A or B. If you select C, you get one pickup, and at that point selecting the A gives you just the body pickup and selecting B gives you just the bridge pickup.

How many TV stations feature a man exploring his musical instrument? None! It's one of the many things that makes The Doctor Mix Show so special! The Clavinet is one of my favourite instruments. However, it's so underrated that most people don't even know of its existence. Unless we're talking about Superstition... Can you name me another track with Clavinet? Musicians probably could, but the layperson doesn't realize how subtly mixed the Clavinet was in some of the most popular disco hits. I'm talking about tracks like Boogie Oogie Oogie - A Taste of Honey. Even George Benson had Clavinet on his album Breezin' (listen to the song called "Lady"). Anyway, I've heard things tonight that I never imagined possible on the Clavinet. Thank you for that! - Stefan

Claudio you got one of the transitional D6/E7 models. In other words D6 with E7 case and stylings, One of the most common issues is the hammer tips were made with a polymer that degrades as it ages. So you will have to go to Clavinet to get it repaired or if you have a huge budget modify the hammer tips to something more permanent.
