imagine Claudio in a small festival tent just playing with this for hours for 'partygoers' to relax too -- just one man, a clavinet and an echo machine!
I absolutely love the little pitch shift when you let go of a key
Stevie Wonder's "Superstition" is to the clavinet the same as Van Halen's "Jump" is to analog synthesizers... the first song you play on the keyboard :-D

The Hohner Clavinet D6, just like the Hammond B3 are by any standard the most awesome instruments ever created.

Funny story about the B-3. The spinet version, the M-3, is actually *mechanically* superior. There are two kinds of tonewheels- complex gears and simple ones. The B-3 and A-100 both have simple sinusoidal gears in the bass pedals while the M-series actually has complex gears in the pedal tones and bass notes. I know a few Hammond techs who frequently use Spinets instead of consoles to test leslie speakers. Even Tom Sholtz of Boston fame swears by his M-3s because there is no console that has quite as much growl in the low end as a spinet. That being said, not every drawbar folds back in the upper registers and it doesnt come with a leslie jack, but plenty of people say the former isn't a mod worth doing, and the latter is a mod that people have been doing for YEARS. M-3 > B-3

@Laurence Santos IMO the mellotron is of course a cool piece of machinery. Being aided by the fact that it's been featured in Strawberry Fields, Space Oddity and Gangsta's paradise. However, its uses are fairly limited because of the very nature of the machine. I would say the Clavinet and The Hammond B3 / M3 are far more versatile, especially across a lot of musical genres.

to state something so subjective as a fact is foolish
"My other guitar is a clavinet" - there you have a merch t-shirt slogan.

It's a Hohner to play "Superstition" on a Clavinet.
Man so much history behind this instrument. Made when instruments were pre digital so they had imperfections that made them sound real alive. Great video man.
You are a pure energy of inspiration for all who follow/find you my friend. Thanks for doing what you do!!!
Turns into whole different beast with added effects. Sounds quite wonderful. In the middle of the video it sounded like bells, acoustic guitar and piano all at the same time
I guess I've never heard a clavinet through a delay before! Specialy with a tape delay. It's fantastic! I feel very inspired!
He looks so damned happy. And that makes me happy.
I love this corky guy. His love for music is so..........contagious. Thanks Doctor Mix for the video
This guy reminds me of my mom, 80s groove, goofy, energetic, and super into music. Love this guy channel and has been getting me super into synthesizers.
There are two pickups inside your Clav - a bridge pickup, and a body pickup. If you select D, you get both pickups, and you can switch them in and out of phase by selecting A or B. If you select C, you get one pickup, and at that point selecting the A gives you just the body pickup and selecting B gives you just the bridge pickup.

Now here's a guy who I didn't think existed a clavinet nerd. Not that old I'm sure. Move over Lurch ya got a friend
At the 20:50 mark the hairs on my arms stood and I got goose bumps. It's unbelievable. I need this as a long play track.
at 11mins when you started the 'harpsichord'. Wow, you really show you are multi talented. switching so easily between genres or instrument appropriate tunes.
How many TV stations feature a man exploring his musical instrument? None! It's one of the many things that makes The Doctor Mix Show so special! The Clavinet is one of my favourite instruments. However, it's so underrated that most people don't even know of its existence. Unless we're talking about Superstition... Can you name me another track with Clavinet? Musicians probably could, but the layperson doesn't realize how subtly mixed the Clavinet was in some of the most popular disco hits. I'm talking about tracks like Boogie Oogie Oogie - A Taste of Honey. Even George Benson had Clavinet on his album Breezin' (listen to the song called "Lady"). Anyway, I've heard things tonight that I never imagined possible on the Clavinet. Thank you for that! - Stefan
Lovely. I was with you all the way through that extemporisation. That's where the ideas come from.
So funky, man! And so great to see such joy with your Clavinet!
From about 21:00 I feel like i am listening to Tangerine Dream - Exit. Awesome Claudio!
So many beautiful sounds... Many thanks for this video!
One of the best videos on this channel!
This sound is absolutely cosmic and mesmerizing
What an awsome exploration of this clavinet !! Hotel Californation is great and wonderful idea to add a tape delay . Thanks for this journey . Cheers
Beautiful, Claudio...I so much lovvvvve this sound and dream along 'with' you...compliments for letting yourself completely go and wander off and discover new areas. This is the way to go, man: 100% intuition and instinct...this is 'it', this is YOU
Oh man! That was sweet. 😎 I was adding parts all over the place. Thanks for the creative trip and tour of possibilities.
Thanks for that ride! it was a fun journey.
It’s always fun watching you play with new things like a little child with a new toy!
omg those sounds!!!! Thanks Dr.Mix for your videos and your energy! Because of you I bought my first ever musical instrument - AKAI MPK Mini MKII!!!
Dang, even his whistling is on point! He needs to collaborate with Matt Johnson of Jamiroquai-I think there’d be some great chemistry there. Plus they’re both in the UK I think.
I enjoy your videos very much! I love the instruments that you show and the way of playing. Congratulations!
Totally chilled me out . Fantastic cheers !!!
Was entertaining to watch another musician take us to the nostalgic 70s with a signature funk instrument during a break from composing. Lovely.
This was a staple of 60s/70s soul and Funk.
as always, great work doctor
Al Jarreau - Mornin' ♥️
You're right about analog equipment having that unique sound that just is not easily produced with samples. Wish I kept my mint Rhodes MK2 Stage piano and my Juno 60 but in the early 90's digital was all the rage. Love the videos Dr.Mix!
Love the tape delay + reverb!
Best Doctor Mix video EVER! Space rock jam.! Love it! You are an amazing musician. Hats of from 🇨🇴 Colombia

WTF sounds great!!!! thank you to show us that marvelous machine!
Really loved your explorations, very stimulating. I found an E7 at a local thrift store, replaced the tips and am playing it through a used Boss ME-25 pedal. Loving it.
Love it ! Great !!
Great sound!!!!! 👍

I’d also love to see the inside. I’ve owned a few Rhodes and a Wurlitzer but this is a totally different machine from those.
You are simply amazing!!♥️♥️ And you always make me laugh 😂😂
Who needs an electric guitar when you have a clavinet? Other use for your new clavinet with the Wah pedal and the other

Claudio.. One of your best ever. Brian eno came by, he was looking for you..
There's one Clavinet song people very rarely bring up when talking about this instrument. It's _The Arrow_ by Van der Graaf Generator.
Love it!!!!
New subscriber here! love this guy!!
So many points during your improvs I was hearing a drum build-up, and the rest of the band kicking in. Then I remembered it was just you.
It just got funkier! I would like to see some more of your " just learning " 😋
man, I would love to hear this beauty with guitar pedals and maybe an amp, thank you doctor, just beautiful!

This the best video you, claudio have made, because its reminds me my favority band: the tangerine dream
If only you had a Mu-Tron III envelope filter, you could play some "Higher Ground."
Man, you’re crazy but I love it! 🤪😂 Nice rendition of Al Jarreau’s Mornin’ by the way, those chord changes in the bridge are mind blowing!
wait!!! that was fantastic! yes you are lucky but well deserved!!
which are magnificent, which reminds me of my adolescence I want Stevie to voice this. :-) Thank you Claudio. L-O-V
I just discovered a physically modeled Model D6 app on the App Store, so I had to hear what an actual Hohner D6 sounds like. Pretty cool!
Your spacey echo riff was quite nice. Great sound.
Cheers from Romania, Claudio, our latin brother!
souds amazing!!
I hear and feel an U2 Soung in many parts. It seems the clavinet, the tape delay and you palaying gives a lot of sound and melodys that could have been U2 Songs around 17:00 ;) So relaxing and beautiful. The unforgetable Fire might be great in this setting :) Thank you for your inspiring videos, i love to watch, even if am no musician.
This is hilarious! You need a new KZread channel: "Claudio's Classical Reinterpretations" :) :)
31:26 it sounds like the beginning of some sort of Gilmour's song. Something for the dark side of the moon.
I'm Mister 500 thumbs up.. you deserve it DR MIX

I still can't believe that I passed up on one of these. In my defense, it didn't have an output for me to hear it properly through an amp so I was listening to it from just its quiet acoustic without amplification. I should have still bought it as it was very cheap
Again a great video about a great Instrument. It would be awesome If you played ELP's "Nutrocker" on it - a real masterpiece with the Clavinet as the lead instrument. Stay healthy! :)
If you check back on George Duke, he mod'd his Clavi to have 'string bend'. Think that goes back to his time with Zappa's band, before his own solo career took off.

Lachy Doley also plays a clavinet modified with a whammy bar. Very cool sound.
Claudio you got one of the transitional D6/E7 models. In other words D6 with E7 case and stylings, One of the most common issues is the hammer tips were made with a polymer that degrades as it ages. So you will have to go to Clavinet to get it repaired or if you have a huge budget modify the hammer tips to something more permanent.
Oooh cLOVEnet!
love the harpsichord bit. transition into funk for the ultimate mind blow
At first i thought clavinet is boring, but when you started to play prog rock you won me back ;)
Great. The chest of drawers in your head has many drawers with great phrases.

Wow Al Jarreau, that’s cool.
Somehow 4 of the 7.8 billion people in this world have given this video a thumbs down. Everything we know is broken.
35kg of love, now in action!
WoW everything you play sound so great. You are à true musical genius
New Genre Unlocked: Space Funk
Seems to need a little regulation .. they are fairly easy to set up, just be careful not to put any stress on the strings .. went to replace one string last summer and ended up breaking two more haha. All fixed now
Would love to see what he could do with a looper.
I really think this Clavinet's long overdue for a service; both electronic and mechanical.
...soooo gut!!!! 20:00 .... you have to record this!
